Thanks, made me think of one of the best musicians in my area in New England. He's a well known and generous piano player, and he loves Jacob, in fact he thinks he is a genius on level with great musical geniuses of the past
@@SalvadorMusica98 not in this context, and even so, does this song compare to With The Love In My Heart in complexity because there's more than two guitars?
The whole of Djesse Vol. 2 just gives me an overwhelming sense of peace and tranquility and I love it, it sounds like the end of the summer in an album
He mentioned the concept in a show. The concept is Djesse symbolises a certain space (a little like the universe if you’re into science). Volume 1 is this vast open space with large sounds and broad orchestral music. Volume 2 is where this space shrinks down into a smaller volume, and by doing this heats up a little, and everything becomes cozier and more tranquil for Volume 2. The space continues shrinking until it’s compressed into a single point of everything packed together madly. That’s where Volume 3 is found. I’m pretty sure Jacob said something along the lines of “it gets real crazy in there”. Finally, Volume 4 is a grand re-expansion of this space, growing out again, and I expect it’ll be a slight reflection on the past 3 volumes also. Hope this helped, apologies if I’ve got anything wrong!
imho, best song of his to date. i’ve heard so many people complain that his music lacks feeling and is just a massive show of complexity, but this is a beautifully simple and heartfelt song. calms me down no matter what.
Celia Shinn I can’t agree more with you. It is weird to hear these complains. And the complexity he uses is just because he can, I think he is a very intelligent human being.
Lacks feeling? I do not know much about music theory, but I can tell you that his lyrics and melodies demonstrate lots of emotions to me. How can you say Feel is out of feelings? Make me cry? LUA? Djesse? Even his covers are really good! I think you can all agree he show passion through his music, when he speaks and explain everything, it is just beautiful the amount of love he has for what he does.
I'm going to go ahead and say that this is probably the most tragically beautiful song I have heard in a long time...it has a sort of longing bittersweet-ness somewhere between a broken heart and a heart being put back together again, sort of helpless and lost but also whistful and certain and it's just so beautiful
Will Lenk Even still after listening to this song so much, it feels like it ends so quickly. Time flies by when you’re feeling things in the farthest corners of your soul i guess
[Verse 1] The time has come for me to tell you All the things I really feel about you 'Cause lately time's been moving on And every day we seem to grow a little older, too The more I think of you the less I seem To know the way I feel about you And all I think is all I know And all I know is all I want to think about is you [Verse 2] I used to think I knew it all And that the love you gave was mine for keeping I guess I cared too much for you back then To see the simple magic of it all I long to see the things we saw When we were young and could not see so clearly When all the world was just a blur of coloured lines That I'd trace most sincerely back to you [Pre-Chorus] And you'd say [Chorus] "Time to rest your weary head Take your wings and go to bed I know you want to know it all, my darling" And I'd say "Set me down and rock me Rock me to sleep" [Verse 3] I see the sparkle in your eyes You say I'm beautiful and I believe you And I will never feel more beautiful Than when I'm wide awake beside you I'll wander far and wide and wonder How it feels to fall in love with someone Without the need to show her everything I've learnt About the world since you've been gone [Pre-Chorus] And you'd say [Chorus] "Time to rest your weary head Take your wings and go to bed I know you want to show it all, my darling" And I'd say "Set me down and rock me Rock me to sleep" [Verse 4] There was a time it seemed the time itself Was free and would go on forever Wanted to cling to it but now I see Its fading is its greatest treasure, ooh [Pre-Chorus] And you would say [Chorus] "Time to rest my weary head Take my wings and go to bed I know you want to feel it all, my darling" And I'd say "Sit me down and rock me, oh Sit me down and rock me, oh darling Sit me down and rock me Rock me to sleep"

This is an answer to every type of music made just to sell itself, I see a soul in this, not just notes and a beat, we can see someone who wants to make some lifes better.
For my money, the most important influence behind this stunning masterpiece is the work of Joni Mitchell. The special guitar tuning. The vulnerable confessionality, new for Jacob. The craft. There are probably many ways to take this lyric, but for me the key is in the chorus, sung by and to a person who truly, really sees you, sees that those wings need rest and comfort from the effort of wanting to feel, to know, it all. That sounds like the Jacob I hear when I listen to his music.
I mean this is just unbelievable. It is unbelievable what Jacob is doing. No one else does this, or anything like this. Jacob is a transcendent musician of our time.
Me and someone I cared for very deeply parted ways about a month ago. It’s made me very unsure of what the future holds or if I’ll even have a future worth living. You become so connected to the person you love that not having them around can make you feel lost, like the only thing you cared about is gone. This song makes me rethink that train of thought, because in it’s helplessness and tragedy, it’s unmistakably beautiful. With a sunset there must be a sunrise, when night comes it means day is right around the corner, although it may be dark now the light will soon come. There is always hope no matter how hopeless you feel. Whether you’ve lost somebody, been through a breakup, or just feel lost, there will always come a day when you feel better.
I don't know why, but this is exactly how I visualized Djesse vol.2 in my head - a dry, northern environment, lots of trees, montains, rivers, ect. Such a beautiful work of art, Jacob; you allow your music to be enjoyed from so many different sensatorial perspectives, which makes it a very special experience. Thank you, and greetings from Colombia.
I was in Norway when this album came out, and listening to it while driving and hiking through the fjords, mountains, and forests was such a surreal experience. This album will forever be associated with that place.
Two solid months of listening and watching and learning from Jacob Collier videos.... I'm on sensory overload. I hope my heart will survive the next two albums. Jacob is an experience.
I've stood in that exact same spot in Tuolumne Meadows after climbing Cathedral Peak. Jumped in the river and got bit by mosquitos! What a great day that this song brought me back to.
i wish jacob would talk more about his lyrics writing process. because, besides being a musical genius, his lyrics are very deep and beautiful. this is a masterpiece.
Ah, Jacob! The notes you find between the spaces strum very ancient strings in all of us. Thank you for uniting us through harmonic frequencies and showing us that love is infinite. Blessings.
What a poignant way to end this album. Honestly one of the most simplistically beautiful songs I have ever heard. The whole album is stellar, but this stood out to me.
"take your wings and go to bed" and it has the same atmosphere, someone trying to remend the pieces it's a great, great song so proud that Jacob did it!!
Jacob is genuinely a genius. whether its as complex as the universe or as simple as the tip of a needle its beautiful whatever he does. that's true mastery
Јоеy it’s honestly so, so refreshing to see someone like him becoming popular in this generation. He has that same special thing about him that made artists like Bob Dylan and Nick Drake so incredible.
This year, in April, someone I fell in love with loved me too, for the first time in my life. While we chatted, I usually listened to this song. It made me feel so much along with how we talked. So pretty. Albeit being young (19 yo), it was the happiest I've been in my life. Sadly, it ended not much later, and now I cannot listen to it, because it takes me back to that moment, and makes me think of it and think and feel the loss of not having it anymore. I wish, I truly wish, I will be able to listen to it again, with another girl that decides to love me. I don't know when that's gonna be, but i know that when it happens, this song is gonna be played a lot on my phone.
I wasn't ready to tear up, even after listening to this a number of times in the past. Your music is something that will never not be cherished by the world Jacob, thank you. Edit: I cried listening to it a second time.
Presumably, the 48 people who gave this delightful song a thumbs down, are from the community of failed musicians, who can only stare open mouthed and defeated, at Jacob's warmth, talent and burgeoning popularity... nice one Jacob!
I think this is my favourite song of his until now. The intimate performance, the simple form, the touching lyrics and the beautiful chords. Thank you jacob for allowing us to experience this masterpiece. It's wonderful
Recently, Jacob has been satisfying my folk-y music desires. It's like if Paul Simon, Nick Drake, Jose Gonzalez, James Taylor, and many more lent their super powers to one single soul. I love it so much.
I'd really love to hear Jacob do an album of just one instrument and him singing. Maybe mix it up with some piano and guitar on different tracks... As amazing as all of his other stuff is, the vulnerability in this (and the solo piano stuff he did with Mahogany Sessions) is sooo powerful!
Yesterday my dog died, so while digging for my dog's place I shuffled my Spotify playlist and this played. So sensual feeling and emotional atmosphere while this song was playing.
This is old but I'm sorry for your loss.. I still grieve my beloved cat Quinn of 8 years since he passed in early February. I listened to this song just after and so it always makes me think of him. I remember just the day before I had picked him up and placed him on my chest with his head under my chin and he fell asleep on me. I didn't know he would be gone forever the next day. I was so obsessed with him and he was all I'd talk about every day 😭 I buried him as well, and I like to play this song looking at his burial, which is under the tree he used to hide under. Part of me wishes I wasn't there when he was put down, but I felt like I needed to be there with him to the very end.
I am here after djesse vol. 3 is out and it’s great, but vol. 2 will always touch my heart so much deeper. I love the folkness, it is the most profound and vulnerable part of Jacob’s musical world
yes! Djesse 2 is the ONE. Who even knows now if we will get Vol4, 3 and 1 are great, but 2 is special in exactly the ways you mention, for me it becomes what I'd call historic.
It's amazing to see someone can soothe you with music and make you realize you're not alone with your emotions. It's an honor to be able to see the many forms of art created by this incredibly talented yet humble man. Lots of love to Jacob
Jacob, your music is so beautiful, you have touched my soul. I am going through an episode of depression due to my career being derailed by the pandemic, and all the uncertainty with it. But when I close my eyes and listen to your music, I feel that beauty is still in the world and life is worth living. Your music gives me the kind of strength few things give me in the world. I have enjoyed all your albums, many of your performances, and look forward to Djesse vol 4 and beyond. You are a gift to the world and I hope to see you in concert one day in better times ♥️
What i take away from this video is, no matter if you stand and watch something, you wont understand the beauty in the moment. It is only the memory of the moment that causes you to realize what had actually happened. You can stand and stare at the earth like jacob in this video, but you will never realize the beauty of it all until you look back and see what truly happened.
Jacob has broadened my life experience. Deepened my gratitude. Enriched my existence. Strengthened my hope. Carry on young traveler. Create. Thank you. 74 yrs. 38.9 million minutes. 🫶🏻 🌞
It's in songs like this where Jacob is best, in my opinion. His beautiful ear for melody and progressive harmony shines in the simplistic context, and is not overshadowed by the, sometimes fun, sometimes too chaotic, cacophony of instruments and theory. This is truly beautiful, and shows what an extraordinary genius he is.
I feel like so much of his music is a message of love, just like his idol, Stevie Wonder. It's just the best stuff to write about, the stuff of life and love.
I found you and your beautiful songs just yesterday.. they are like the perfect soundtrack to a specific love storyline in my novels (work in progress). Just wanted to tell you that you reinforce spiritual entanglement for me. I could have written my Baximian listening to the song Make Me Cry. Thank you for being. You're a gift from the Else beyond. Thank you thank you
"I'll wander far and wide and wonder How it feels to fall in love with someone Without the need to show her everything I've learnt About the world since you've been gone" God, that hits close to home. This may be the most tragically beautiful song I've ever heard. Usually I can get through stuff, but I can never get through this song when it comes on at the end of the album.
Saudade- the feeling i get from this song is the same as when i first heard "Something in the way she moves" by James Taylor. ✨ This is now my favorite song from Jacob.
I've encountered that word a long time ago in a reaction to Steven Wilson's work and this song made me feel that exact way. That slightly depressing feeling of nostalgia to a place or time you can't put your finger on.
This is the most beautiful song I have heard in many years. It reminds me of all my loved ones and the joy and pain we have all experienced. The lyrics and the music are incredibely wholesome. Thank you Jacob, for creating such an incredible piece of music.
There it is again, the descriptive word "wholesome" as applied to Jacob's music. From decadence and maladjustment from attitude over craftsmanship, I am glad we have turned this cultural corner and embraced an artist who makes intelligence sexy, depth more delicious than superficiality, and embraces art that is truly timeless....
every time im feeling scared, stressed, sad or generally unsure of what is going on, i always come to this song for comfort and to release the tears i've been fighting for so long.
You're trying to sleep... Trying to lay your head to rest Your mind is still moving... Running, wandering around... Around this Universe of ours... Ur FC from Thailand 🙏🇹🇭
This song is what made me feel calm and forget anything that feels uncomfortable to me (depression, stress, etc.). Also, whenever I feel down I listen to this song to know that I can be more than what I am. This song inspired me to create my own music as well. Btw, a beautiful song that is never to be forgotten 😊
How is it that the exact day I discover Jacob Collier and listen to his discography is the same day he releases the video to one of my new favorites of his? The timing is other worldly. Bravo, Jacob Collier!

Omg I was just about to go to sleep, thanks God I didn't
Aldo Torres same same
Same bruuu
Aldo Torres I guess now after listening to it, it’s time to rest your weary head.
@@masonhmusic of course, 24 hrs later I'm ready now haha
Two solid months of listening and watching and learning from Jacob Collier videos.... I'm on sensory overload. I hope my heart will survive the next two albums. Jacob is an experience.
K Same here
He is on a completely different level than other musicians his age. Beautiful.
This needs a Mahogany Session!!!
Dont know if you know but he has 2 already. you definitely should check'em out
My most sincere respect and appreciation goes to you, Jacob. Thanks for showing the magic of life and being human through music 😊
☺️
this is the first time i cried over how stressful college is and this was playing
i'm now crying harder
It's like Blackbird Goes Collier.
Yeah I was thinking it felt like Blackbird somehow - especially when he sings the high note, "allllll" (right around there)
"take your wings and go to bed"
and it has the same atmosphere, someone trying to remend the pieces
it's a great, great song
so proud that Jacob did it!!
It's my favorite on this album 💌
"Allllll" and the melody right afterwards
Totally agree
Thank you Jacob, this song helped me fall asleep despite my nervousness and panic yesterday.
SAME
me too for the 12th time
Presumably, the 48 people who gave this delightful song a thumbs down, are from the community of failed musicians, who can only stare open mouthed and defeated, at Jacob's warmth, talent and burgeoning popularity... nice one Jacob!
My thoughts exactly ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Don't waste your precious time wondering❤️
If you didn’t already know, you’re in luck. “Piano Ballads: Live From The Djesse World Tour 2022” came out last year. It’s all acoustic improv.
Yesterday my dog died, so while digging for my dog's place I shuffled my Spotify playlist and this played. So sensual feeling and emotional atmosphere while this song was playing.
I'm sorry for your lost tho
This is old but I'm sorry for your loss.. I still grieve my beloved cat Quinn of 8 years since he passed in early February. I listened to this song just after and so it always makes me think of him. I remember just the day before I had picked him up and placed him on my chest with his head under my chin and he fell asleep on me. I didn't know he would be gone forever the next day. I was so obsessed with him and he was all I'd talk about every day 😭
I buried him as well, and I like to play this song looking at his burial, which is under the tree he used to hide under. Part of me wishes I wasn't there when he was put down, but I felt like I needed to be there with him to the very end.
i am acually crying right now. this is his super power. he touches our souls being so pure, talanted and honest
YES! Finally managed to write this line. Fell asleep the past 467 times I listened to this song... So pure...
Love how the mix sounds very raw and organic it fits the vibe..
I was Listening to Jacob on Spotify and he decided to respond in turn.
Same
Wait, what?
I am here after djesse vol. 3 is out and it’s great, but vol. 2 will always touch my heart so much deeper. I love the folkness, it is the most profound and vulnerable part of Jacob’s musical world
yes! Djesse 2 is the ONE. Who even knows now if we will get Vol4, 3 and 1 are great, but 2 is special in exactly the ways you mention, for me it becomes what I'd call historic.
Ever sat and watched the light fade from the day, until it all becomes black and white? That’s this song. Masterpiece.
The song I never new I needed. From the bottom of my heart, Jacob, Thankyou ❤️
The most beautiful things in this world are things that are simple. Like this song.
It´s so cool to see that he´s capable of utter crazyness with microtonality, key changes, etc. and this calm beauty at the same time.
Found this man today...and this song, is in my opinion, his best. It makes me nostalgic for something that hasn't happened
Jacob Collier. A beacon of light in an ever darkening world. Keep on inspiring us!
To the person who introduced me this song. Thank you! 💗
Thanks for the peace. My head rests in your voice and music.
Favourite Jacob Collier recording I've heard
This song feels like a warm hug. Incredible work Jacob
I feel like so much of his music is a message of love, just like his idol, Stevie Wonder. It's just the best stuff to write about, the stuff of life and love.
i love your music so much you are a refresh in the music of this decade
I found you and your beautiful songs just yesterday.. they are like the perfect soundtrack to a specific love storyline in my novels (work in progress). Just wanted to tell you that you reinforce spiritual entanglement for me. I could have written my Baximian listening to the song Make Me Cry. Thank you for being. You're a gift from the Else beyond.
Thank you thank you
"I'll wander far and wide and wonder
How it feels to fall in love with someone
Without the need to show her everything I've learnt
About the world since you've been gone"
God, that hits close to home. This may be the most tragically beautiful song I've ever heard. Usually I can get through stuff, but I can never get through this song when it comes on at the end of the album.
i dont need anything else from today
goodnight
This was perfect.
Thank you Jacob.
Didn’t think something could be this beautiful
Of Jacob's many fine songs, this is my current favorite and the one I am often singing to myself
Saudade- the feeling i get from this song is the same as when i first heard "Something in the way she moves" by James Taylor.
✨ This is now my favorite song from Jacob.
Sh Grm Saudade must be one of the most beautiful I ever heard from modern languages, lots lots of love from Argentina
I've encountered that word a long time ago in a reaction to Steven Wilson's work and this song made me feel that exact way. That slightly depressing feeling of nostalgia to a place or time you can't put your finger on.
... and this masterpiece is not even close to Jacob's best works... That says a lot... What a talent. Thank you, JC. Thank you, Suzie.
Trying to lay your head to rest
Your mind is still moving...
Sometimes melodies carry narratives that resonate deeply.
Sometimes in one listen you find something special.
This is that for me.
as much as people focus on the harmony and structure of his music, i think we tend to forget the poetry that goes behind all of this
only when the song finished did i realise that I've been saying "WOW" out loud after every verse. beautiful
I love you jacob, thank you.
This song/video is almost therapeutic... Everytime I listen to it, It's like a warm hug to the soul. Thanks por giving us this much, Jacob! 💕
*This is what I needed today.*
grieving for the memories that weren't there
As much love as I have for the complex compositions and arrangements Jacob puts out, it is refreshing to finally see him truly reach to our hearts and speak to us all. We understand now, Jacob. Thank you.
This song makes me wanna spend time in nature and then next to a fireplace with a scotch whiskey ❣️
With a big dog
Incredible song!!! It seems this guy already lived a thousand years. Great artwork!
This pleases all six senses.
Wonderful emotion who cut the onions.
I do believe this will stand the test of time as, without hyperbole, one of the greatest and most heartfelt pieces of music ever created. Thank you once again Jacob for really, _really_ doing your thing.
