Update: I just updated my spreadsheet for the athena emissary quest, and it is actually worth it. The only method better for leveling athena is a FoF, so that is the one emissary quest I'd actually recommend.

For sure. I do have a spreadsheet for xp gained in hg from a while back, might have to make a new vid going over that and when you should lower your flag based on your win rate or something

Thanks man! I did it all without an emissary to keep things consistent, but that is another topic to go over, how much your emissary flag goes up with each event. If going for Athena I’d probably do a LotV or a FoF first to get grade 5 then Athena skelly ships on repeat if you want max Athena XP. If you did skelly ships first you’d have to sell at grade 3 or 4 probably
Thanks for the video. I saw you mentioned you will be putting out a vid for HG. However, with the new athena voyages just announced, if you could combine them with this HG vid, that would be awesome!

Glad you liked it! A lot of the methods I talk about might not be the easiest for new players, so you can check the spreadsheet to see what’s the best out of methods you like
So its been a long time since since I’ve played I hit pirate legend and stopped. When you have the Athena emissary raised where do you turn in the loot. Ik legend items go to the stranger but what about generic skulls and chests?
If you own a captained ship you can sell everything to the sovereigns! I’d really recommend buying one, it makes life so much easier. Otherwise you can still bring loot to their respective trading companies. Skulls to the purple order of souls tent under the pirate emporium, chests and trinkets to the gold hoarder green tent, merchant cargo and crates to the merchant on the dock, and Athena chests, trinkets, skulls, and crates can all go to the mysterious stranger
Doing a fort of the damned stack as a guild or merchant alliance emissary is great but only if you risk keeping the kegs. Otherwise Merchant ghost or skelly fleet raids are great. I’d probably do emergent world event stacking since it is slightly slower than the raids, but you gain levels for the other factions along the way too.
I guess there is a method that people have used to get distinction 5 in merchant already. It has something to do with devils roar cargo runs but I’m not 100% sure of the method. Apparently YooKay is going to have a video on it soon so keep an eye out!
16:35 So for leveling the season you: - dive to an "Ashen Winds Raid" - vote to cancel the quest (probably near the end of the event) - do the event and collect the "normal" loot - rinse and repeat Am I right?
Yup! That allowed me to get 4 ashen winds raids with full loot pool in an hour with guild emissary, or around 275k gold which it’s crazy good for a solo player
I think there is a leveling method for merchant that you haven't looked at. Ashen Cargo Runs. You can collect the cargo and then cancel the voyage but still have the cargo with delivery time and place. That way you can collect even more cargo. You just need to know how to manipulate it to abuse it. It is best if you start at merchant emissary grade 5 to optimize it but it isn't needed since you will get emissary grade for selling cargo. You start at Roaring Traders. Vote for the Ashen Cargo Run with 4 pieces of Cargo. Collect the 4 pieces at Roaring Traders and place the plants at the bottom of the ship with enough water. After that cancel voyage. Then you have to start the same voyage 7 times in a row and canceling the first 6 of them. The first 6 will not be for roaring traders but the 7th will be. So once accepting the 7th voyage then collect again. The delivery will always be for Fetcher's Rest but we only want to sell once we feel like we are happy with the amount of cargo and that we can still deliver the cargo in time. So if you repeat the canceling and picking up cargo you can end up with a tons of cargo crates that all needs to be delivered to the same place. At emissary grade 5 the gold gain will be between around 3.5k to 4.9k per piece (Depending on if it is a good Ashen cargo variant or not) if it is in perfect condition and delivered in time. Be aware of the volcano close by. If it erupts you have to sail away so you won't get hit. I did this as a solo and probably stacked around 52-60 cargo crates with this method. I leveled from 97 3/4 in merchant to level 5 (distinction 1) in about 1½-2 hours. I don't believe you can do it that quickly with any of the merchant methods mentioned in this video. It is probably most effective if you do it with 3 people. You can have one on the seapost collecting the cargo and placing it to be harpooned by the players on the ship. The 2 players on the ship will be responsible for accepting and canceling the voyages and placing the cargo on the ship.
Yes there are currently cheese strats for merchant and gold hoarders that I found out about after making the video. They seem pretty lame imo but I know a lot of people will use them
Yeah I’ve seen a lot of videos that say that an event takes “about this long” or you earn “about this much gold” and doesn’t compare it to any other method, they just say it’s the best, so I wanted to actually see what events were worth doing
so of the Emissary quests that I have done, I find that the Athena one is very good, though I don't know how it compares to before because I never did them. I usually get a full level or 2 just from it. then, the Gold hoarders is also very effective, giving you 10 chests, 4 Baron and 6 higher value ones, which give around the same rep as Athena, if a little less. The order of souls is questionable, getting you 10 skulls, a combination of Vile and the other kind of skull they give. I have not done a merchant one because I only saw 2 contracts and I didn't think it would bew worth it. Maybe I'm wrong though
Yeah that sounds about right. The loot pool is fine, it’s just the time it takes to complete it. It took me 25 mins to finish compared to 11 for the skeleton fleet raid, and their loot values are about the same, so I’d rather just keep doing those
Personally I’d just do the full veil. It might be slightly faster to do the three shipwrecks (haven’t tried myself) but it seems to be roughly as long as completing all 3 sections of the veil. Doing this will help with commendations as well as getting the level up. Although, from what I’ve seen the FoF is still the best for leveling Athena, it just can’t be done back to back so easily
@@kmk66666having tried many Athena mission variations the Roar veil shipwrecks are the best after rank ( before rank 50 you get over a level but after it drops significantly) Boring but effective. Fof are great but as you said you can not stack them. 3 shipwrecks to rank 5 and it’s 6 to 8 pieces of the higher Athena loot in under 30 minutes solo with very little effort. I just cancel after the first dive as it’s a quick sail to the next shipwreck. I never do the emmisary mission now.
I might make some trading company specific guide videos myself. Since you've already done the research, do you mind if I just cite this video? Of course, I'm not just going to be regurgitating what you said. It will be my own video with unique points and reasons to exist, putting your research into a new context. Is that alright?
Yeah go for it! Some of the data isn’t the best anymore, since all raids got loot buffs soon after this, but the time to complete should be pretty much the same
Yup, that’s why I encourage trying things yourself and seeing what is the best! Too many people put blind faith into their favorite content creator and only do things that way because they said so in their “single best way to level up” video where they don’t show any other methods.
I feel like loot cancle meathod should be left in because it gives you total control over what you want to do in a session with the time you have to play. As a speed runner this season you lose Gold curse in 48hrs and OOS weapon set in 30mins for free, but you gain: Gold Vault sails Gold Hoarder weapons set coms Damned captain Sails Barnacle Gold sets Ashen Winds coms And the ability to farm All ashen coms easily. Besides Free FOTD stacking and In way less time for set up Besides the bonus of sail time is less and no more wasting time server hopping. Havnt tested a new account to PL yet this season BUT I'm betting it can be done in under 12 hours of play time. As a speedrunner.
According to LD the xp curves have changed. I’m sure you can get more loot now than ever before thanks to diving, but you need even more of it to get pirate legend. In my speed run it took 3 sea forts to get level 15 in everything, and LD said that he did multiple world events, including a fleet of fortune, and only got to level 8 on all three this season
@@kmk66666 that's wild. And interesting because I wonder if they're trying to put a focus on the new loot and their XP for grinding specific factions, vs all loot. Hence why alot of things now are one track based.
@@kmk66666ok so after testing and playing alot of season 11 you can speedrun PL in under 6 hours without community day as a duo. At 50 lvls a faction an hour. :)
@@kmk66666 yep. Except there's more to it to really break it at 2mil an hour. Most people trying are only getting maybe 1mil an hour and 35lvls. Exploit speed running go brrrrr. But LD got distinction 5 in a week so I think he knows a bit about season 11 exploits too unless he did an alliance server 😂
I haven’t tested it to be 100% sure, but as far as I can tell it takes him just as long to do 3 shipwrecks as it does to do the whole 3 steps of the veil, so personally I’d rather just do the whole thing and get all of the loot. It also helps with commendations since there are a lot of them for the LotV. You have to complete each type of quest in it so many times, and then get 100 completions so even if it’s slightly better the commendations make the completion worth it for me
@@kmk66666 Makes sense, I think doing the shipwrecks is a good start to get to grade 5 with less risk, but other than that doing the whole thing is probably better. Either that, or just spamming Ashen Winds until the skelly fleet is unlocked lol
Video on it coming soon. It doesn’t work the best for this format since win rates, time to finish battles, flags sold, and streaks obtained vary wildly from player to player. I will look at when to lower based on your win rate for most gold/xp gains
Now that voyages are free….have you tested spamming just the sunken ship LotV modules over and over again? Because I always felt like that was probably the easiest and fastest way to level Athena’s fortune emissary rank.
I saw Phuzzy’s vid on it and it seems to take the same amount of time to do 3 of those as it does a full LotV, or at least close to it. So I’d rather do the whole thing to get the chest of legends and the completion for commendations. However I’d have to test it myself to be 100% sure. Could also be different with a larger crew since they can loot the sunken ships pretty quickly
Yeah I haven't done any real in depth testing on it, and I get tired of doing the same thing over and over again so I generally just run the whole LotV as well, Athena's Fortune is such a PITA to grind rep for though. @@kmk66666
Lol man. With these Athena results compared to other emissaries is very slow, gonna be a pain to level up. And I am basically trying to level up Athena more then anything. Maybe is worth waiting to see if they update the values of Athena stuff next season?
Yeah they did make it better this season. I believe Athena has low emissary values because they wanted it to be more of a grind in previous season, but to make it easier this season they reduced the amount of value over all instead of bumping up the emissary values. So it shouldn’t be as much of a grind as it used to be. Level 20 to 30 took forever when they first bumped up that level cap
Not necessarily. Gold hoarder is fleet of fortune, athena is FoF, if you just want OoS do skelly fleet or fort raids, and merchant is fotd if you keep kegs. There you go. Time saved. Emergent world events are on average about as good as Fotd this season because of the chest of fortune change.
@@kmk66666 I disagree. Totally respect your opinion. But I don’t think you are really calculating the fact the fotd levels up all these factions simultaneously with a guild emissary still at 2.5x value. Certainly the stronghold barrels make it the best for merchant. But the others are going to tick away at the same time. Also, you can crank out Veils WAY faster than FoFs once you get quick with them. And you can stack those while you can’t stack FoFs. Just my opinion! I’m in the works of showing it but am out of the country this week. But it is insanely fast just in the time “not lost” so to speak.
@@xxDAMRONxx the record for a LotV is 28 minutes solo. I did a FoF casually in 22 minutes solo. Also I first go over the best for reapers/guild and that factors in all factions. Coming in first was the skelly fleet because it gives about 75% of the rep and gold of a fotd for all factions but only takes 11 minutes to complete without any set up time
@@kmk66666 right so do the skelly fleet. Do it 10 times in a row. Dive for it. Then go sell. Then dive for it. Then go sell. Then dive for it. Then go sell..etc. Next, server hop for a natural skelly fleet (don’t dive) so you get 4-6 ritual skulls. Do a destiny voyage and go stack 10 forts with the guild 5 emissary flag you got from doing the fleet and destiny voyage and calculate the difference. You can literally do 6 FotDs in an hour with 2 people. As of right now you can’t “stack” the diveable raids so the time lost is in selling every time. Solo I agree it’s difficult to stack FotD but even with two people you can plow a FotD in under 10 minutes and level all factions simultaneously as if you were grade 5 in each. Trust me, I’m a content creator too just as hobby not a big UA-camr (which is why I’m here supporting your video). You are just underestimating the time lost sailing to and from outposts to sell compared to stacking (in my opinion). The big kicker is that the methods you are showing a probably the *best* way to hop on and bang out some progress without a long session. That, I agree with. But in the sense of truly grinding out levels I think if you test what I said above. The only real roadblock to this method is that it gets monotonous and boring.
@@kmk66666 and for the record you may be right about Athena. I’ll have to test it out. I’m more concerned about having to sell for diveable raids compared to stacking veils (especially now that the quests always give you nearby islands). I’ll have to test that one out
The best methods would be the ones listed first with the highest total emissary value since reapers doesn’t care about what company. So basically just doing emergent world events instead of diving to them, or doing fort of the damned. You could also do hourglass but that all depends on your skill level.
As far as I know it’s still working. Just beware that you can get another diver to the event while you’re doing it, so wait to cancel as long as you can. It works for ashen winds, and the 2nd and 3rd waves of loot for the skelly fleet. I tried the ghost fleet and it doesn’t seem to work there.
The best way to level them over time is just turning all gems in there, but honestly I’d just spend some time fishing. I hit level 50 but then decided to get my fish done later, so I spent a couple weeks fishing anyway. The best place to go is the Hunters Calling discord to find other fishermen
It can be good if you’re doing a lost shipment, but then you can’t dive to it. It is a good tip however if you’re doing emergent world event stacking or sea forts to just buy the them when you start, but doing cargo just on their own isn’t that great. I could test it to be 100% sure though
@@Baked42L0ng tried it. Got 29 levels solo in 80 mins. I’m going to let YooKay post his video on it before I say anything about it. The strategy has been known for a while but I guess he has some added tips that got him to distinction 5. I won’t have anything to add to it so don’t wanna take views from him
Not a bad question, I’ll have to check. I’m kinda sick of hg atm lol but maybe I’ll check some streams to see how much emissary value they gain each win
The only problem is it’s so inconsistent. Average fight time can be such a wide range, and win rate is important too. Also not guaranteed a certain emissary flag as a reward which is a big part of your leveling up.
True, but from my experience right now a lot of people are hopping back into hourglass to level, plus even if you sink its super easy to hop right back into it@@kmk66666
I called them Sea Forts for my graphs. They’re listed as the 7th best overall for reaper/guild rep. I used them a lot for pirate legend speedruns since they’re almost as good as world events while being a lot safer
Yeah they usually calculate it for dime at the event not including sailing/selling time too to make it seem a lot better than it actually is. Or underestimate the time it take to actually do it because they didn’t time it themselves.
1. I found out about this method to cheese it after I made the video. 2. I made a community post on my channel to give an update on it. 3. I was focused on testing the new raids and comparing them to other events. I tested 40 events and that one slipped through the cracks because I didn’t think it would be that great. 4. Like I said, it’s cheesy and a very boring method, but you are right it is the best way to grind it, and I’m going to let YooKay post his video about it instead of making an update video myself because he used it to get distinction 5 and I heard about it from him. 5. No need for toxicity.
Update: I just updated my spreadsheet for the athena emissary quest, and it is actually worth it. The only method better for leveling athena is a FoF, so that is the one emissary quest I'd actually recommend.

does it still works 16:39 ? just started playing again after a few months off. very good video very helpful man well done
I believe so! I’ve been playing Overwatch the last week so haven’t tested for sure
Did you tested that method of basically getting only LotV shipwrecks and seeing if it is worth doing more than fleet?
Thanks for this! :D
Some of the data isn’t the best anymore, since all raids got loot buffs soon after this, but the time to complete should be pretty much the same
@@kmk66666 alright, thanks so much
i think this is including that you are good at the game, for noobs i think most of raids take like double the time
Yup, that’s why I encourage trying things yourself and seeing what is the best! Too many people put blind faith into their favorite content creator and only do things that way because they said so in their “single best way to level up” video where they don’t show any other methods.
@@kmk66666 hahaha ofc i included myself in the noob cattegory
when you say skelle fleet, do you mean the new fleet of fortune or just a regular fleet
Fleet of fortune. I tried to say “raid” whenever it was one of the diveable events
I feel like loot cancle meathod should be left in because it gives you total control over what you want to do in a session with the time you have to play.
As a speed runner this season you lose Gold curse in 48hrs and OOS weapon set in 30mins for free, but you gain:
Gold Vault sails
Gold Hoarder weapons set coms
Damned captain Sails
Barnacle Gold sets
Ashen Winds coms
And the ability to farm All ashen coms easily.
Besides Free FOTD stacking and
In way less time for set up
Besides the bonus of sail time is less and no more wasting time server hopping.
@@N3WH0R1Z0NS using the sea fort raid death method? I haven’t played much since a lot of the exploits have been found this season
This video is amazing.
What are your thoughts on the Athena Devil’s Roar shipwreck graveyard strategy? The one Phuzzybond made a video on.
How come you didn’t get any data on hourglass for reapers & Athena?, was it just because it wouldn’t be generalisable to every player or what?🤔
Video on it coming soon.
Level 20 to 30 took forever when they first bumped up that level cap
such a good video
FotD with guild emissary. Legend of the veil for Athena. There you go. Time saved.
I’ll have to test that one out
For reapers to level them up to 100 from 75 do you know some fast way yo earn xp?
The best methods would be the ones listed first with the highest total emissary value since reapers doesn’t care about what company. So basically just doing emergent world events instead of diving to them, or doing fort of the damned. You could also do hourglass but that all depends on your skill level.
can you do one on call of the hunter?
Wait I just realized, can you do that glitch with a phantom fleet and farm wraith balls?
I tried it with the phantom fleet and it surprisingly doesn’t work. So it’s just the ashen winds and the 2nd and 3rd waves of the skeleton fleet
@@kmk66666 dang, might still try myself though to be sure lol
Has the voyage cancel thing been patched?
As far as I know it’s still working. Just beware that you can get another diver to the event while you’re doing it, so wait to cancel as long as you can. It works for ashen winds, and the 2nd and 3rd waves of loot for the skelly fleet. I tried the ghost fleet and it doesn’t seem to work there.
Hunter's call?
nice video new sub
What about Hunters Call?
The best way to level them over time is just turning all gems in there, but honestly I’d just spend some time fishing. I hit level 50 but then decided to get my fish done later, so I spent a couple weeks fishing anyway. The best place to go is the Hunters Calling discord to find other fishermen
Very nice. Like.. rare could do it. Ggs
For Athena pvp is the best way to level it up
Not for everybody! But I’ll have a new video on it soon
i subbed so that you get to 169 subs
lol
No mention of cargo anywhere….. You don’t like the infinite money printer?
It can be good if you’re doing a lost shipment, but then you can’t dive to it. It is a good tip however if you’re doing emergent world event stacking or sea forts to just buy the them when you start, but doing cargo just on their own isn’t that great. I could test it to be 100% sure though
@@kmk66666 its something you stack you dont do just one….. it requires either a crew or a lot of grunt work but it pays ….. boooooooring tho
@@Baked42L0ng yeah I’m currently watching LD’s vod to see how they do it. Seems really strong but yeah kinda boring lol
@@kmk66666 yeah its boring asf but i got my merchant done in 2 days
@@Baked42L0ng tried it. Got 29 levels solo in 80 mins. I’m going to let YooKay post his video on it before I say anything about it. The strategy has been known for a while but I guess he has some added tips that got him to distinction 5. I won’t have anything to add to it so don’t wanna take views from him
What about hourglass
Not a bad question, I’ll have to check. I’m kinda sick of hg atm lol but maybe I’ll check some streams to see how much emissary value they gain each win
The only problem is it’s so inconsistent. Average fight time can be such a wide range, and win rate is important too. Also not guaranteed a certain emissary flag as a reward which is a big part of your leveling up.
True, but from my experience right now a lot of people are hopping back into hourglass to level, plus even if you sink its super easy to hop right back into it@@kmk66666
So basically, skeleton fleet op.
Maybe, a lot has changed since then. Buffed raid loot and a lot of exploits found. I haven’t played SoT much lately so haven’t updated the video
wheres the pantom forts?
I called them Sea Forts for my graphs. They’re listed as the 7th best overall for reaper/guild rep. I used them a lot for pirate legend speedruns since they’re almost as good as world events while being a lot safer
@@kmk66666 oh ok
Can we have a game one day please
i hear no lies
I hate when i hear X gold per hour because that’s never actually relevant
Yeah they usually calculate it for dime at the event not including sailing/selling time too to make it seem a lot better than it actually is. Or underestimate the time it take to actually do it because they didn’t time it themselves.
@@kmk66666 like you said, the time taken is all player skill based.
