Great writers deserve to be paid, no matter their status. Unfortunately many of them are promoted beyond their skill level and we're left with subpar written shows. That happens a lot. The Succession writers though? They deserve to be paid big time. Very well written show. The She-Hulk writers though? Who gives a toss.
No ai machine will ever match what Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky or in this case, Armstrong have written. Why? It takes a HUMAN being to understand what makes another HUMAN being act a certain way, but Hollywood producers are too ignorant to understand that.
I hope Sarah Snook gets more incredible roles in the future. Her performance as Shiv is some of the best I've seen in TV. Can't get enough of Sarah alright. Succession was a perfect international breakthrough for a great future career of her
If you haven't, you should check out Predestination. It's a kinda headfuck time travel film starring Sarah Snook and Ethan Hawke. Really put Snook on the radar for me.
Same. I don't know why, I didn't even like the last season that much...but somehow I guess I am scared/sad to potentially not see such a quality performance again in the near future...🥲
It took me a whole day to recover from the violent, dark and twisted hug between Kendall and Roman. Harrowing to watch. Deeply complex and so much pain.
The kitchen scene in the finale is like my favourite scene in the entire series. It was so warm, sweet and funny….. And they follow that up with the most brutal depressing ending they’ve ever done where all the characters you like have their lives destroyed forever…… even if they’re richer.

This was of course all provoked by the amazing writing, acting and even sound produced in this show.
there's a rly good video called Why people compare succession to shakespeare (from the channel Overthinking it) that goes into this topic rly well, one of the only succession video essays i would highly recommend in the sea of average ones
It really shows the bare subject beneath their symbolic status. The tension between those two domains of character consciousness is the driving force of the show
This is how I feel exactly. Underneath it all they are still human beings with basic emotional needs that were never met by either of their parents. They longed for it but also avoided it.
What I learned from this show was how our relationship with humans shape our life. The words you put out, the timing you make for your actions, the information you got about small details, the courage and daring you perform, can all bring you top or send you down. Honestly, I have ignored these nuances in my life:)
I think it also shows the void of achievement for those born already at the finish line. To set goals, to really have to struggle to achieve them, to feel the absoluteness of the word “no”, to pick yourself up again, to set internal values and stick to them, to suffer, to know true success by your own merit - these are life lessons you miss when you are already there.
The singing scene in the last episode was so powerful and intelligently done. Their first opportunity to grieve as a family over an old video that every family may have of their lost love ones
Right now, I would say second only to "The Sopranos" but I would say "Succession" had even more brilliant dialogue. The ensemble casts of both are pretty equal, generally, but there is no actor equal to Gandolfini.
Idk this whole thing of “very powerful psycho isolated man finding his one true constant friendly presence in his strong stoic bodyguard” is so cliche, for once it reminded me a lot of Frank Underwood and Meechum from house of cards and I know there are more examples
@hypernewlapse i think there was another layer to it as well though. He's not really bonding with colin like a real friend, more just like he enjoys the idea of it. You can tell because as soon as colin tries to say something personal Logan shuts it down and goes on a rant.
Cox, Ruck, Strong, Culkin, Snook, and Macfadyen were excellent but don’t forget the supporting cast. J. Cameron Smith, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Dagmara Domińczyk, and Fisher Stevens - all legends and did phenomenal work. Also, thank you to the powers that be who cast the exceptional talents of Hiam Abbass and Arian Moayed. Love them both and it is fantastic to see Middle East actors onscreen. Wonderful writing, direction, everything. Mourning the end of the series but thankful for the creativity, work, and dedication. Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I hope Jesse Armstrong and co are working on new stuff already. I'll follow these people for the rest of their careers. Intelligent writing, intelligent actors, and intelligent characters. Incredible work.
The fact that Kiern, Sara and Jeremy didn't know about that scene with the Logan video is just incredible... the way they respond and improvise and completely LIVE those lives and characters... the entire cast.. just phenomenal
Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Matthew MacFayden all deserve an Emmy this season! I hope Succession will make history by winning for Best Writing and Best Drama series again.
At first I felt let down by the finale until I processed both the emotion and the actual material’s merit and realized: I finally experienced a great finale and I’m just feeling loss. I honestly learned a lot about myself and my marriage and relationships watching this show. We all have the capacity for lesser, weak, harmful emotions and allowing life to not highlight our best qualities: it’s just about recognition, growing and evolving past cyclical trauma, every generation receives some, every generation dishes some out.
I absolutely love every actor involved in this. What an amazing cast, and amazing writing. So grateful for Jesse to have the courage to end the show now instead of dragging a mediocre cash cow. Now it has become a masterpiece that will live on our hearts forever. #gerriwins
These ppl should feel proud of themselves. They did an amazing job and they were part of one of the best show of the last years. This story was perfection. 👏👏
It's sad but amazing that the show ended when it did. They could go out on a high. A lot of other shows might have tried to keep going and finally go out with a whimper, but giving us proper closure while gut wrenching is a beautiful thing.
First of all, thank you HBO for saying yes to Succession. And thank you to every single person, from Jesse Armstrong onwards, that was responsible for putting this show together over its past four seasons. There are simply not enough hats to take off to all of you guys for all your incredible work. You guys have made history with this show and have crafted something that will remain in our minds and hearts for several years to come. All the best in all your future endeavors and future projects👑 Now, BURNING QUESTION TO HBO:🔥 Succession proved to be a wothy successor of Game of Thrones. Now that it has come to an end, of all those remaining, which HBO show will be the successor of Succession in terms of TV dominance?
So so good. Such a well written , interesting, funny programme. So well casted as well. Hope they all go onto bigger and better things. Also pray to god we get more series of this quality . Amazon and Netflix take note .
I got Godfather vibes throughout this whole series, but in a new and refreshing way. Beautiful moments and super cringe moments with these episodes to treasure for a long time. Truly artistic masterpiece.
I think the episode where Logan died is one of the best in TV that I’ve seen at least. The acting was amazing from the kids, the camerawork & the directing was really incredible & it did make you guess if Logan was actually dead or pulling a prank
The siblings watching Logan happy at a dinner with Connor and others was so heartbreaking. I think it was also Jeremy, Sarah and Kieran's first time seeing the video on-set.
Show finale was at first hard to swallow everything at the end with the siblings but in the end wow what a fantastic story well written and ended. Everything about this show shows you the flaws in our constant need and want for our own gain and not looking out for others. Sad this ended but what a beautiful series to go back and re watch and enjoy over and over
It was an honor to watch and experience this show, to follow the ever evolving story, to love, hate and relate to the characters portrayed by the incredible cast and to relish in the visual delights of the sets and wardrobe. Everything was sheer perfection. It was truly great television but it went beyond that. It was a highly intellectual and deeply emotional experience that moved us all who watched and for that I say thank you. Bravo!
I'll remember the scene with Tom and Shiv in the car at the end forever. How they cannot follow-up on this power couple is insane. I bet we are NOT seeing the last of them.
Succession is amazing, but I am impressed with Jeremy. Kendall is a character we all should hope for lose, but after the final episode what more I see are people sad or angry because he lost. This is the magnitude of his work. PHENOMENAL👏👏👏

Fantastic ensemble cast and a beautifully put together show in every way. I've been a fan of Jesse Armstrong's writing since the early 2000s when he used to write for Charlie Brooker's old website and then all the way through Peep Show, it's been great to follow his success and development as a writer.
Au revoir you brilliantly talented group of people! 👏The recent years have been dark for a lot of us and your superb acting, writing, directing, musical scores, etc., have given us all something to look forward to ❤ Up there with the greats as a show for the ages 🎉 Take a bow 🙌 Only four seasons, wish we’d had ten, but a perfect four 🎹 💎 HBO…big shoes!!!
The show is so damn good and I was so involved in it, I was surprised to see Brian Cox in this invterview. I legitimately thought he was Logan Roy and had passed.

Overall amazing cast but Matthew Macfadyen really stood out to me. His performance throughout the series really was tremendous. Some of the scenes with Shiv and Tom cut so deep.
By far the best dramatic series in a loonnngg time - I will love forever. Outstanding writing and deep insight into the pathos of the monied folk. I wish all the cast, crew, writers, behind the scenes essential folks - the very best future. Superb drama by all measures.
This was a fantastic show -- brilliantly written, perfectly cast and fantastic music! While I will miss the show, I think it ended it perfectly. Bravo!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The Succession shows us how important great writing is. That's why writers MUST be heard and paid.
It all starts with the writing.
Writers r crucial to any projects never rlly understood y they were not given enough credit
