Great video, will this device support rear facing camera too? This way you have cameras front and rear for accident's.
Love to see if you could get anything to fit the redundant jaguar satnav kits on the old xk8
Would be great if it had front and rear cameras.
Gliches in the machine
great video, but got to ask, whats the gloves for?
Because I eat my fingers :)
Looks like a good compromise for the new cars where the head unit is too integrated to be replaced.
Any idea if this would also work in a vehicle with an aftermarket head unit that has wired Apple CarPlay?
Yes it will
Does this device’s camera unit have a power cable that goes into the cigarette lighter? Or is it only recording when connected to a vehicle’s Apple CarPlay USB port?
It needs to be in the CarPlay USB port. You would still have normal CarPlay wirelessly
With a data sim, am I able to view my camera from anywhere on my phone? Basically needing to know if this has "live view". Thanks
No it does not. But there are cameras that do
I have a 2016 Merc A Class so the Apple Carplay USB socket is in the arm rest. Will the USB cable reach that far?
Yes it should if you put the wire inside the trims, and even if it doesn't, a good USB extension wire will do the trick
And I actually recently did a video running a USB wire into the arm rest
@@SaabUnleashed Yes I watched that and was considering the unit in the video but I liked the idea of the integrated camera. I was unsure if the lead would reach around the windscreen and down to the USB socket.
Thanks for your replies. 🙂
Do you have a top 5 head unit vid
My g35 needs a new unit but I also want apple car play and able to add video cam and amps
I so lost on audio stuff
I have a pile of head units here to review, so I'll do a top 5 in a month or so
@@SaabUnleashed thank you Sir
Okay, for the uninitiated, what is that head unit?
It's the factory head unit in the Mustang Mach-e
On the Carlinkit site it indicated they offer both an Android 12 and Android 9 version of this device. Which version did you test?
This was the Android 12 version
@@SaabUnleashed Thanks for the quick reply.
Did you find this unit to be slow to start / laggy?
I was just about to order one (my XC40 recharge only has CP-wired, and Android Auto support never materialized), as this looked to be just the ticket. But I got cold feet after seeing another reviewer gave the unit a "Hard Pass"

I re-watched your video - I see it took about 30 seconds from the moment you plugged it in (with the car running). And the unit seemed pretty responsive when starting / running apps. If the 30 seconds doesn't increase substantially when it starts in parallel with the car infotainment, I think that's probably acceptable (for me).
Only other concern is how good the videos it takes are (some reviews indicate it possibly suffers from "glitching"/ artifacts when recording at speed), but that could be related to many factors...
@@nathanhill5212 hi, I’m in the exact same boat as you, did you end up buying one? Are you happy with it?
Will it work with carpuride ?
Technically it should. Good question, I'll try
Can the camera also used inside to run a webex session - while loading the the car
