Tommy Rich is very underappreciated in the business. In the early 80's there was no one more over than "Wildfire". He was great & the reason I got into wrestling.
I used to see him nearly every Monday Night at Bell Auditorium in Augasta Georgia. I was there the night he won the title from Harley Race, though in subsequent years I've learned the story behind it.

Dutch Mantel has said that during the big run of the Memphis territory in the 80's, it was so successful,in part, because the wrestlers treated it like a shoot.

This was shown every week in Memphis then the next week in Nashville. Only difference was it was settled Monday night I Memphis and Saturday night at the Fairgrounds in Nashville. Both matches exactly alike.
Good acting from Peggy, especially the breaking voice around three minutes in. I rarely heard the Memphis studio audience shut up for someone like they do for her (before Valiant and Tojo show up). She really had their attention.
Imagine Mrs. Runnels cutting a promo like this in the run up to All In. "Cody's changed! He's moping around." Mrs. Rich cut one of the greatest promos in Wrestling history.

GCW did this angle a couple of years later with Buzz Sawyer's mother, who was making a similar plea, seemingly haven fallen on deaf ears. 20 or so minutes later (heel) Buzz chargers the the ring to save his brother (face) Brett Sawyer who was being brutalized by the Road Warriors (Sawyer at the time was being managed by Paul Ellering). I don't believe Sawyer's mother was accosted though, if memory serves.

Valiant lost a battle royal where the prize was a color tv. Koko Ware won,Jimmy got mad and beat him up and smashed the TV. Then Rich's mom shows up and well...
