Just figured it out.
For anyone who is watching this and your mk7 has push start ignition: 1. With your foot off the brake pedal push the start engine button. This will put the car in on. 2. Push the start button again to turn it off 3. Hit the wiper blade stalk on the steering column down once. And the wipers will go into park position.
Make sure to have your foot off the brake pedal. Otherwise you will start the car
Don't you mean foot off the clutch otherwise you will start the car? :D

i've been puzzled about how to replace the wipers for awhile... or how to make them stick up in case it's snowing so they dont' freeze to the windshield... finally i have my answers! VW is fancy as heck lol

I have 2017 gti and it my 1st volkswagen(always had japanese cars)..Everyone told me they are good cars but hard to regularly maintain.Gotta say ,so far basic maintenance on this car about the the or even easier than my acura rsx or cl. Im sure some things will be harder but so far pretty similar

Before I bought my golf r last year, watched few video reviews and few complain how almost impossible to change them without opening the hood lol
I have a manual '15 and have noticed that when I put it in first or reverse and start to pull away, the wipers (already down) move even further down (slightly but audible). Has anyone else noticed this? And does it serve a purpose?

This is the one thing I HATE about VW cars. You cannot buy wiper blades for them from the store. You have to waste extra money because VW uses a clip system that is totally proprietary. There is NOTHING that works with their fucked up connector other than an overpriced VW "special" wiper blade. Even the rear wiper cannot be replaced with an aftermarket brand. I searched several stores and couldn't find any that have them.
These videos help, trust me. Its little things but make a huge difference.
What do you guys pay for the front wipers? I have the Bosch 650mm/450mm set and paid 34 Euros (like 40 dollars.... i think?)

Imagine just being able to lift the wiper arms up without having to put in a secret password.
Some advice: you may want to wear mechanix or other thick gloves. Gouged out some flesh today while pulling the old wipers off, was a bloody mess. There was a secondary click after pressing the release button that held the wipers in place on the bracket, which required a bit of effort to pull off. If you pull the old wipers off by the hinge area, you'll risk contact with the metal brackets.
Happened to me to first time changing the wipers. I've got a Mk7.5 GTI and I swear the windshield wipers arms are warped, I've never struggled so hard installing damn wipers lol. The maddening part is I start gentle... end up really trying to force the fucker in there... next thing I know when I'm out of will the things slide right in. Nothing has been learned

the 1 on the rear window is just - pull it back to make it stick out xD nothing fancy needed there, the replacement is the same little quick connect tab.

i remember someone was trying to change the wiper blades on mk5 when the arm was at the normal position and i said there's an easier way where the wiper comes up :D

Who changes blades when you can change the rubbers at 1/4 or less, of the cost?!!
BTW, I don't advise anyone to let the metal wiper arm rest on the windscreen while you're changing blades. It very often leaves a mark.
What mark are you talking about? There will be few atoms scratch if you do that gently.

Driver, passenger and rear wiper blades are all sold seperately.

with limited testing on these blades I have not seen chatter

I just did this myself. You just tilt the blade away from the wiper. It just comes off easily. In this video its done wrong
I get some dragging or chatter on my drivers side wiper sometimes and these are new VW wipers. My old pair had the same thing happen but the drivers side one dragged so much it tore off part of the rubber. Seems like a design flaw. And Im driving a mk7 gti.
mentioned below you might consider to clay bar the windshield to remove and material that might be stuck there.
These cars hate Rain-x, mine did the same until I got rid of it with glass polish.
Use Bon-Ami 1885 or something to get rid of it.
if you don't know how to do this you shouldn't own a gti.
I frankly don't agree even a little bit. Everyone's experience varies and all enthusiast start somewhere. This video could be the very first attempt for a new enthusiast working on his or her car. I personally remember a time when I was really proud to have installed an intake on my new MK4 GTI.
