Another thing is that I had found the mod that was supposed to fix the core mechanics of the game. But it doesn't actually do justice on the game itself anyways. You are right, the game needs a complete remake in order to make it better than it is now.
Great review! This game is a great guilty pleasure for me - it’s not great, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t help but enjoy it for what it is. The sniping is incredibly fun and it manages to carry the rest of the game on its back. And I agree, the soundtrack is absolutely bangin’. The loading screens are preposterously long, but jokes on you developers, that just gives me more time to listen to the menu track.
A lot of these criticisms and comparisons to Far Cry can be mitigated by playing on Challenge Mode. You can't see marks on targets unless you're using the drone and you can't run a gun because enemies will kill you in 1 to 2 bullets, making sniping smart a higher necessity. It makes for a better stealth experience then any far cry game IMO. Outside of Far Cry 2, this game provides a better core gameplay experience for me, being stealth fan.
You still can fast travel despite the difficulty stated. And nearly every aspect of the mechanics in the game is somewhat mitigated with the fix, but both are flawed in their own right. The game is clearly giving mixed signals and it isn't completely bad but it isn't that great. It's just that the game needs a complete remake in order to do some justice on the game. It still needs to fix the performance issue that is plaguing both consoles and PC.
I just want to say thank you for making this review. I loved the first game, but really couldnt get into the second, so I was look for a genuine review in 2020 to see what this game is really like. I appreciate the effort you have taken in recording genuine gameplay clips, as well as give a small look at the other systems (such as crafting, driving, and even the story). Ive decided the game isnt for me, even at the low price it is on steam right now (£4.79). Thanks Avocado Diaboli, you earn my sub, thats for sure!
You won't enjoy the game enough if you are not so much into the political and military/tactical world and just looking for a neat, casual, decent sniping video game. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't still a lone-wolf sniper game around in the market containing real-world modern political references, almost milsim-level recon capabilities and a classic workbench for crafting/modifying weapons and gadgets. I have only one serious complaint which is the lengthy load time but that'd be ignorable, considering overall value of the package.
Came from your steam review - Good stuff. I already have the game, and haven't progressed past the first mission. I wasn't in a position to get into a single player game at the time (bought on release), too many multi games that I was doing. But I'm re-downloading the game right now and going to try and grind my way through. I hope it at least provides some entertainment.
Thanks for watching. I think your amount of entertainment you'll get out of it depends on how much you enjoy the typical modern open world formula. If you have a higher tolerance for it than me - I tend to not care for all the collecting and exploring you can do if there isn't a decent incentive for me to do so - it's at the very least competent but not stellar. Otherwise, I'd advise sticking to the critical path, because that's where you'll find more variety overall. It's not a bad game per se, just unfocused in what it wants to achieve and it compromises to obviously follow a trend.
I would Love if U could do a review of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts2 ! In my opinion the weapons feel and sounds much better then the first Contracts and Its more user friendly for new players then the previous game and at the same time focus on long distance sniping. Things that wasn't so good in the last game the devs have improved on in this one. Now the reason I ask U is because I like your reviews !
Great review! Planning on buying it for $7.99 at current sale on PSN. Btw, I don't think there are many tactical/militaristic based stealth games on PS4 even of now. GR:WL, okay! but Breakpoint just kept breaking everybody's heart. Anyhow, good one! 👍
Yeah I'm downloading it right now. For 8 bucks if I don't like it I won't be that upset. Just need something to play until Ghost of Tsushima comes out next week anyway.
Yea the idea of open world on paper is great, however U gotta fill it with something other then just a bunch of forest and trees. And that's my problem I hade with SGW3 it hade way to much dead space which translated to a lot of mist opportunity !
No review should give spoilers to story lines, no matter how old the game is, or how predictable the story line is. Just food for thought, but I do agree with you about the pointless question marks of open worlds
I disagree on the note of spoilers. I usually try to avoid talking about them if they're not the target of a specific criticism. But if a certain plot point or twist is the reason for why I consider a story to be bad, then that necessarily needs to be talked about. And this game's reveal of who the rival sniper is vis-à-vis the rest of the narrative was just too lazy in setup and execution to be effective.
That's your opinion are your entitled to it. This game gets bad reviews but if you take your time to snipe your enemies and go in missions stealth, I think this game is awesome. Absolutely love it. I love slow methodical game play like this 5 stars from me!!
i still play sniper ghost warrior 3 franchise w/ some dabbling into Contracts 1 & 2.. i prefer the mechanics of the sniper ghost warrior 3.. on the flip side i can't take a review seriously w/ someone playing a Handholding Difficulty... you want the real exp.. Challenge Mode.. use your drone to actually find the Side-jobs , Hostages, staches.. if you are already presenting all of these at the beginning of the map where is the immersiveness where u have to find the key locations on the map.. I am constantly driving 250 meters to hope out of the Gravity Defying Buggy to send out my drone in everyone direction to find all the missions.. Job of Challenge most enemies are no tag... so you can actually do your job and watch from a distance to find the patrol patterns instead of the Icon above there head saying this person is moving away from this person..
Very very well put together review. I always look to buy games at least 1+ year after it's release to give the devs enough time to patch out the bugs and make qol improvements. I absolutely love eastern european settings in games and would like to know your thoughts on the actual map and the interesting locations within. Leave aside the story, is the map well put together, from an organic pov? If the actual main areas are nicely put together, I may just give the game a go. I believe the long level loading issue has been resolved in one of the patches. Thanks again for your time reviewing the game. What's your opinion on sgw contacts?
As a person who has played it Dont get it its terrible if you want a game like this get farcry 5 or 6 just dont buy this game its a waste of money and it leaves you feeling bored
If you are looking for realistic sniping mechanics, this game is one of the best. Of course when playing without aim assistance, otherwise it's just another shoother. And stop comparing everything with Far Cry as if it's some kind of ideal.
You must have misunderstood the points I was making. For one, I clearly lauded the core sniping gameplay at the start of the review. And my comparisons to Far Cry were never in lieu of saying that that series was particularly great. I specifically lamented the fact that this game apes Far Cry's open world design and missions progression instead of focusing on what makes this series unique. So I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to criticize about my review.
Im trying to find a good video about this game that isnt from 4 years ago and how it look like on ps4 because when i play it 2 years ago sucks like hell, longs loadings screens that it look like you can go to the kitchen to make yourself a coffe and come back and the game still was loading!! Or the invisibles enemies that shoot you from far away!! Like what's the point on have some a marksman riffle if you cant see your enemies passing 700 metters because of the bad configured view disstance?? This game sucks on gameplay like it sucks on the main story!! But its 4 dólars on playstore so i wanna know if they improve something??
You had forgotten about them patching out stealth sections from some missions entirely and made other missions way too easy....Which that made it much worse than it should've been. Also, there's bipods are made to make sniping much easier to control than simply without. But the open world is useful for many ways to snipe and other ways to deal with approaching on the target.
Other than tagging enemies through your scope, how does MGSV copy FarCry? MGSV's gameplay is an evolution of MGS4's gameplay, which itself was an evolution of MGS3's, a game which predates FarCry as a series.
@@therealjuralumin3416 So because YT is a d*** and deleted my comment for no reason, I have to rewrite it. The obvious reply to something like this is as follows: If my video is "bad", I wonder who gave you the authority to make a comment about it. After all, the comment and points you try to make are far worse than the video you are referring to. But, facetiousness aside, I don't think anybody has to give me permission to make a video where I express my opinion on something. That's just free speech. Do you honestly believe that everybody who makes a video about something has to get permission to do so on UA-cam? I mean, what else could inform such a view like yours? And the critical difference between my video, where I talk about the shortcomings of the game at some length, and your comment - which lacks any and all punctuation - is that I qualify my statements with examples of where and why the game falters. You're just calling what I say horrible without qualifying that statement. So please elaborate, what exactly did I get wrong?
