You saved me $60 and 1 week waiting, I got it done in 15minutes! Thanks a lot and keep it up!
Thanks a million! Just replaced the window motor/actuator and learned it was just one switch in the master switch. I did exactly what your video showed and Voila. Perfect. You're the man!
OMG, I can't believe I just fixed the window by my self!
You are seriously awesome!
Easy to follow steps even for a gal like me!
Thank-you so much for posting this!!!!!!!
GREAT VIDEO! I had to clean the gunk with steel wool and bend the tips back. TO ANYONE WHO SEES THIS IN THE FUTURE, sometimes bending the tips TOO MUCH will lead to a short blowing out your fuse. Happened to me for the passenger side window. Just had to bend them back in the other direction just a little bit so that the pins never sit flush against the metal contact when you aren't pressing the switch up or down. Hope that makes sense.
this worked brilliantly!!! replaced my back left switch twice, no good. Did this, now ALL my windows work, including one that had been "broken" for 5 years!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Thank you so much. After watching your video, I was able to fix the power window switch of my 2001 Nissan Sentra. I followed the instructions, by trying taking it apart, and cleaned electrical contacts with Windex and WD40. Broke a little plastic part during the process by just being impatient. Put it all together, and now it works better than it ever did before. Thanks again and God Bless.
You are actually the first video I found that actually "FIX" the switch, most of them I downloaded the video and waste my time watching how to "REPLACE" the switch even though the title says "FIX" the switch.
Thank you. My switch doesn't look anything like that but regardless, I know it can be "FIX" without buying a replacement, I will give it a try.
Thanks for your tutorial. I've just fixed my power window switch! Glad did your thing as I was also able to repair cracks in the plastic levers and one of the tiny spring suspension in the switch with glue, heat, and pate, and prevent future problems. :-)
Wow! You are awesome, man! Thank you so much for taking the time to post this!! I was gonna buy a new terminal but I didn't have to cause I followed your instructions. You saved me 50 bucks!
Thank you so much bro you saved me 100 bucks and wasting my time at the junkyard trying to find a switch-box. I just fixed/ and cleaned my pwr wnd swtich box for my Honda and Denali. I wish I would of knew this earlier, it would have saved me a few hundred I spent replacing my trucks swtch box at auto-zone ha ha. Your the man bro, great video and very thorough. Thank you so much!!!
Yep, a tip for you if you haven't tired this yet is to put some "Dielectric Grease" over the contacts so no more corrosion occurs so they will continue to work for a very long time.
Yes, I agree with, "Dielectric Grease" over the contacts so no more corrosion occurs so they will continue to work for a very long time. How did you get the car power window controls out, so you could wold on then. Perhaps re-do the video show this part or removing the power window main consol.
You're the man, works like a charm! I wad on Amazon getting ready to pay 50+ bucks and then I found your video, took me all of 5 minutes. Thanks
Saved me money...was gonna spend 50 bucks on new switch...glad I checked before I threw more money at this problem...thanx
Saved me $60 thank you! I did have trouble getting those black things off, wish that had been covered in a bit more detail, I ended up snapping the wings off mine, then finally pulling them off with pliers, "straight up" (then they came off, though a bit scratched, at least the wings didn't get snapped off). Thank you!
So many things going wrong with my car. One throng I can fix with u help !! Thanx heaps . U r the Man !!
Outstanding video, have a Honda Accord 1996 EX wagon, had problems with right passenger, both rear windows did not work at all !! did some You Tubeing, ah ah ah after watched (How to troubleshoot power windows using a schematic Honda) helped found ground problem but still not working, then came across your video and followed it step by step, took it apart cleaned it, assembled it as you instructed, and it is working great, right passenger and both rear windows every thing operational, my compliments, you took me step by step, did not no the switch could be taken apart, that saved me money !!! and I learned. God Bless you again OUTSTANDING VIDEO A +++++++++, keep doing these great VIDEOS.
Worked like a charm, second time doing this in 2-3 months, but better than a 100 OEM switch. Cheers mate
Be careful with using steel wool, especially on the driver's side switch as little strands of the stuff can get in the transformer behind the switch and cause a short.
Thank you! Did the job on the wife's '96 accord, I really appreciate it.
Well I think that it was just damaged beyond repair. The metal connectors had just lost their shape. It finally worked after doing what your prescribed--but then it wouldn't roll back up! Ordered a replacement switch off eBay reluctantly and snapped it in and it worked. But thank you again! Great video. Thanks for replying also.
Thanks just got a pt cruiser. Now I know how to fix the switch. Great video. Clear and precise. Awesome.
Very nice. I have just cleaned/fixed mine 96 Accord using your tips. It works great now. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this upload, you saved me plenty of trouble, window stuck down away from home, and at least I was able to clean things up enough so I could get the window back up. I will finish the job to make things fully reliable, and it IS true that over time the contacts wear due to carbon and you need to clean them well and you MIGHT have to SLIGHTLY bend the copper metal contacts just a bit (NOT TOO MUCH) to have them make proper contact with the bottom mounted metal tabs. I would be VERY CAREFUL about using a pliers to bend! Just use a little gentile force with your fingers!
I missed the bit of cleaning the copper bits. Will try it again and post an update here.
Thanks a ton mate!
Best Regards,
Rahul
This worked perfectly.. the switch is working like new again. Thank you for the video.
Thanks, had 2 windows that would roll down but not up. Fixed the problem. Thank you again!
Dude u r a genius! Ty so much for the help :) U jus saved me $53. I will do my best to pass it on and help the next person I know w/ the same prob. Stay safe, good luck and God bless
Thank u. Just did this today and fixed everything.
Thank you. Solved my problem and saved me money.
awesome thanks for the tip , saved 55 bucks from not ordering one from Amazon!
Sweet! Thanks!
Check the wiring clip going to the main control for corrosion,If that checks out, pull the door panel off and check the wiring to the power window motor.."Before all of this First check the fuses though.
Thanky you for this video my window hasn't been workin since 2 years ago now it's back to life thanks!!!!
Did you try bending the copper pin like I showed in the video? That could be the reason why it's not making contact.
Thank you. This video saved me hundreds of dollars!
Man Your the greatest, saved Me 180.00!
simple and to the point ....gave u 7 out of 10 man
Really glad I could attribute to helping you out.

Thanks for the video, cleaning the switches totally solved my problem!
Glad I could help Nathan!
would dielectric / light bulb grease stop the carbon build up on the switch ?
Zoey M Yes it would, you should apply some if you have it on hand.
Very good video. Clear closeups. Good teacher. Thanks a lot.
(Nice to see a guy with dirty, calloused hands, too.)
Hmm what is it exactly doing or sounding like when you press the button?
This is very helpfull that i can actually repair the switch. But my problem is on my es330 2006, to actully to open the switch board from the door... I removed screw under the handle. i am bit scared to mishandle the look. the window on drive side does not opereate. someone told me it must be the switch. i would apprecite your advice. Thanks
Do you have to disconnect the battery for the airbag safety
Thanks Going To Try This Before I Replace Motor Thanks.
It Worked
Window Is Up Ordering New Switch Thanks.
Lucky Lucky Good For You,Learn The Basics Of Your New Ride.
Thank you. Gonna tackle my Mazda CX7 this weekend!!!!
nice video; help me a lot, but i have a question... whats the name of the light brown part, i mean the large brown part that contain the power window switch?
Excellent video. Repaired mine today. Thank you.
Awesome! glad this saved you money!
Hey mate, do you still have to remove the door panel to access to the window switch?
awesome. You saved me a lot of money
Anytime, glad to be of help!
Thank you! :-D I'm about to try this on my 2003 toyota celica GT. Unfortunately my driver side power window isn't working. But, my passenger side works perfectly.
Thank you much! However...1995 accord ex drivers side window wouldn't roll up. I followed your instructions (also used qtips and alcohol for cleaning). It worked great! Drivers window rolls up/down. However, now the front passenger window does not work? The window control switch on drivers side and passenger front don't even make a noise in the window motor. I replaced the window motor & regulator 4 years ago. Any ideas?
this is almost exact with what i'm working on..............the switches look the same, hopefully when i apply this to my power switch it will work.......
what kind of bulb would be used? my window switch for the drivers side window is illuminated and i want to convert to LED
Hey, sorry it didn't work that well for you but glad you got it fixed!
My honda accord 2003 had the passenger side window clicking but not movin. a friend told me he fixed a similar problem by inserting a wire into the socket with the green and white striped wires and he could temporarily raise the windows of his car. i tried the same but now both my windows are not working. Before i tried this 'fix' i used to hear a clicking sound. now i hear nothing. I tried using your trick but i guess cars of 2003 cant have their switches open this easy. Appreciate your Help
Thank for the instruction. I fix the power window switch on Dodge Caravan
Amaaaaaazing!! Thank you so much saved me $100!! (More if I had taken it to a mechanic!)
Glad I could help!
Glad I could help! Anytime.
Man, that's fantastic! Glad it helped you out!
What's the copper coil being behind the driver side window switch ?
Quck question, when I try to roll up my PG RR window from my the driver main swicthbox I blow that fuse. But when I roll it up from the PG RR window switch it is fine. Could the switch for that window be bad on the main driverside switchbox? Cant figure it out lol.
Hello guys. i want to ask about the Power Window Switch. Today i dissasembled and cleaned those little copper sticks. When i dissasembled it, a plastic stick falled to the ground and it is supposed to trigger the auto-down function for the driver's window. The problem is, i installed it back in the same place but i think i did something wrong because it doesn't work now :/. I tried all 4 different positions and no luck so i suspect there's something else missing?? because it alone makes no sense there (the plastic stick). Thanks in advance!!
Fixed it! Thanks so much. Worked like a charm!
Kat Beaulieu Glad I could help!
Thanks a million man.
thanks great video i will try it on my ford explorer main switch
Really glad I helped!
Will this work on a coupe?
Glad to help!
I did this, but now both my front windows don't work at all.
Drivers side could go up but almost impossible to go down; front passenger window could go down but not up without the help from the passenger side switch.
I cleaned both, now back two still work fine, but front two don't work at all. I bought a used master switch with similar results (front don't work, back work). Checked the front passenger side by itself: didn't work. Could the wiring been pulled somehow? if so where do you think?
Hey! I'm really glad I helped save you some money! Anytime.
I'm sure this would be the same process for an 04 accord coupe right?
The thing with my switch is that randomly while I'm driving I hear my switch make a clicking noise as if it's reprogramming itself , and when I go to move my window switch up or down, they don't work. After a while they begin to work. Would you suggest trying this for my vehicle?
Cheers mate helped me heaps
just awesome work!!!!!! my kinda of vid too! thank you so much for the break down! and it does work!, saved on buying new switch! and came in handy just in time! cause huge thunderstorms tonight! and I got it done just in time! thanks again!
brilliant. just fixed my window!
Looks like that could work with my problem thanks! Will let you know.
Man thank you very much, you just save me $400 worth of switches.
Thank you for the video and clear instructions!! Helped so much!
More then likely no..maybe on some models but the only thing holding it in is the screw inside it and the wires that need to be unplugged.
I'm not an expert but I had the same problem, all other windows worked but the driver. I was told to look for a broken wire and I actually found one which someone that owned the vehicle before me had solder the wire together before and it was broken apart. I put them together and the window worked like brand new but if thats not it it may be the motor or regulator.
You did a damned good job.
Thanks for the video, bought me a aftermarket switch and it's garbage, gonna give that a try
truckers life matters Mine worked perfect afterwards, never gave me issues again.
Great vid, would this work on an audi a4 (2004) switch? I beleive its the same issue but wondering if the switch can pop open to expose the terminals
How to repair the magnetic swith (driver´s window)
I love tips like this Nthefastlane! Do you think it will work on my 1999 Honda Passport?
