Nice Obsidian promotion video! Nicely showcases it's features and why nobody is leaving it for some other program that I've never heard of and I can see why. Thanks!
For someone who doesn't have any customizations for Obsidian and gets it to work out of the box without any issues, I am really happy with Obsidian. The Local first part is important to me. So, until I see another tool that has this out of the box, I don't think I would want to switch...
I switched to Logseq, Obsidian is cool but felt a bit bloated after a while. Also I prefer the outline first approach of Logseq. Just use whatever fits you best ☺️
@@Vreth6 agreed wholeheartedly. if I were using outlines a lot -- and I know people where that is the main workflow -- logseq would be a much better option than Obsidian.
"However, people have been shifting to Capacities, lately" ... who are these people? Are we talking 5, or 50 000? ... where are you getting these numbers? ... are people also leaving Capacities for Obsidian? Fewer people? More people?
I used Capacities and Obsidian for two years and I have now given up on Capacities. Every single release creates new bugs and annoying changes. I'm now using Obsidian 100% of the time. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH CAPACITIES - the team doesn't know how to create a bug-free product, they don't care about quality.
Obsidian gives me freedom in design. It gives me a place to think that I can adapt to my needs at any time. And most importantly: I can do this with all my data, even confidential data, because it is processed locally. This is the reason why I can use it professionally at all. If you understand the beauty of Obsidian, you won't think about other tools. I won't comment on the clickbait headline...
Why are you comparing an online service that uses a proprietary format with a markdown editor that works offline? One is an app, the other a service. They are not even in the same league. Nobody is leaving Obsidian for this. Different markets.
I'm one of those who left Obsidian for Capacities, but even in my opinion, the claim is too bold and the video was totally biased. Okay, we need plug-ins in obsidian, there was no need to repeat it 100 times 😅 The fact is you can do things with Obsidian's plug-ins that you can never think of in Capacities. But I do agree that this amount of freedom can be counterproductive and time-consuming. A big advantage of Obsidian is the compatablity with third-party apps like reference managers and also the ease of managing your database. But for everyday use Capacities gives you a more refined and polished experience.
Obsidian did take time to set up. I must have spent tons of hours just customizing obsidian and coding things just so things work in the way I wanted. What's even worse is when plugins all of a sudden don't work with the latest version, and now you have to go through the hassle of raising an Issue on their github repo and then waiting for when that resolves itself, or worse, it's been dropped by the dev and now you have to fork it and make updates yourself. Ii might switch honestly but I already have so much in Obsidian that it's hard to switch. That free sync feature is golden though. My current workaround for it in Obsidian is to regularly upload my vault to a private github repo, use someone else's program that converts it to regular markdown, and then build a static site using Hugo, encrypt the pages with staticrypt, and finally upload it Netlify
I recently just set up obsidian to sync to my Nextcloud instance with the remotely save plugin for free. I was having so many issues trying to sync between devices with a GitHub repo I was going insane.
Dude, as someone who's just starting to use obsidian and finds it a very frustrating experience... If you don't want to look like an absolute shill, next time try writing the intro and the video to not sound like the worlds most obvious paid advert.
Everyone is not leaving Obsidian.
You can't deny that Capacities is doing some good progress where Obsidian lacks.

is this 'everyone' in the room with us right now?
Ye...,yess?

Welcome I guess.

Happy to hear that!
Thinly veiled, AI slop ad. Skip this and keep obsidian.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.

... who are these people? Are we talking 5, or 50 000?
... where are you getting these numbers?

You can not compare this shit, Obsidian will always be better cause its stored as md files
Make sense!
Capacities = Cost money
Obsidian = Free
Capacities = Easy to get into.
Obsidian = can be complex for some.
not helpful. this video is an advertisement
what obsidian template is that at :50?
Although *everyone* seems to be peeved about the video title, it was still a nice comparison. Thanks 👍
Welcome!

Oranges to apples. Two very different applications. A more applicable comparison would be Notion VS. Capacities

Amazingly put!
Why does "compacities" which isn't even linked in the description, look like Notion? I'll stick with Obsidian.
Whatever floats your boat!
What a bad advertisement for Capacities.
This isn't an advertisement.
and obsidian has no presettings or something?

No we are are not. Capacity sucks 😮😅
Really? To my uncultured eye it looks like a rebranded Notify, super happy with obsidian, Oh and I control my files!
what a stupid title
Everyone dislikes this video.
Not everyone.
Clickbait title and AI Voice made me Disliked the video.. Ur Welcome
