    I'm a little sad with so much of the negativity in the comments section today, so I'm going to address the most common complaints in one place.
    I made this video because I love discovering and talking about makeup and so many of you had requested that I review this new palette. I'm not sponsored or endorsed by Morphe in any way (not even with free product) and my finger is not dragging on the swatches, they're actually gliding smooth like butter. I do not care that Morphe uses another company to manufacture their products ... almost no company (with the exception of ColourPop) makes their own makeup or packaging in 2016 - nearly everyone uses a third party lab and third party packaging company to make their products. Lastly, when I'm in Sephora, Ulta or a Department store playing with makeup I use my fingers and I swatch it either on the back of my hand or inside of my forearm. Every pro MUA that I've ever known does the same, so I'm not going to start swatching with brushes for UA-cam - it's absurd.
    For those of you who enjoyed me reviewing an affordable palette that I genuinely love, thank you for watching. Anyone else that wants to call me credibility into question or just stir up trouble, I have a block list that's 500 deep and I add to it daily. xo's ~ Tati

    If she would swatch with brushes people would be like "That's a 50$ brush why don't you try a 2$ brush" and so on. Stop complaining. It's Tati's channel and she can do whatever she wants. If she wants to swatch using her dog's tail she can. This is her method, her way, her channel.

    Guys, shadows just apply better with fingers. It's a fact. Instead of complaining about gurus swatching with their fingers, try applying your shadows with your fingers!

      right? tati's even mentioned many times that, especially with shimmer/glittery shadows, using your finger to press them in works 100 times better than trying to use a brush most times. i used to have tons of trouble getting shimmer to apply, but started using my finger to press them in and they last for hours and look great that way.

      Not really, they get stuck on your finger due to the oil and therefore do not transfer well

    When Tati applies high end products with expensive brushes she's "unrelatable".
    When she swatches an affordable product with her fingers she's "unprofessional".
    WTF do you people want, I mean really? Why are you even here if you question her authenticity or makeup application when she primarily does makeup reviews?!

      I dont understand the "swatch with a brush" thing, like do you want her to swatch on her arm with the brush? Cuz the skin on your arm is different from the skin on your eyelids, and if you want her to swatch the colors on her eyes with the brush, that can be damaging to her skin, and id imagine the repetitive applying and cleaning would cause a lot of irritation and fast forward wrinkling

    Thank you for stressing that everyone can enjoy and wear shimmer shadows. I've heard somewhere else on UA-cam that with hooded eyelids or monolids, that you can't ever wear shimmer eyeshadow. Being Asian and having very hooded eyelids (almost monolids), that made me so disappointed. :( I love shimmer eyeshadows. They are so pretty. To be told that I shouldn't wear them because of my eye shape really sucked. I ended up just wearing them anyway, and trying to learn how to apply them in a way that looked good for my eye shape. :) Thanks for this. That palette looks really beautiful, and so does your makeup.

    • @elvida17
      @elvida17 8 років тому +17

      what NO! Shimmers look really pretty on any kind of eye, it's just about how you use it. A lot of asains with monolids use shimmers and glitters. Infact matte shades are hard to come by in asia, because shimmers are used a lot more. Try looking at asian magazones to get inspiration if you're having a hard time! :)

      +Angelica Nevarez To be honest, I think most of this started with Jaclyn Hill. She created that eyeshadow palette with Becca, and many of her UA-cam friends jumped online to say how amazing it is, swatches and all. But when consumers learned that it was a drugstore palette from China, I think a lot of people realized that some vloggers are biased in their reviews, either for money or just to keep a big name happy. There are hardly ANY people that do really honest negative reviews on big name products. Not only can you make a big name angry, which means less opportunity for collabs and affiliate links, you can get their fans angry. It's really a no win situation. But it is getting a bit hard to trust reviews of makeup on UA-cam.

    Hi Tati, you're one of the most honest youtuber I've ever come across and I appreciate that. I don't know why people just find it so hard to believe that you love this palette. I don't understand why people find the need to shove their beliefs and opinions down others' throats. They don't have to love everything that you love because different products work differently on different people. Why can't people just respect the fact that Tati loves this palette and so be it. And if they do not like this palette/brand for other obvious reasons, well, so be it too. I'm sure Tati respects that too. Really, is it so hard just to respect everyone's views, opinions and feelings?
    Like many others have said, you do you, Tati. You can't please everyone. So, just continue being you and do you. We love you Tati!

I'm just here to say I'm in my 40's and always wear shimmer eyeshadows and I couldnt give a hoot what anyone thinks. I'm all about the shimmer! My eyelids aren't crepey though and I don't know why - maybe cos I've always used eye creams and serums and I've used retin-a for 20 years. I frequently get told I look in my 20's but I think that must just be on good days where I finally had a decent night of sleep the night before! lol Life is short, it's only makeup, do what you want, wear what you want, express yourself, be free! :) x

    Can you please start doing swatches with a brush? I find that finger swatches can be misleading, there is rarely a shadow that does not swatch well using ur hands. I feel that it would match more to how people are going to use the shadows in real life if you swatch with a brush. (Or do both) Thanks for considering :)

    • @ChaoticShelly
      @ChaoticShelly 8 років тому +105

      No. Not every shadow swatched by finger will perform the same with a brush. They are not the same application form and they don't grab product in the same manner. Almost any e/s will look pigmented with a finger swatch - I've an Essence palette(s) (Bronzed and Nudes) that swatch just like UD Naked e/s does when I swatched them with my fingers, but they are completely sheer regardless of what brush I use as long as I use a brush. It's just not a good method to swatch a product or give an honest/objective opinion about a shadow, period.
      A few Morphe shadows are good per palette, but most of them are actually extremely patchy when used with a brush. Hence why I don't buy big palettes like these at all.

    • @katyklyn7683
      @katyklyn7683 8 років тому +52

      I respectfully disagree. A finger swatch is great to see the intended colour, however there are some shades from companies that when you put them on your eyes or even just your hand with a brush they will not show up as well, or even appear to be a bit of a different shade than in the pan. It can muddy the colour a bit, even while using a clean brush. Also, to know the amount of fallout is better seen with a brush, since the oils on your fingers will help the product not have that issue as much.
      My request still stands. I would like Tati to consider doing brush swatches as well.

      +christianaalexia if you swatch something using your finger and then swatch it using a brush I almost guarantee the colour pay off will be different. if you're using good shadows the pigmentation will still be good but swatching a shitty eyeshadow with a brush will be a world of difference to using your finger

    Tati -- thank YOU for giving me permission to wear shimmer. I am in my (not going to say the age) but in reading and watching UA-cam videos for "mature" women, it's like a HUGE no no to wear shimmer, which totally bums me out. But now I'm going with it and I'm going to wear me some SHIMMA! Love you girl, REALLY loving your videos lately!!!

      Girl! Regardless of your age makeup is just supposed to be fun and enhance features you want to enhance. If you like shimmer and you want to wear shimmer go for it! My mom is 63 and I do her makeup for her all the time and I make it simple and glowy and she looks great in shimmer and I bet you would too! Who cares what other people think. There are no "rules" with makeup! Do what makes you feel good!!!!! You should try Clinique "lucky penny" (not sure if they still make it or not but I used to LOVE it and I'm basically the palest skin) or Anastasia "pink champagne" both are stunning shades for anyone of any age if you aren't sure where to start. Go for it! And if you hate it, just wash it off!

      But I just keep it toned down, Same with color, I've read that women of our age shouldn't wear anything but beiges and greys, but I feel a little color is ok. Just use a light hand.

    • @lindz15100
      @lindz15100 8 років тому +1

      +jujubee463 toned down is good I mean I wouldn't do a smokey eye or anything but I did makeup for a wedding and used makeup forever s-557 on the outer half of the eye and slightly in the crease (it's a pale purple) and then mufe 1-514 & i-528 on the inner half and it was stunning and she looked gorgeous. So no, I wouldn't do a smokey eye or a bright blue but you can work with colors that aren't beige & grey.

    I wish some body would put the swatches according to the color family when swatching palettes, like all highlight shades together and all brown shades together, so you'd really know if having a palette is worth it (I'm talking about high end palettes too) because I've seen companies cleverly put the same shade with a little variation (that you can't even detect once its on the eyes) and sell 4 almost identical looking transition shades that you can easily achieve with just one shadow either heavily put or sheered out

    I don't get the negativity. God forbid someone has an opinion that's different from your own. Yes, morphe is overexposed, but that doesn't mean that she is getting paid. Tati is a sweetheart. I saw her at Sephora and she was like a makeup detective, swatching shadows and everything you could think of. She's not gonna BS you. I think she's one of the most credible makeup investigators ( I like to think of her as that). Don't be negative guys. In the end of the day, it's makeup. Have fun and enjoy yourself. In a world where there is so much hatred, why are we adding more?

    To be honest, I expected Tati's review to be similar to Stephanie Nicoles. She's always so knowledgeable about brands and where they come from. This seemed very fake and unlike any other review Tati has done. Very disappoiting.

    • @AznBarbieStick
      @AznBarbieStick 8 років тому +80

      Odd you would call her review fake. I feel like Tati is one of the most honest reviewers ON UA-cam and she's never afraid to tell us what she does and doesn't like. When she gives a negative or opposing opinion to a product, people say she's too harsh. When she says she likes a product, people are calling her fake now? Wow.

    • @neyk3302

      So a positive review of a product is fake and a negative is honest?

    • @JoceEva
      @JoceEva 8 років тому +24

      +Ney K Apparently. Every time there's a negative review of anything, people praise the person for being honest. But if it's positive, people accuse them of being paid and dishonest. People have a hard time believing that one person could find something great that someone else finds bad. It's lame.

      +Dave T. I'll be happy to inform you 😊
      So there was a controversy with a UA-camr called RockyRoadKill. Rocky had gotten a skin-frost, which had fallen out of the pan when he opened it, because it wasn't secured to the pan. In the video Rocky stated that he loved Jeffree, and customer service wouldn't give him another one. Jeffree commented that "Rocky should have reached out to customer service and they would have replaced it", and "I will would reach out to UA-cam for this defamation." Which made it clear he hadn't watched the video, and was just bashing Rocky.
      Jeffree later made an apology, which many considered half-***. In the apology he still stated that Rocky's video was clickbait.
      There was another thing with another UA-camr, I forget her name, but Jeffree stated that at an event this UA-camr told another girl that "B****, you need them your face is disproportionate." (The UA-camr was asked about lip-fillers) Jeffree then told this girl he would beat her, (TBC)

    • @yasmingalvao8316
      @yasmingalvao8316 8 років тому +1

      +Dave T. Which NO ONE, man or women should ever say. (He also called her a c***.)
      He also said he wanted to pour battery acid on a darker skinned female. (Which even as a joke, you can't ever say that. Especially as a white male.)
      He pulled a girls hair and kicked her (She was young as well), cursed another girl out who was young, and wrote out a nasty tweet.
      For more information, watch Stephanie Nicole's video, "Jeffree skin-frost and brand review." Skip forward 20 minutes and she explains her opinions on Jefree himself, and not the products. She explains in depth. And included videos, citations, and pictures.
      Hope I helped inform you! ❤️

      instead of wetting the brush first,you can try using the dry brush to pick some of the pigments then just spray fix plus or setting mist on the brush,don't spray directly hold the brush away a bit ,you only need a bit of dampness and not wet.I have the 35O twins and the 35F and they seem really good even for that price.

    Tati, I really enjoy your videos and since I have the same skin type as yours, I trust your opinion. I never had that feeling you sometimes get when watching other UA-camrs that you get paid to say only good things about some companies products.
    Sometimes when I'm in Sephora I tend to forget the colour or something of a product and I'm just there, standing in front of the display and rewatching your videos to the part you say it, or searching through your channel to see if the thing I had my eyes on you swatched/reviewed.
    One day I literally sat 40 min in front of the MUFE display to find your shade of the ultra hd concealer, cause usually we match at the skin tone/undertone and the Sephora lights are awful! I never ever was dissapointed when I bought a product you said it was good. That doesn't mean I buy only what you recommend, but it is helpful. Let's be honest, we all swatch the shades on our hands, using our fingers, I never saw anyone grabbing a brush and blending the product right there in the store.
    I love your videos, I love you, James, Puka, you are all so funny and cute :)
    You really should focus on the positive comments, haters will be haters, no matter what you do.
    Remember this, I think Dita Von Teese said it: You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches.
    Love, xoxo

      Morphe has the brand crown brush make their products and over price them. It's a normal practice and I've know all this before I even saw Stephanie Nicole's awesome video so she's not lying. I've done my own research. Anyway, people don't like that they're not transparent about it and kick up the price for the quality.

    • @cookieman10able

      also, it's probably annoying that morphe reaches out to so many youtubers and sponsors them to endorse their products but don't know that they're a private labeled company. I dont mind it that it's a private labeled company, but its annoying that people rave about it but don't even know what the Morphe brand is. If you are gonna rave about it and try to make someone buy, throw some facts.

    Tati, I am so confused. I need a highlighter. I trust your judgement more than anyone but since you adore all highlighters Its hard for me to chose the right one. Will you please give me your advice? I am 60 have light skin, gray hair and blue eyes. I was going to get Kevin Ancoin or Laura Mercier powders and then I watched one of your videos from 2015 and you were loving the Becca liquid shimmery skin perfector in moonstone. I think liquid makes more sense since I have older skin though not badly wrinkled. Or maybe you have another you think I should try. Arghhh. What should I do?

    • @laurenw3858
      @laurenw3858 8 років тому +5

      I'm not Tati, but I can tell you that my mom who's in her 50's really enjoys the liquid Becca highlight. It's not too intense and doesn't draw attention to texture either. I have the Kevyn Aucoin and Laura Mercier powders as well though and I either would work well on mature skin because the shimmer is finely milled - I'm wearing the Laura Mercier one today because my skin is bumpy from allergies and it hasn't emphasized the texture.
      If you can swatch them in stores, that would probably be your best bet, but you can't really make a bad choice out of those three.

      +Karla Cervantes the matte shades let me down. They weren't pigmented and I had to really work the brush into the pan to get product onto it then they didn't blend that great.
      Not the worst palette I've used but it's so bulky I didn't want to keep it when I can get cheaper ones that do a better job in a smaller size.
      So it was a disappointment for me.
      On a positive note the shimmer shades were better and I love morphe brushes 😊

    • @AloneInTheGarden
      @AloneInTheGarden 8 років тому +2

      +Karla Cervantes Also keep in mind that all makeup will work differently for each person. She may have had a bad experience with this palette because it just didn't work well with her skin tone/texture or even the other products she uses on her face, while someone else may love this palette and have great results with it. For example, I have very fair skin, so some light colors just won't show up very pigmented on my skin and I feel like I have to layer the color because it just gets lost on my skin. However, I have friends with different complexions that don't have that issue. Since these palettes are such a good price, it may be worth it for you to go ahead and buy and try it out. You may love it!

    I loved this video, Tati! I've been hesitant to purchase a Morphe palette in the past because I'm not always into a full/mostly matte palette and (wrongly) assumed they'd be expensive. But seeing you swatch each of these shimmer shadows made me fall in love, and when I went to look at their website and saw it was only $23 dollars, I HAD to have it! Even if I don't use it a ton, it's still only 20 bucks. I went out and purchased it before your video had even finished! 😂😁 I know there is some negative information out there about the brand, which I don't think any of us would deny, but also, very few brands out there really make their own products at their own factories and don't mark up their prices these days, so I think that's just the world we live in. So, for now, I'll hopefully enjoy this affordable palette once I receive it. 😊 Thanks for sharing, Tati! Love your videos--they've become a staple in my UA-cam watch list. ❤️
