GREAT VIDEO! I had to clean the gunk with steel wool and bend the tips back. TO ANYONE WHO SEES THIS IN THE FUTURE, sometimes bending the tips TOO MUCH will lead to a short blowing out your fuse. Happened to me for the passenger side window. Just had to bend them back in the other direction just a little bit so that the pins never sit flush against the metal contact when you aren't pressing the switch up or down. Hope that makes sense.

this worked brilliantly!!! replaced my back left switch twice, no good. Did this, now ALL my windows work, including one that had been "broken" for 5 years!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Thank you so much. After watching your video, I was able to fix the power window switch of my 2001 Nissan Sentra. I followed the instructions, by trying taking it apart, and cleaned electrical contacts with Windex and WD40. Broke a little plastic part during the process by just being impatient. Put it all together, and now it works better than it ever did before. Thanks again and God Bless.

You are actually the first video I found that actually "FIX" the switch, most of them I downloaded the video and waste my time watching how to "REPLACE" the switch even though the title says "FIX" the switch.
Thank you. My switch doesn't look anything like that but regardless, I know it can be "FIX" without buying a replacement, I will give it a try.

Thanks for your tutorial. I've just fixed my power window switch! Glad did your thing as I was also able to repair cracks in the plastic levers and one of the tiny spring suspension in the switch with glue, heat, and pate, and prevent future problems. :-)

Thank you so much bro you saved me 100 bucks and wasting my time at the junkyard trying to find a switch-box. I just fixed/ and cleaned my pwr wnd swtich box for my Honda and Denali. I wish I would of knew this earlier, it would have saved me a few hundred I spent replacing my trucks swtch box at auto-zone ha ha. Your the man bro, great video and very thorough. Thank you so much!!!

Yep, a tip for you if you haven't tired this yet is to put some "Dielectric Grease" over the contacts so no more corrosion occurs so they will continue to work for a very long time.

    • @robertmattison1282
      @robertmattison1282 4 роки тому

Yes, I agree with, "Dielectric Grease" over the contacts so no more corrosion occurs so they will continue to work for a very long time. How did you get the car power window controls out, so you could wold on then. Perhaps re-do the video show this part or removing the power window main consol.

Saved me $60 thank you! I did have trouble getting those black things off, wish that had been covered in a bit more detail, I ended up snapping the wings off mine, then finally pulling them off with pliers, "straight up" (then they came off, though a bit scratched, at least the wings didn't get snapped off). Thank you!

God Bless you again OUTSTANDING VIDEO A +++++++++, keep doing these great VIDEOS.

Be careful with using steel wool, especially on the driver's side switch as little strands of the stuff can get in the transformer behind the switch and cause a short.

Well I think that it was just damaged beyond repair. The metal connectors had just lost their shape. It finally worked after doing what your prescribed--but then it wouldn't roll back up! Ordered a replacement switch off eBay reluctantly and snapped it in and it worked. But thank you again! Great video. Thanks for replying also.

Thank you so much for this upload, you saved me plenty of trouble, window stuck down away from home, and at least I was able to clean things up enough so I could get the window back up. I will finish the job to make things fully reliable, and it IS true that over time the contacts wear due to carbon and you need to clean them well and you MIGHT have to SLIGHTLY bend the copper metal contacts just a bit (NOT TOO MUCH) to have them make proper contact with the bottom mounted metal tabs. I would be VERY CAREFUL about using a pliers to bend! Just use a little gentile force with your fingers!

Thank you much! However...1995 accord ex drivers side window wouldn't roll up. I followed your instructions (also used qtips and alcohol for cleaning). It worked great! Drivers window rolls up/down. However, now the front passenger window does not work? The window control switch on drivers side and passenger front don't even make a noise in the window motor. I replaced the window motor & regulator 4 years ago. Any ideas?

My honda accord 2003 had the passenger side window clicking but not movin. a friend told me he fixed a similar problem by inserting a wire into the socket with the green and white striped wires and he could temporarily raise the windows of his car. i tried the same but now both my windows are not working. Before i tried this 'fix' i used to hear a clicking sound. now i hear nothing. I tried using your trick but i guess cars of 2003 cant have their switches open this easy. Appreciate your Help

Hello guys. i want to ask about the Power Window Switch. Today i dissasembled and cleaned those little copper sticks. When i dissasembled it, a plastic stick falled to the ground and it is supposed to trigger the auto-down function for the driver's window. The problem is, i installed it back in the same place but i think i did something wrong because it doesn't work now :/. I tried all 4 different positions and no luck so i suspect there's something else missing?? because it alone makes no sense there (the plastic stick). Thanks in advance!!

I did this, but now both my front windows don't work at all.
Drivers side could go up but almost impossible to go down; front passenger window could go down but not up without the help from the passenger side switch.
I cleaned both, now back two still work fine, but front two don't work at all. I bought a used master switch with similar results (front don't work, back work). Checked the front passenger side by itself: didn't work. Could the wiring been pulled somehow? if so where do you think?

The thing with my switch is that randomly while I'm driving I hear my switch make a clicking noise as if it's reprogramming itself , and when I go to move my window switch up or down, they don't work. After a while they begin to work. Would you suggest trying this for my vehicle?

I'm not an expert but I had the same problem, all other windows worked but the driver. I was told to look for a broken wire and I actually found one which someone that owned the vehicle before me had solder the wire together before and it was broken apart. I put them together and the window worked like brand new but if thats not it it may be the motor or regulator.
