I’m glad this recording made it back from its little Prairie Home Companion hiatus. This is much better than what’s on her album which is still pretty good. Stark, clean, simple. and Chris‘s closing solo is magic.
Aoife, the expression on your face as you play the chords from 0:30 - 0:34 is the look of an old soul revisiting a place that she's still a little unsure about; but for now she will Trust the Magic and continue on to see where it will take her this time. I have, in turn, Trusted and followed you on these musical journeys and learned so, so much. (or . .. you were just looking at the Ipad lryics scroll by . . . )
This version is so much prettier than the album version. Maybe it's me. I only like acoustic music, but I think the lovely softness of her voice and guitar playing are drowned out by excessive electric guitar and drum use and synthesizer.
Sadly, that seems to be the characteristic of most of the live performances I have heard her sing. I wanna go grab the sound guy up to the cheap seats and scream at him: "Dude, can you even make out her voice? Crank her mic up to 10+, I wanna hear her and her instrument, trash the rest."
SERENDIPITY! not the song I was looking for, but what a awesome mistake to have selected your beautiful music!!
I adore this piece.
Aoife is a great songwriter.

Agree. I love this version
Totally agree. Saw her live recently and her band was so loud it totally obscured her lovely vocals and lyrics.
