The best intro for the best song of all history of rock n roll with the masters of guitar: Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter and the greats Prakash John on bass and Pennty Whitney Glan on drums.
This is hands down the best live recording of a song ever!!!! Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner were guitar masters. When the boys at Guitar Center are hanging around talking about " tone", this is what they are trying to achieve.
@@KennysClassics You did a great job. I have been telling people about these two guys forever. Ever since I first heard this song, I wanted other people that were into music to know about them.

I wore two vinyl copies of "Rock'n'Roll Animal" out . . mainly listening to this masterpiece. I still listen to this song regularly. Your own guitar work is fabulous. Great touch. However, there is one element of this brilliant intro that should be recognized. The BASS lines provided by PRAKESH JOHN. Prakesh is Canadian and not overly well known but it's impossible to listen to this intro without hearing his searing bass rims. some of rock music's finest. Distinctive. Clean and clear. How I envy those who were at that little NYC theater on that Dec '73 night. They witnessed an extraordinary event. Steve, Dick and Prakesh were so good that Lou Reed felt upstaged and he was . He dumped that band because he knew they would outshine him. You've honored this song well with exceptional guitar skills of your own. it must have been a lot of fun to recreate.
Thank you kiltedwolf2! I am honored by your comments, and I agree with everything you stated about the song and the album. Yes, you are right, Prakesh, deserves a round of applause as well. He was the bass player with the dark bushy mustache as seen in several videos of the band at that time. But, yes, it was fun to recreate this tune into a storytelling video, with the music as close to the original as I could make it. all I can say is I was at the Lou Reed show where this was recorded. I was about 20 and trying with a good measure of success to get a cute foxy thing to come home with me. Point is this was a part of the soundtrack to our lives and we didn't give it a second glance as the musical history it would become. But isn't that true of everything? I drove down to the show in a 4spd RoadRunner that had I kept would have been a good down payment on a house now. We just had no clue.

Thanks for your comments Bernie! Yea, I know I could have just done a video so other musicians or music lovers could just watch me play it. However, from being in many show bands on the road for years when I was younger, I learned that not every one is listening that close to the music and there are those that are looking at the entire presentation visually and audibly. This creates a complete story or concept to invoke even more passion to the viewer. I therefore try to create visual story lines to go along with all of my videos. When Twisted Sister was a bar band, on the precipice of their own becoming, I saw them play Into and Sweet Jane at a club called Hammerheads in West Islip NY around 1978 or so. They nailed it so perfectly it was like a trip back in time. Being a fan of RnR Animal since I was about 13 1974-75, I .never thought I would ever hear anyone play that live, but they blew me away. It was unbelievable.
I too was in to Twisted Sister and saw them a bunch of times during their bar band days in the late 1970s on L.I.( Hammerheads, Speaks, The Mad Hatter) They did a great cover of this song among others ( Diamond Dogs, Jail break, Riot in Cell Block #9, Johnny B. Goode, Tie Your Mother Down, Vicious) Great shows.

Thanks for your comment, Henry! Yea, not too many live, hit tunes, start off with a gang buster live solo section right off the bat, and then go into the first verse and chorus, etc...
I'm 65 years young now, Sweet Jane and Rock And Roll are two my all time favorites. My third favorite guitar rock song is Train Kept a Rolling, which is so good everyone on the planet thinks Aerosmith invented it, even Jeff Beck couldn't believe it when he heard fans calling it an Aerosmith Song. I've been listing to these 3 songs since the 70's And didn't know until 5 years ago Hunter & Wagner did all three. I'm one of their biggest fans now, and I was very disappointed with Rolling Stone Magazine's list of 100 greatest guitarist, as these two were not mentioned but Lou Reed made the list.
Doug, I get it! I am 68 years young, and I agree with your comments. The fact that these two guitar soloists have been pretty much ignored in the classic rock media, is one of the main reasons I did this video, which was to give them the kudos they deserved. The second reason I did this video was, like you, I loved these dueling solos and feel that it was one of the greatest performances in classic rock history. Like one of the commentators on my UA-cam channel said, "This was a true Rock and Roll anthem if there ever was one...one of the best live recordings and solos ever..." Regarding Lou Reed, the only thing we can really credit him and his manager for is getting this gig originally which made this live recording possible...Thanks for your thoughts Doug, and stop back often for more videos, and subscribe to my channel! 😎

My man, you tore that up!! Well, well done, and thanks for taking the time to do a tribute to those two guys. I was in the 3rd grade on Dec 21, 1973 as my mom and her boyfriend relocated us in a VW van up I-5 to Albany, Oregon. My mom had the coolest music, including the Bad Company album with "Ready for Love" which made me rock the house at 9, and of course Rock N' Roll Animal which I continue to learn more and more about to this day. As I entered the USAF in 1984 I started purchasing my own music and Rock N' Roll Animal immediately entered the collection. I don't have to tell YOU, that whole album is great. Thank you for your comments. Yes, this song really got me going back in the 70's. When I wanted a boost, I would pop in my 8-track of Lou's, Rock and Roll Animal album, which included this tune, into my old Chevy Impala, and I would crank it up as loud as that car stereo would go at the time...It was fantastic to listen to in then and still is today... The 8-track's car stereo speakers just couldn't handle it back then, so I hooked up a 100 watt, (2) 12" guitar speaker cabinet in the back seat to the existing car stereo speaker wires. That did the trick! It was glorious...lol...

Thanks so much for honoring Steve Hunter & Dick Wagner with your video. Love it! 💖😍🎤🎸🎼🎵😎
Great job covering one of the greatest guitar intros ever!!
Thank you Michael! Well after 50 years I noticed that no one since then has covered those solos and the song with any justice. So, I had to do something about that...😉

all I can say is I was at the Lou Reed show where this was recorded.
Yes I agree...Yesterday's memories, things, music, and people become classic treasures in our future lives.
Which is why I like to hold to as many of those memories and things as I can. You never know their value later on...
4 spd Road Runner, KOOL, what year ?
@bigfootsboggybottomlodge4954 just saw this. It was a 72'. I had friends at Chrysler so i was able to get some good parts. Enough goods to have it at 11.80's in the drags. Pretty stout!
SWEET. 👍@@Mr39036ce
I really enjoyed this! My favorite rock & roll duet of all time!
Thanks so much, SoarNH...My favorite rock guitar duet of all time as well!
Easier to hear the Wagner part than in the original - love it!
Thanks MJM, that's one of the reasons I reproduced this masterpiece so every note of that fantastic lead duo performance could be heard and appreciated... Stop back often for more videos!
I remember this note for note. Under rated for sure. One of my all time favorites.
Thank you CRV for your comments! I agree with you 100%...

As a Lou, Mott & Alice fan, v.v.v grateful for your efforts sir!
Thank you Martin, so glad you enjoyed.
The album Rock and Roll Animal opens up with a great guitar solo. Excellent album.
Thanks Joseph! Yes, I agree...
What an audacious thing to do - a cover version of the opening song of the greatest Rock n Roll album of all time! I saw this lineup perform in Melbourne in the 70s following the "support" act, AC/DC. 🤔 That Lou Reed concert remains the best rock n roll concert I've seen. Well done, Kenny!
Thanks Eddie! I really appreciate your comments. I wish I could have seen that concert in Melbourne. I bet it was great. I fact I wish I could see your country once in my lifetime, but that will probably never happen. Check back often for more classic videos, or better yet subscribe. By the way I watched a couple of your videos. Your finger picking style is very disciplined. I loved it. I wish I could pick like that but I think the key is to let your nails grow out a bit and I always cut mine down. I'll have to let them grow out a bit one of these days and give it a whirl again, then I'll see if I can be that disciplined, lol...
Thank you thank you. I am an 71 yr old, former drummer and now guitarist. I have this album and cherish it dearly. This track and your love for it shines thru. Thanks again Great song...

I retract my last comment because some of those backdrops a really cool and I apologize for just everything that I said earlier thank you you guys a great
Thanks for your comments Bernie! This way my production has something in it for everybody.

Great tribute, best intro ever to a song!!
Thanks Tim! I couldn't have said it better myself... Thanks for watching.
Well done..excellent rendition! They just don't make music like that anymore. Thankyou!
Thanks Marc! I couldn't agree more.

One of my favourite songs, great work, subscribed :)
Thank you Ana! Thanks for your comments and, it is one of my favorites as well.
Thanks Eternal! Glad to hear other well known groups appreciated and played their music, as well, from the early 70's.
@@johncitonaki Interesting... I wish I could have heard their rendition of this song. It must have been good, since you are the second person on my page here that has mentioned it...
Great job!! Not only is this a great recording but the video is very imaginative also. I would be hard pressed to find a better cover of any song, just excellent!

A new one was just posted last week!
Nice cover man. I just uploaded my own recently. I like your background, wish I thought to do something similar
Thanks bud! Really appreciate your comments. I see you also appreciate this outstanding duo guitar solo of all time, by Hunter and Wagner. Regarding my background video, I decided every video I do has to have some type of visual story line behind it. I found this especially so, since I am normally video taping myself with out the band other than their studio audio parts. It makes for a more interesting presentation...
Brilliant, really glad i found this video !!

Reminds me of cruising in my 1970 383 Cuda during warm Iowa summer nights...til 3:00 AM...listening to Rock and Roll Animal over and over...great job Sir!
Thanks Dwight, I can relate. This song always reminded me of cruisin' in my 1969 Chevy Impala, on some warm Ohio nights, listening to this tune over and over again, with a little Bowie and some Stones thrown in between....lol.
One of the greatest solos ever!
I agree 100%! Thanks Gary for watching and your comments.
Nice one Ken,you ain't so bad yourself, right up there man

Still my favorite live show opening on record.
Thanks for your comment, Henry! Yea, not too many live, hit tunes, start off with a gang buster live solo section right off the bat, and then go into the first verse and chorus, etc...
The greatest twin guitar work ever.
I agree Jim. Thanks for your comment.
It might be. Wishbone Ash does it regularly however. Their greatest example is the album “Argus”.
Asolutely wonderful!!
Thanks Drew! Much appreciated...
standing on a corner x love lou x rip x
Thanks Vic!
That was excellent !
Like one of the commentators on my UA-cam channel said, "This was a true Rock and Roll anthem if there ever was one...one of the best live recordings and solos ever..."
Regarding Lou Reed, the only thing we can really credit him and his manager for is getting this gig originally which made this live recording possible...Thanks for your thoughts Doug, and stop back often for more videos, and subscribe to my channel! 😎
DANG..... Well done Kenny..
Righteous cover of this epic classic, thanks! Subscribed to your channel. 👊🎶

your homage to one of the greatest intros in rock history has got to be among the best, if not THE best covers out there. so beautifully crafted. if i played guitar i'd be insanely jealous. bravo to you, kenny, bob and brad. thanks for keeping this little piece of the magnificent music and times of the 70's alive.
Thank you Daniel! On behalf of all three of us on this recording, we really appreciate your comments.

Thanks Warren, much appreciated!
Thanks again, you nailed it. Respectfully, JD
Thank you JD! I am humbled by your comments. Your story and those comments are much appreciated.

Great playing. So much fun!!
Thank you!
Thank you, Kenny. A fitting tribute to Steve and Dick. "Intro" got me through college. I played it every morning.
It was glorious...lol...
nice production ! nice guitars!
¡Gracias Gabriel! Me alegro de que te haya gustado.
