Crocheting magical gifts for special patients

- Holly Christensen, a former oncology nurse, saw how much joy could be brought to young cancer patients and their families when she made a Rapunzel wig out of soft yarn for a friend's daughter undergoing chemotherapy. What began in 2015 as a thoughtful gift has since spun into a national non-profit, the Magic Yarn Project. Volunteers at 10 chapters nationwide transform yarn into character wigs for kids with cancer (or any child dealing with medical hair loss). Correspondent Serena Altschul reports.

My daughter, Alani is in this video and she burst into happy tears to see herself!
Thank you for her wig. We received ours during our stay at the Ronald Mcdonald House in Utah
I hope she is doing well. givr her a big hug from from someone in South Carloina .
When my son was in the NICU, he was given hats to keep his head warm when he had his treatments. We have them and they are our treasures. I think of the people who made those little caps to keep my child warm and comfortable and happy often. These wigs and caps are love. Pure love. Thank you for what you are doing
What an amazing act of kindness.
You are an angel!! What a wonderful thing to do for children.
when they put my dad on hospice care. one of his nurse that was sitting with him made him a throw blanket to put on him in his bed. to me that one one of the kindness things . and of I still have it . even though he has been gone for almost year now.
Loved this story and the smiles on the childrens. And very touching story mom and dad shared
Wonderful project, thank you for letting us to know .❤
My heart and blessings go to all the families
Wow, this is so heartwarming! 💖 My friend crochets too, and I always wondered how much good such small things can do. Massive respect to Holly and all the volunteers! 🌟
Beautiful.
Oh Wow! A true blessing to these children! 💗💗
This is amazing !
What a beautiful inspiration! 💙
Awesome story !
I volunteer for the Ronald McDonald house in Seattle and I have seen a lot of kids in my past five years that are going through chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital across the street from the Ronald McDonald house and I would love to get more information about this program. Both of my parents are cancer survivors. I just lost my dad two months ago after a long battle with dementia and my mom is a great crocheting person and she would love to help out
Simply Amazing and beautiful 😢❤❤❤❤
God bless you and your group!❤❤❤
How can I find how to join such a "wonderful" group ???? I am truly interested. . . . . .
Where can I participate in this? I’ve been crocheting up a storm since my own Stage 4 diagnosis, and I’d love to help.
This is truly amazing and touching.
I’m a crocheter and the crochet community of people are wonderful. There are lots of people who will make all sorts of things for anyone adults and children going through cancer and other sickness. Including hats and blankets .
I would love to know more about this project and how I could share my experience and skills to help those children. I’m in Florida. Is there a website where I can get more information on how to help make these wigs and send them to this group?
Would need all the details and specifics on what to use for yarn and sizes and anything else.
Please 🙏🏻 someone with group respond so I can help you grow more wigs. I can also pass this on to my follow crocheters . I know they would want to get involved too.
God bless all of you doing this and all the little life’s that need our prayers and help! 😚🤗
