I have the same car, V70 D5 Summum 2005. I already own it for 10 years. 620.000 km an still going strong. I love this car like I love my old dog. Everytime I see my car I still like the design and the shape. I never had that with a car before. And of course I like to watch your videos.
It’s probably so simple to do, but could you say what you actually did in regards to the chrome grille. Is it just as simple as sand, prime, paint lacquer? Cheers
My first car was a 2006 V70 D5, I was reluctant at first but now I'm confident I'll drive it for the rest of my life. Unkillable motor, gorgeous even futuristic design and aesthetics, luxury comfort and that sweet sweet 5 cylinder sound. The car shines in a completely different light after you detailed it and 550 pounds for it is an insane bargain, mad props.
Over 40s? I'm in my 20s and these cars (S60 and V70) can be absolutely gorgeous. The angular design of the interior really was futuristic at the time and still looks modern. With a touch screen in the center dash no one would think the interior design was from late 2000...
Can’t wait to see how you clean the windows. I normally just use newspaper and basic household window cleaners, but you’ve got to spend so much time and in the right light because you get residue. Did used to use a steam cleaner with a squeeqy attachment, which if the steam was upto pressure was brilliant but when you was getting water drips it ruined it.
Hi Luke, awesome video,I do like people taking care of their car,I'm the same LOL,with just a wash it has brightened the paintwork, the grille is better with a spray, the next video is looking brilliant too.
I’ll be honest. I’m a little bit hesitant with those type of products unless it’s only on very light dusting. I believe it’s more like an exterior detailer isn’t it ?
Exactly! Enough to set off the paint work on the car is fine, but for some reason, Volvo like to go OTT with the chrome. I’ve followed the channel for a long time and as soon as I saw you bought a Volvo, I was more than a little bit excited 😁
What a great job you did on the V70, it was amazing! I wish you could wash my XC90 and XC70, but i'm here in California lol. I look forward to more Volvo content from you!
Looks boss, think I'm going to do my grill 2moz if it's still nice weather, looks so much better than the chrome. Might try my all black grill from my v40, looks the same size.
Awesome video as ever. I've recently bought a car, similar colour...ssangyong korando, I've driven vw's for the last 13 years, I guess it's a reverse midlife crisis for me. I'm going to lightly compound and then use poorboys black hole. It's good stuff for dark cars.
I’ve got a similar V70 D5, it’s got mega miles but keeps going. It’s got a bad repair to the drivers side panels unfortunately so I think a machine polish would be a waste, it’s also full of dents and scratches! I’m after a donor to panel it up and then it’ll be onto the detailing.
the GF and meself have 01 and 07 V70's so ... large smiles here. i see what you did with the chrome, even though.... i mean... i am not sure i would do that to mine. Getting old i guess. --> this was done on my 1998 v70, and the black paint peeled off. Fugly. Protect with some clear varnish/laquer/clearcoat ?
New subscriber here Volvo is coming along very nicely 👍 I’ve just got one that’s done 210k very good reliable work horses front grill looks amazing might have to do mine as the car is silver 😂
Luke which nilfisk pressure washer model are you using? Also you should consider buying a rotating nozzle attachment, quite cheap and can easily do the top of a range rover without having to use steps etc, also good for getting right down into the wheels and lower parts of the car without bending down
I dont know if you realize how insanely cool this car is to us North American people. You have a 07 V70 Magic blue D5 M66, which is just an insanely rare combination. Last model year, magic blue, d5, and M66! And yes, shame on you for almost wishing it was automatic. M66!
When you unscrew the brake master cylinder cap to check the level it is a good idea not to drop it down the back of the engine. Don't ask me how I know . . . . . . . .
I can only cause 3000 grit scratches that would buff out (and it’s going to be polished anyway), but a stone lodged between the body and towel could cause a deeper scratch that could be a problem.
Looking good bro! I personally would of gone full ham with a waterless wash if your cutting the paint anyway What colour are you painting the calipers? Thanks as always for the content
Probably red. I tried a few colours in photoshop and red seemed to toe the line between classy and sporty on this. Yellow and blue were a little bit in your face.
Its looking good 👌 once polished it will be like new Sadly I had to lay my Volvo S80 to rest just to far gone to justify keeping the old girl on the road 346000 miles she's had a good life I'm left driving a pug 308 SW given by a family member I'm in the market for a replacement for my s80 matey 😉😉 I need a Volvo in my life this pug is not for me 😂😂😂
Torque Steer I’ll have the A4 for £750 ;-) Seriously though, that Volvo is coming up lovely. I was given a Mk4 Golf GTi recently that had been stood for 3 years. It’s now on the road and looks great but could do with a full detail. I had a battle with getting rid of mould inside, but still a slight smell.
hi, i have the same volvo as yours, the car is really low emergency but not comfortable, the suspension is very noisy and it hits the uneasiness, only the seats are comfortable, after 130km / h it is getting loud in the car, this year i am going to change the v70 for Mercedes W211 better comfort and silence. Regards
I once heard the V70 described as classless. Meaning they don’t look out of place in any situation and don’t reveal what socio-economic “class” the owner might fit into.
i have one just drive it like it was made for .good bus work horse best comfortable cheap old girls .not a show car .get it washed now and again .best car for the money if your a diy mechanic
I have the same car, V70 D5 Summum 2005. I already own it for 10 years. 620.000 km an still going strong. I love this car like I love my old dog. Everytime I see my car I still like the design and the shape. I never had that with a car before. And of course I like to watch your videos.
I've done that with every Volvo I've owned with a chrome grille, looks so much better! Still a handsome looking car that.
They have aged pretty well for a 20 year old design.
It’s probably so simple to do, but could you say what you actually did in regards to the chrome grille. Is it just as simple as sand, prime, paint lacquer? Cheers

i love volvo wagons, hope to own one oneday. great video.
Not usually a fan of spray painting stuff but the grill looks so much better
Luke, you are just posting V70 mk2 porn to get us over 40s excited. Love what you did to the grill, looks fantastic on a navy
Thanks Ethan. I’m pretty pleased with it myself. I wanted the S60 grill but apparently they don’t fit.
It looks really well. This is like a one to one tuition for me, I've got a mk2, my dream estate and just getting into car pride. Love your work mate
Im 17, with a volvo from dad, and i love that car! Its so nice to drive and sounds epic!
@@TorqueSteer They do fit with a little modification, you have to break the tabs off and make a new way to secure it in but it's worth it IMO
Over 40s? I'm in my 20s and these cars (S60 and V70) can be absolutely gorgeous. The angular design of the interior really was futuristic at the time and still looks modern. With a touch screen in the center dash no one would think the interior design was from late 2000...
The grille make a huge difference, looks great! Beautiful lines.. paint correction is going to be the icing on the cake!
I painted my chrome grille black on my v70. my first ever paint job so it turned out a little bit rough around the edges. Still happy with the result
What a steel this D5 for 550 pounds. That engine will go on forever, good luck with improving it!
Amazing series and a brilliant channel. My V70 D5 engine has done 330,000 miles and still going strong.
bladeboy2041 that’s good going. Mine’s on 232k and going fine. Wish it was as clean as the one in the video though LOL
Love watching your vids. Although I hate washing cars and I've not washed my car over 3years. Something about your channel is just pure awesome
Brilliant clean up of a solid old bus, still got lots of life in it, keep well sir, always enjoy your videos
Used to own one. Timeless design and still handsome if treaded well!

I found Sam’s glass cleaner and a magic eraser really good. I’ve got an overkill video for glass on my channel :)
Absolutely superb video again!!! The music on this one was also brilliantly 80s!!!!! Loved it!!!!
Lovely Jubbly, looking better after just the wash process.
Grill looks so much better! Great video! Looking forward to part 2 👍
Gosh damn the thumbnail! Probably the best I've seen from you Luke!
Can't wait for episode 2
love the D5 V70'S
It should be uploaded next week :)
Hi Luke, awesome video,I do like people taking care of their car,I'm the same LOL,with just a wash it has brightened the paintwork, the grille is better with a spray, the next video is looking brilliant too.
Great vid Luke. The black grill looks a million times better
Thanks Richard. Sometimes the smaller things make a difference.
Love volvos they go on forever built like bricks have u ever used showroom shine greased lighting mate its brilliant mate no water needed
I’ll be honest. I’m a little bit hesitant with those type of products unless it’s only on very light dusting. I believe it’s more like an exterior detailer isn’t it ?
I’m so glad you got rid of that chrome! I did the very same thing to my XC60 last week and it looks a million times better for it.
I like a bit of chrome but it was just overkill. Especially with a white number plate on the front.
Exactly! Enough to set off the paint work on the car is fine, but for some reason, Volvo like to go OTT with the chrome. I’ve followed the channel for a long time and as soon as I saw you bought a Volvo, I was more than a little bit excited 😁
Nice video, hope to see more of this Volvo stuff, do video on painting calipers.
I really like what you did to the grille! It looks a lot better!
I can almost 'feel' the car saying "thankyou".. :)
Satisfying video to watch. Love the music too.
what a coincidence, ive been looking for some decent detailing video because they are satisfying then i got a notification your video is out!
Check out @whitedetails. He’s a detailing Jedi.
What a great job you did on the V70, it was amazing! I wish you could wash my XC90 and XC70, but i'm here in California lol. I look forward to more Volvo content from you!
Ah yes, I would rather be driving this up California’s coast. Or all the way to Georgia on the east :D
Been waiting for this video to drop, top work as always luke 🙌
Excellent video. I have an XC70 that I would love to be as sharp as yours. Thanks for the info!
Headlights looked amazing!
Yes, Luke the detailer is back!
Haha, I’ve got the time at the moment.
Nice one. Cheers from Finland. I have a V60 2013, but damn...
I was thinking of getting the same project/daily car, I'll have to think again. Wise choice though, getting rid of the fusion.
See, the Fusion was worth it 😉 I don’t think you can get more car for the money when it comes to these though.
I've the same model and color. Definitely subbed!
Great job Luke. Can't wait for part 2! :-)
Could not click quick enough. Great content. 👌
Glad you enjoyed!
Fantastic. Love your work btw, vids are spot on.
Looks boss, think I'm going to do my grill 2moz if it's still nice weather, looks so much better than the chrome. Might try my all black grill from my v40, looks the same size.

Looking forward to the next video

I’ve never actually tried the poorboys stuff. I’m going to be using Koch Chemie and Avalon King.

Hopefully it will land next week
Torque Steer be great to see the results mate
Good effort Luke mate
Thanks
A xenon headlight upgrade would be cool (not those really cheap lights of ebay they are just blue.)
It’s got factory Xenons installed :)

Not yet but it might not be as bad as I though. I’ll be posting an update on the mechanics once it’s about to go on the road.

What was that black stuff you applied to the engine cover witht the roller?
Black Perl Trim and Tire Armour.
Hi what the pressure washer you have
When you unscrew the brake master cylinder cap to check the level it is a good idea not to drop it down the back of the engine. Don't ask me how I know . . . . . . . .
When it comes to grills and changing the colour, plastidip or similar products are your friend.
Yeah they are. But a grill is only £15 from eBay for this so it wasn’t worth spending £10 on a can for me.
@@TorqueSteer that's cheap for sure. My c30 one cost me £50 ,was cheapest i could find at the time
@@tesstickle7267 facelift or pre facelift?

Lovin it!! 💕
Does make the grill look a lot better spraying it Luke.
Thanks Fiona :)
What pressure washer do you use ?
wht would you dry the car with such care when you dont mask the headlights up whilst sanding

Grate video mate what brand of drying towel is it
Sam's Detailing :)
good work ;)
Great video Luke, nice job,I caught a glimpse of the astra,do you still drive it?😀👍
Not at the moment since the dump is shut and it’s full of things waiting to go there. I want to give it some TLC after this lockdown is over.
How's that upper engine mount looking (the one on the strut brace)?
Seems to be looking fairly solid. I’ve not really paid it much attention though.
I think i get the Volvo V70 virus and i am happy about it , thank you
How many kilometers on the clock of your v70?
Approx 280,000km. Or 180,000mi here in the uk.
Torque Steer not that much for this engine
Looking good bro!

Brembo bike gold !
What is the interior code?
You turned the V70 into a sauna with that leather jacket on.
Haha. I needed something to clip my mic to. Good job I was only there for 5 mins.
I cant tell if your 20 or 35 but I link the mystery 🤣
Hes actually 57
How much would it cost for a detailer to do what you have done in this video?
