The fact that half the stuff Habie’s marveling at for the first time in this video (volcanoes, ewok huts, eye-worm-creatures, etc) is stuff that’s actually been in the game for years is truly a testament to the scale of the NMS universe.
I don't wanna call you a liar but I've played this game for a long time and I stopped seeing new things after around the 5th hour of gameplay, and I started slow. every time a new update hits, I jump back on to see all the new stuff, and I'm met with more of the same sort. the latest big update is a great example. I think it changed some things, but I can't really tell, because at this point everything looks the same. all the structures look the same, all the planets look the same, it may as well all be called the same. there's nothing about this game that feels unique or refreshing, and the visual aesthetic is dull and uninspired. robots just look like junky robots. space stations just look like garages with LED strip lights. any base you build looks like any other base you'll see. the difference between 2 planets often just comes down to color filter. some space ships admittedly look quite cool, but most of them are absurdly ugly. I want to like this game, I've tried and continue to try, I've played since I believe the 2nd update ever and it still looks and plays the same as back then, maybe they've added a flood light or changed the space stations, but they don't really feel any better. it's like re-arranging your room and calling it a new home.
The other day I was babysitting a kid over at my house, and i thought, what the hell, I'll throw him in no man's sky vr. He spent 2 hours playing with the terrain manipulator, and i think i broke his brain.

I remember when I first hopped into NMS in my VR headset. I was so afraid of leaving the planet lol. When I finally did I wussed out and turned off the game. I have a fear of empty spaces, and Space is, well...a very large empty space. Even with how colorful this particular version of Space is, the sheer *distance* between myself and any other object felt REAL in VR and I just could not handle it. But then I gave it another shot, fought my fears, and kept playing...was an absolutely amazing experience. I can not play NMS without VR. It just isn't the same.
I didn't get into NMS until like, right after the worlds update, and I was wondering what someone's reaction would be to all the new stuff because I never really got to see the gradual progress of the updates and stuff, so this was really fun to watch! Thanks habie :)
Habie never forgets to upload on the most random times to force me to observe his juicy content (Update I just realized he uploads every Saturday at 12pm eastern)
Habie, you gotta try out Contractors Clone Wars Mod again, you haven’t played it in so long that they’ve added, removed, and added more content to it. You missed out on the Droidekas and the Clone Marines, but now we’ve got starfighters with 1st person cockpits and they’re really fun
No Man's Sky is such a great story of redemption. Initial released version was terrible and look at what it has become. It's easy to get lost for hours in VR in this game, I've done it several times.
No Man's Sky VR is literally the best VR game there is in my opinion. Nothing compares. You are literally a Traveller. You get to go wherever you want and be immersed in it. The only thing that I wish they could fix is collision and add haptics for when you touch something with your hands instead of your hands going straight through it. That would make it perfect in my opinion. I'm running it on a 6750xt on High settings with some set to Enhanced and Planetary detail set to Standard. My hope is to upgrade my PC to something with a 4080 or 4090 in it because I hate this AMD card, so I can experience it in VR with Ultra settings. This game is so good in VR that I literally can't play it flatscreen. It's a completely different game even though it's the same game, if that makes any sense. I'm using a Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop and a ROG Wifi 6E gaming router, and it's smoother than using the Meta link cable. I'm absolutely addicted to it in VR and I can't wait for the next four Worlds updates. I am also hoping that they implement VR in Light No Fire. I bought pre-ordered No Man's Sky when it went live for Pre-Orders and I've stuck with it since release. Sean and his team deserve nothing but praise for what they've done. Sony screwed them on release by making them release it too soon, and Hello Games got a massive amount of hate. But instead of letting that deter them, they did a remarkable thing that most game developers never do. They cared about their fans and their project. Sean and his team made a dream a reality. What person on this planet never had the dream of being able to fly into space and explore a countless number of worlds and galaxies? This game is literally my childhood dream. The only thing that is disappointing to me is that I have to leave it and return this this reality when I'm done playing.
NMS is by far my favorite game of all time. I love how Hello Games turned it around. I'm currently taking a break from building an empire (renaming tons of adjacent systems) and building a cabin on a floating island with a waterfall, on a paradise planet that looks straight up like Pandora.
The engoodening of No Mans Sky has been incredible to participate in. Every few months I drop in and just like you, have my mind completely blown. They just KEEP COOKING. It's insane. They could have stopped updating this game literally YEARS ago and been completely justified in doing so, but they just. won't. stop.
Its absolutely true that if you haven't actually experienced VR, watching someone's VR video looks pretty bad. You catch so many details you wouldn't have ever noticed before and if you have a good headset, the game actually looks way better. If you like VR in space, i highly recommend Elite Dangerous in VR. It was hard for me to take that headset off for months lol
Habie, I just convinced my bro (my Cory) to hop on this game with me and relearn everything. I haven’t played since the 5th update (NEXT I think ?) and bro has already grinded 5x the amount of units I have… and you have now dropped this to validate me proving that this game is great. Thank you.
Frankly I’d like to see a comparison video between two VR games - Raw Data and Sairento VR. Both great games that are simultaneously very similar and very different. Theyre both games about using guns and katanas to fight baddies in a cyberpunk dystopia. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Raw Data is much more graphically pleasing, polished and is much more structured with characters and play styles to choose from. Sairento is less polished, but is much more freeform and has abilities that make you feel like you’re a Matrix character (wall-running, slow-mo, being able to slice bullets in half, etc)
That video being like 5 days after I was born made me feel old, but appreciative of the tech I'm getting to experience thru my life. Crazy how time flies lol
Kinda blows my mind that I’ve put 60 hours into this game and still haven’t seen some of the stuff in this video, nor am I anywhere near maxing out my freighter, starship or anything else. Kinda puts into perspective just how much has been added. So excited to see what future content brings
8:09 That hut is so damn cool oh my god ... I need to start playing this again. I'm on and off right now o PSVR2 as well, but I need to actually get a base built. That's one aspect I've ever really explored. That's so awesome
Now we just need a VR update where we can interact with objects with our hands, repairing items involves putting parts together, opening crates involves chipping away rusted metal and actually opening them, and getting into spaceships / exocrafts involves climbing up into them using your hands. Features like this would up the immersion by a lot and move No Mans Sky up into one of the best VR games. Right now the VR interactivity is the only thing holding it back in my book.

I genuinely can not believe it's been 3 entire years since I started watching this channel. I also can't believe It'saHOBBIT and SpasticNinja are still going.
I agree that it is unrecognizable. After playing this Worlds update with my Pimax Crystal Light I honestly felt like they are really on to something here. If the multiplayer gets some sort of update with more stuff to do together then this beats any other social experience in VR for me. I would rather be in this universe with friends than be in Meta Horizons or Rec Room or any of that other BS.
The most amazing VR experiences I have to date are Assetto Corsa, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and No Man's Sky. I like a lot of VR games but I always come back to those 3.
I felt like crying the first time I played this in VR, it was so pretty. The controls really frustrated me though- I have such trouble navigating the galaxy map, I just pulse around using a controller and switch back to the VR controllers when I'm in a system I want. I LOVE the update!
No Man’s Sky is the only game I would get off work and play for hours and hours while standing! I slaved at work and then suddenly felt so enticed with the immersion that my energy would renew and I have waaay too much fun playing either with friends or by myself.
its quite interesting that the imagination of VR is like so insane and is always mentioned as a thing we all just gonna have a headset on us at all times, but now in 2024 with all the past VR games and headsets it has really shown that VR wont ever actually be the big mainstream thing that it was thought to be, because the laws of physics will just never get screens to be on the real world milliseconds response to our brains, only thing that could get VR to be like how its in sci-fi is to have a gigantic innovation on how screens work and how we visualize trough tech.

I genuinely can not believe it's been 3 entire years since I started watching this channel. I also can't believe It'saHOBBIT and SpasticNinja are still going.
Day 3 of saying hello to habie till habie says hello back
I agree that it is unrecognizable.
You know. I had a feeling you were going to post about this game again.
The only problem I have is with Dsync with frigates showing for friends.
Man, your videos are just so consistently entertaining
Hi. Waiting for this video is the reason I stayed alive this week. Looking forward to the next. Thank you
The most amazing VR experiences I have to date are Assetto Corsa, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and No Man's Sky. I like a lot of VR games but I always come back to those 3.
I enjoyed trying the game in vr, but controlling the ship was painful. I swapped to only using vr if I was doing base work.
I love having dogfights in space. Reminds me of playing Colony Wars on PS1 as a kid.
Colony Wars was awesome!!
I felt like crying the first time I played this in VR, it was so pretty. The controls really frustrated me though- I have such trouble navigating the galaxy map, I just pulse around using a controller and switch back to the VR controllers when I'm in a system I want.
I LOVE the update!
The entire intro was gold!
Love your work Habie!
Why does 0:56 work so perfectly?
All of this cool stuff, and this is only part 1 of the worlds update, part 2 is coming out soon.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Habie is a MASTERFUL communicator?
What’s the documentary with computer graphics that he used in the beginning? Like at 0:37
No Man’s Sky is the only game I would get off work and play for hours and hours while standing! I slaved at work and then suddenly felt so enticed with the immersion that my energy would renew and I have waaay too much fun playing either with friends or by myself.
I only don’t get on it anymore because one of my friends stole that ps and vr unit
its quite interesting that the imagination of VR is like so insane and is always mentioned as a thing we all just gonna have a headset on us at all times, but now in 2024 with all the past VR games and headsets it has really shown that VR wont ever actually be the big mainstream thing that it was thought to be, because the laws of physics will just never get screens to be on the real world milliseconds response to our brains, only thing that could get VR to be like how its in sci-fi is to have a gigantic innovation on how screens work and how we visualize trough tech.
I REMEMBER WHEN NO MANS SKY RELEASED, A COUPLE YEARS LATER I CAME BACK TO IT AND I WAS SO SHOCKED TO SEE HOW GOOD IT WAS
WHY ARE WE YELLING
@@suctionbucket5-747 WHY DID YOU START YELLING TOO!?
habie you should play through outer wilds with the VR mod. the space physics are terrifying and the planets are super cool... and like, the mystery is sick as hell. it's a mystery solving game set in space, in a time loop.
