chris falcone I would have said that 7 years ago. CI has cool ideas but they underdeliver every time. They need to try a little harder and focus.
Believe it or not but Sniper Ghost Warrior 1 & 2 sold over 5 million combined. For a franchise with such small budgets, that's a huge financial success.
Baffles in silencers do wear out pretty quickly, some get noticably louder after just two shots. Which is why this sort of lone wolf, short range, sniping multiple targets to take an objective kind of deal is basically never done in real life.
Wait a minute, in retrospective isn't it weird that this game is basically a crappy Wildlands knockoff, but it was released just a month after Wildlands? They must have had someone leaking stuff from Ubi, there is no way this is just a coincidence
honestly, if this game didnt have so many bugs and errors when it came out it would have been a great game, i know its not perfect but when the game works well you can really enjoy it, and the option of choosing the way of making the missions is great, think your movements, the weapons. I know it has been done before but sniper ghost warrior 3 does make a good job with it. i got it on discount with all the dlc and when i was not having bugs, i really enjoyed this game.
A big reason why the "Sniper Ghost Warrior" franchise is even still a thing is because there's only one other single player sniping franchise; Sniper Elite, especially for console. There's games with sniping, but there's virtually no sniping games, so it fills a niche large enough for CI to stay financially stable. Contracts 1&2 are much better, although CI dropped assisted stance with Contracts 2 for some reason. I recommend just jumping into Challenge Mode, that's what I did. Stealth Games shine when played on the hardest difficulty and SGW3 is no different.
Tbh, Homefront: The Revolution is not a bad game. But it was hella rushed and the game was basically unplayable on the first trimester. But after the patches, I tottaly recommend it, and on sales, you can find it really cheap
i got into the sniper series because i wanted a game that focused mostly on sniping with the influence of distance and wind. This game appears to get away from that. Despite how pleasing it is to hear the crunch of a bullet going through someones helmet, I still never managed to beat either of the games. Kinda felt like a gimmick that was incredibly pleasing at first but the rest of the game is uninteresting to me personally as someone who just wanted a fun sniper sim. good review, i was curious about this game
I am aware of this game problems, but I still want to play this game, just because I like sniping. I will get it eventually in sale and when they fix some of its technical problems.
Kalsonic, what's this based on? My longest kill is at least above 500m. (Probably from a longer distance, but that's what the achievement is unlocked at, so I forget.)
first of all you can snipe further than 250m, second there is somewhat of a leaning mechanic, third my game loads in 13-20 seconds and you have a pc from stoneage
I think u are a little bit to harsh ! Like I said before, just because this game has some similarity to other games doesn't mean its bad. Sure this game is not perfect and it has some problems, but I took this game for a lot of thing that was done right and I enjoyed this game a lot ! =)
surprised about this, forgot about this series and forgot that a third was released, just bought all 3 for 5 quid and check this out (roughly) SGW 1 = 7 GB SGW 2 = 6 GB SGW 3 = 57 GB all that open world data and for wut for the record i loved the first for nostalgia
Maybe Sniper Ghost Warrior was inspired by Sniper Elite but in my opinion it isn't a poor mans version of it because Sniper Ghost Warrior is just better
It seemed like most people wanted to hate this game before it even released. And it is very true that there are alot of bugs and stupid stuff that should of been fixed, but I'm hoping it will be a lot better in like 2 months. Even if it's not, I've been having a ton of fun playing it, plus it's only $50, and to be honest I don't want to live in a world where Ubisoft or EA Are the only ones trying to make open world games. Thanks for the review G-man!
2:45 let me guess, the baddies shoot down the heli with some rocket, the pilot(s?) die and the brothers crawl out to find the baddies are ready as they'll ever be to deliver the "im a bad guy" speech at gunpoint.
I think that the gaming market is just so stale, and we've done everything to death, it's just... dead... A game like this is the stock, vanilla, generic game I think of when I see a trailer for a new FPS game, anymore. I'm probably jaded in thinking that older games just had the charm and fun, because they were made by people that enjoyed their craft, and did it for fun. Now, it's either corporate crank-out, or hipster horseshit, so, finding and making a good game is near-impossible. Eh, at least tits and violence made it semi-enjoyable for you... can't go wrong with either of those, simply because those are two things have been entertaining, since the dawn of time... Too bad the game didn't have a Ruben sandwich, somewhere, because I'm sure that'd make it at least tolerable.
K12machinima that picture doesnt make you sound biased at all. There are so many great modern games released every year you just have to be bothered to look around a bit. Its like claiming modern music is shit just by judging from mainstream pop songs.
Of course. The only only problem is, finding something unique and fun is just very time-consuming. The general formula for a game now is just so cookie-cutter and generic, you're either going to get a game that's got forced RPG-like mechanics, open world, proceduraly generated, early-access, zombie survival, 8bit, or the movie shooter. Not saying these games are bad, just stale, and it's hard to find a good game when they all seem the same; these games appeal to people, just like everything that is a product, and thus, they need to be sold. Bias, maybe, but my favorite games (as of now) are mainly pioneers of their genre. NetHack, Doom, Diablo 2, Daggerfall, Dark Souls 1, Mortal Kombat (any of them), and tons of others. These games were innovative and experimental for their time, and prove the test of time, and their "clones" (rouge-likes, Hexen, Path of Exile) tread similar ground, but are distinct enough to be different than their source material, and still hold on their own. It's like having a beautiful sandwich from a unique diner, and then trying to make it at home: you've been so spoiled by the source, and nothing will seem to satisfy quite like the original. In terms of music, I'd say it's easy to judge mainstream music in the same way, or anything for that matter. As a musician, myself, making something new and interesting is very difficult, especially because the sound of music may be ever-changing, but you're always going to sound like something, or what you started as. Mainstream music, itself, isn't bad, it's the fans that make it bad, and the "bad" reputation some bands draw to themselves; society and the softening of our culture is also what made mainstream music garbage, with bands afraid to embrace something experimental and unique, or break away from the same, sterile, boring safe-zone of standing on stage and not moving or saying anything, for fear of triggering all the social justice warriors and fem-nazis, because they said "bitch" in their new single. We need a game that's good. We need our Dooms. We need our Far Cries. We need our Call of Duties. We need our Minecrafts. We need our Gears of Wars. We need our Dark Souls. We need our Half-Lives. We need to set the bar: not hang onto the bar, just because it works.
And then we see people making the nostalgia argument for older games like Doom despite the fact that argument is silly and invalid since Doom is still played to death today with perhaps the healthiest modding scene of all time after two decades and is just glorious good fun. Its definitely not nostalgia when the vanilla game alone destroys the vast majority of modern games today.
This may be weird to say but I also think price has a large part to do with the liking and disliking of games now more than ever. If this game was $15 or $20 I don't think people would hate on it as much - and that point of view is validated by GGgman saying the 75% off at the end of the vid a well. But if you charge $50-$60 your game better be the next coming of Jesus or people will be negative on it. What I am saying is that game companies can totally make games like this, I don't mind them and can get some enjoyment out of them, but they better be priced accordingly.
It's the polish, the soul, the fun, and the simplicity of Doom that makes it so great, as well as how it integrates new enemies and concepts almost each level, both in Doom 1 and 2.
I really enjoyed this game and I give it a 7 out of 10. It does feel a bit rough around the edges and the voice acting is a bit off but overall, it's a decent game and if you're itching for a sniper game, this is a good time.
Gonna be honest picked up the ultimate edition for 15$ and I am very happy with my purchase haven’t ran into any bugs or anything and the game has ran smooth only annoying thing is when I first boot the game up it loads like I’m playing gta 5 but when I start playing I’m good to go
"The most widely accepted origin holds that Reuben Kulakofsky, a Jewish Lithuanian-born grocer residing in Omaha, Nebraska, was the inventor, perhaps as part of a group effort by members of Kulakofsky's weekly poker game held in the Blackstone Hotel from around 1920 through 1935. The participants, who nicknamed themselves "the committee", included the hotel's owner, Charles Schimmel. The sandwich first gained local fame when Schimmel put it on the Blackstone's lunch menu, and its fame spread when a former employee of the hotel won a national contest with the recipe.[2] In Omaha, March 14 was proclaimed as Reuben Sandwich Day.[3]" You introduced me to the glory that is a Reuben sandwich. By Tom Phillips Published 25/04/2017 Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 launches today - but without its planned multiplayer portion. Developer CI Games has previously spoken about the game's multiplayer - several maps for it are included in the game's season pass. But play the game today and you'll find it's not included. Instead, multiplayer modes will be released via an update at some point in the future.
5:04 I get to *choose* to specialize as a Sniper. In a game called Sniper. I get the idea, customization is great and all that, but that feels so dissonant and wrong. It's like have a skill tree for sneaking in Thief.
there is no original game if we go by this logic... obviously what you may think might have be done before in any other game. I haven't played sniper ghost warrior 3 yet...but I hate it when people talk about a game without any original bone in its body...please tell me any game in the past 5-8 years...which had done something original and big...because I think there is no such game...atleast recently
I don't really understand why some people are reporting long loading times. I'm playing on an hdd, and the load times aren't too bad. (except for the first one when you leave the main menu). Sppeaking of the multiplayer, iirc they've confirmed it's coming, but they decided to put it off to fix the bugs in the game. Time will tell if anyone is still playing when it releases.
Have you considered reviewing the Sniper Elite series? It started out a little rough but the last couple installments have been quite well-polished and beefy.
dude i love watching your reviews for new games! i usually go off your reviews rather than ign or gamespot. i mean i never planned on buying this game, but i like watching the reviews for games i dont even plan on getting. and watching your review compared to ign is like night and day. same with outlast 2, ign gave that an 8.5! keep up the good work man!
Games like this are really more meant for fans of the sniper shooter subgenre, that really doesn't have many games in it. I've played all 3 games in the series, and Sniper Elite V2 & 3, and I find this one the best in the series and a lot more enjoyable due to the fact that it's open world. The "Brezatelya" (real name VSS Vintorez) & "Vikop" (real name VSSK Vychlop), both hidden snipers, are integrally suppressed and thus the suppressors won't break. The suppressor damage mechanic is actually quite realistic, because the rubber baffles(what reduce the noise of the gunshot) degrade to the point they no longer function in the span of a dozen or so shots. You may not like the UI, but the menus are reminiscent of steamlined UI mods for Bethesda games, like SkyUI and DarNified UI. Really, the only parts of this review I agree with are enjoying the soundtrack and hating the load times.
Figures. It was the same in Sniper Ghost Warrior 1: i had to play on hard just so sniping would require some skill, and the game was completely broken on hard.
Great review! For anyone debating on buying feel free to read this; Stealth feels great, you can just snipe everyone quickly and raise attention or wait for patterns and pick them off without raising a single bit of attention. Sniping is fun imo, once you turn off the gay bullet cam anyways. Watching peoples limbs and heads explode with the 50 cal rifle is a blast. Once you crank the difficulty up to realistic the game becomes an entirely new beast. Stealth is a must and going loud is certain death. Crafting & sleeping is kinda a must on this difficulty. I do agree that the character models are poor, but it didn't tarnish the game in any way for me. This game just felt refreshing compared to Far Cry etc I wish I knew why... The most wanted list is also pretty fun, my only gripe really was the old sniper collectibles you find, you can't use any of them ( well from the ones I've found ). The voice acting is the only cringe bit for me, Simms voice sounds a bit to deliberate and the fact you have two big breasted broads just helping you, I was waiting for some prolific sex scene. The ending is where I felt most stung, the missions before it were nicely varied and actually pretty fun, disguising yourself etc then bam end hits. I guess if you're interested in buying it then - If you've played SGW 1 & 2 and know how they play and feel, go for it. Chances are you'll enjoy it ( like me ) If you've never played the previous 2 then either wait for the price to tank or the patches to go live. Upon purchase it feels like Homefront:Revolution I enjoyed that game a lot personally but I still kinda look at my wallet and go 'I probably should of waited'. Also for those debating to get it on PC or console, the graphic difference unfortunately isn't that great, however. The framerate difference is extremely nice. I am running it on i5 7400 & r9 3804gb. I haven't noticed many dips below the 60 mark so far :)
The thing that shits me off the most is that I got my review code a week after release, even after specifically requesting it over a week before release... now I played the BETA and if I still have no knife or can't break glass with a fucking bullet I think i'll give this horse shit a miss. Props for playing it for as long as you did...
Looks identical to Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 but with slightly better visuals in the far distant background. I picked up SGW2 for $2.00 in December of 2016 and I plan to do the same when SGW3 hits the same price in a sale. So hopefully in January 2021 it'll still be a decent game to buy instead of Sniper Ghost Warrior 4 or Sniper Elite 5.
Why don't you try UTOPIA CITY ? a cyber-punk, Sci-fy action, (open world perhaps) shooter ? I am really interested what your thoughts on this game are @Gggmanlives

The sandwich first gained local fame when Schimmel put it on the Blackstone's lunch menu, and its fame spread when a former employee of the hotel won a national contest with the recipe.[2] In Omaha, March 14 was proclaimed as Reuben Sandwich Day.[3]"
You introduced me to the glory that is a Reuben sandwich.
Thank You
Our lord, Gggmanlives, has truly blessed us a new video. Praise the Sonny Jim!
Clearing outposts? Last time I tried that, the enemies respawned upon returning there 10 minutes later. Even that didn't work for me.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 launches today - but without its planned multiplayer portion.
Developer CI Games has previously spoken about the game's multiplayer - several maps for it are included in the game's season pass. But play the game today and you'll find it's not included.
Instead, multiplayer modes will be released via an update at some point in the future.
I love how the bullets are still in their casings when they are fired. That's a glorious oversight.
jesus christ, this review is already a fooken month pld already, time flies really fast
5:04 I get to *choose* to specialize as a Sniper. In a game called Sniper. I get the idea, customization is great and all that, but that feels so dissonant and wrong. It's like have a skill tree for sneaking in Thief.
Ty for sharing :)
1:42 CITY WOK
Sniper Elite review when my sonny lord!?
Never.
Gggmanlives why?
Immense Data stale as well
Why :(
He doesn't review third person shooters
"The truth is in the pudding"? are you fucking kidding me
No. No I'm not.
You don't believe in pudding.
there is no original game if we go by this logic... obviously what you may think might have be done before in any other game. I haven't played sniper ghost warrior 3 yet...but I hate it when people talk about a game without any original bone in its body...please tell me any game in the past 5-8 years...which had done something original and big...because I think there is no such game...atleast recently
like someone else said on a comment a week, "This game is this year's homefront"..... so true!
I'll tell you playing this why Sonny Jim for our amusement
Loved this game when it came out, remembered following it before it even came out
Cool you killed Agent 47 at 1:38.
Thanks for the heads up, saves me some money. Love your stuff!
I love how UA-cam picks up these kind of game sequels as the previous game in the series because they are so similar.
I was thinking of buying this since I love sniping and it was on a massive sale. But thanks to this complete lad. I saved myself from that mistake
Which would you say is better, this or Homefront 2?
Also will you Review Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter when it gets Released on Steam or GOG?
CyborgParrot both are equal.
Probably Homefront 2 if I had to pick one.
Oh man, that is the most fucking cliché-ish title for a video game xD
Agreed!
love your videos!
yeah thats me. one of my head shots
Fun Fact: When CI Games were under the name Lemon Interactive in 2003, they developed Codename Nina, a true gem
was it based "point of no return""la femme Nikita" movies.
Lemon interactive indeed cuz that's what they make lemons
Thank you sir for the review
I really hope we can get a better game with better customisation and maybe even just a linear story line.
Omfg the sniper shoots the casing and the bullet this trigger me so much
Have you considered reviewing the Sniper Elite series? It started out a little rough but the last couple installments have been quite well-polished and beefy.
dude i love watching your reviews for new games! i usually go off your reviews rather than ign or gamespot. i mean i never planned on buying this game, but i like watching the reviews for games i dont even plan on getting. and watching your review compared to ign is like night and day. same with outlast 2, ign gave that an 8.5! keep up the good work man!
gggmanlives is gearing up for Strafe!!
Personally I actually like the game but that’s my preference you’re allowed an opinion.
Three years later I got this for 3 dollars. Isn't that something lol
Didn't expect anything of this game and it managed to disappoint
Why that bald guy with fur coat jacket in 4:15 looks like Psycho from Crysis3?
Hey, they finally got that Multiplayer mode added. Game of the year.
Hey, even though they're not FPS games, you should totally review the Sniper Elite series.
ive only just started the video but please tell me you mention the atrocious bullet model. It still has the fucking shell on it
Man ths is like the 7th video of his that i hear him mentioning Ruben Sandwiches, not gonna lie, im gonna make one rn
Pick it up on steam summer sale and despite its flaws, its pretty good game for its price.
5:46 you totally missed but the game is like ooh no he hit him right between the eyes
5:44
LOL I thought this was the Sniper Elite series!
No those games are actually good. haha
Skullkid Majora lol, that's what I thought!
Gman, do you know if there is an option to turn off the bullet drop indicator? That orange dot.
Ghost81 there isn't. The game lacks options. But u can remove it by playing on highest difficulty. It also removes tagging with drones.
Figures. It was the same in Sniper Ghost Warrior 1: i had to play on hard just so sniping would require some skill, and the game was completely broken on hard.
Great review! For anyone debating on buying feel free to read this;
Stealth feels great, you can just snipe everyone quickly and raise attention or wait for patterns and pick them off without raising a single bit of attention.
3:26 Good God, Kevin Spacey stay off the coke.
An honest review, thanks!
3:58: Why was I expecting her to say "Hammer time!" there? O.o
The thing that shits me off the most is that I got my review code a week after release, even after specifically requesting it over a week before release... now I played the BETA and if I still have no knife or can't break glass with a fucking bullet I think i'll give this horse shit a miss. Props for playing it for as long as you did...
Please do Quake Arcane Dimensions sometime in your Mod Corner series.
Love this review, thank you. Too many games nowadays are same old same old.
I eat my rubens watching your vids now
Yeah you do.
Why don't you try UTOPIA CITY ? a cyber-punk, Sci-fy action, (open world perhaps) shooter ? I am really interested what your thoughts on this game are @Gggmanlives
I love games that try to be realistic with firearms. Bullet drop, stoppages, etc
