👍👍Awesomely awesome performance. They are very talented. Great reaction. Reactors work so hard to share these videos with the world. I discover so many new artists because of this. Wish the music companies would realize this and "lighten" up. 🖖❤

Appreciate the great reaction, and your dedication in trying to get Pentatonix reactions up on your channel! All of the Pentatonix fans (the Pentaholics) know that PTX's label can be a real problem in trying to get reactions up. Text or graphic overlay, reversing left-to-right, making it more transparent, pausing frequently to comment - we've all seen various versions and combinations of most of the tricks that are needed to get the reaction video unblocked, and we've all seen the original video many times, so anything you need to do to the video to get the reaction unblocked will be fine for us. Oddly (at least to me), it's almost always the video that gets blocked, not the audio - what's up with that?!?
The original Evolution of Music video was released in 2013, so obviously nothing newer than that would be included in it. This was the first of several "Evolution of..." medley videos, including Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, and Ariane Grande. Another newer medley is 90s Dance medley - at least newer in their performance, not necessarily the music included. Since Sony/SME (Pentatonix's label) doesn't own the copyrights to the songs included in those medleys, they're usually easier to get past copyright blocks than some of the other PTX videos. Also, there are a number of live performances of PTX performing songs (the 2022 Hollywood Bowl concert is fantastic for this), and sometimes those have less trouble with blocks as well.
I agree with you that all of the members are fantastic singers, but PTX has been asked in interviews a number of times who is the best singer, and they all point to Mitch (short black hair, high tenor/countertenor) as the best singer. While my personal favorite is Kirstin (the female), Mitch is the one who usually surprises people with his voice and they get "Mitch-slapped"!
You mentioned the movie Pitch Perfect - did you know Pentatonix had a cameo role in Pitch Perfect 2? They portrayed a Canadian a cappella group! And of course, didn't win, but...hey, it's the movies, the fix was in!

Pentatonix is a deep rabbit hole with so many covers and original songs of so many genres. I subscribed. For covers maybe Kiss From A Rose ( the live VEVO version) Imagine, The Prayer, Havana, Amazing Grace, Cant Hold Us, O Holy Night For originals try Sing, Happy Now, Run To You, Be My Eyes.

Thanks for your perseverance! It isn't PTX that is blocking the videos, by the way. These Evolution videos are all live and don't usually get blocked. They have a fair few of those that are all great - evolution of Michael Jackson, evolution of Beyonce, Ariana Grande, and a few others as well. Just be aware that you will likely get 100% blocked if you don't pause at least every 45 seconds or so and put up some kind of message over the top of their faces, blur the video, or some other manner of blocking us from clearly seeing the video. We completely understand and as for me, I welcome comments from reactors as you think of things Rather than waiting to make comments at the very end. Generally, once the moment and thought has passed, other thoughts replace it and are then forgotten by the end of the video. So, it's best to stop the video and comment right away. Just a note, once you pause the video, please go back 10 seconds so you don't miss anything that might be coming. Keep it up though as it is well worth it to listen to more of PTX. And, you'll get yourself many more subscribers as a result.

I just subscribed for more Pentatonix reactions. That being said, putting a watermark, or blurring the video slightly (making it transparent) and pausing and offering commentary at least 1x per minute is your best bet to get them through. The evolution of videos I think are easier to get through, but the Lindsay sterling videos almost always get blocked.

    Pentatonix a "brief" background.
They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that.
    The founding members are:-
    Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead);

Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”.
    Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease);
Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and
Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese).
Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on UA-cam, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings.
Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma.
While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition.
They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his UA-cam videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing".
Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours!
They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on UA-cam), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building.
But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records.
Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on UA-cam, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live.
Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers.
But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label.
They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys.
Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry.
Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group.
If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently.
It is an often debated subject among the Pentaholics as to just how soon we introduce the "Beginners Guide" as we don't want to overdo the introduction. This is a compilation of snips of a whole load of songs which PTX have released. It highlights each member with some of their solos and then a brief history in video. It is quite long - 14+ minutes and is a little dated now (Feb 2020) but is a good watch ua-cam.com/video/lDxIfwfCmQE/v-deo.html&pp=ygUdYmVnaW5uZXJzIGd1aWRlIHRvIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D.
After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre.
Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/
Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work.
Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place.
They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Another nomination for Holidays Around the World album in the 2024 list!
Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. They married 22/04/24!
They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star!
They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23.
Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!!
1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to.
2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album.
3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.
    4. It is "Pentatonix" there is no "The".

They were in Pitch Perfect2 at the end. Just a cameo, they were the Canadian team competing against the Bella’s. You can watch a clip of them in the movie. I often tell British reactors that PTX was on British show Sunday Brunch back in 2016 where they sang 3 songs and showed off their lack of cooking skills which is fun to watch.

While there are other very talented acapella groups like Home Free and Voice Play, Pentatonix with their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and having won 3 Grammy awards, are generally considered to be the gold standard when it comes to acapella. I hope you explore them more, they cover a wide genre of music.

Great reaction. Yes many reactors have a heck of a time uploading Pentatonix. I will give you a quick rundown on who they are. The tall blonde in the back row in the middle is Scott Hoying the Baritone. The other gentlemen on his left side is Mitch Grassi he is the Counter Tenor. The gal beside them is Kirsten Maldonado she is a Mezzo Soprano. These 3 grew up together in Arlington Texas and actually are the founding members of Pentatonix. They were on the American show The Sing Off in 2010 or 11 which they won. Avi Kaplan is the Bass singer. He left the group in 2017 and was replaced the same year by Matt Sallee who is in newer video's he is incredible also. Then there is Kevin Olusola beat boxer extraordinaire. When they found him on You Tube he was studying for his Pre- Med degree at Yale which he passed. Before he joined them. He also speaks fluent Mandarin and is a classically trained Cellist which you will see in some video's. And there you have it that is Pentatonix.

The bass is the incredibly talented Avi Kaplan, he has left PTX (for personal reasons) and now has an incredible solo career. You should check him out. Most start with 2019s Change on the Rise his first release after leaving PTX. He also release music while still with PTX under the name Avriel and the Sequoias. Floating on a Dream is his incredible 11 track album and his latest release is an EP Feel Alright.

Thanks for picking up on PTX. You can't really go wrong with anything from their extensive catalog; their cover of Leonard Cohan's "Hallelujah" is stunning and has nearly 750 million views and is a perfect place to start ua-cam.com/video/LRP8d7hhpoQ/v-deo.html. I've seen them three times in concert and they are the only group I've ever heard that sounds as good live as they do in their recorded work. They do a mix of pop stuff, a lot of their own music and (at least) six DVDs of incredible Christmas music. Also, check out their rendition of "Amazing Grace" ua-cam.com/video/Obp-9BEZe1c/v-deo.html with Matt Sallee, the bass that replaced Avi Kaplan when he left the group (amicably) in late 2016 - it's a wonder to behold. Best!

i dont know if you tried this already, but covering the music video with large Text, a filter or lowering the opacity (or some combo thereof) along with more frequent pauses for your commentary, tends to help get it past the copyright block by qualifying for fair use. But yes, their record label (SME) is super aggressive in blocking reactors unfortunately

If you do not want to be Blocked, then you MUST alter the original video. Some fade, others put "copyright" and many put their own channel's name/logo over the original. Don't worry about our view of their video. Most Pentaholics have seen and sometimes memorize their videos. Worst case we watch the Official video on our phone and your reaction on a tablet or computer.
PTX has been under different labels, but they are all owned by Sony and they are protective over all their content from Movies, Music and TV shows. Almost every PTX reaction video is automatically Blocked by Bots. You have to respond to their block before a human will look and respond. Save your reaction to re-upload again. The Pentaholics will guide you through the copyright process.
Pentatonix fans are called Pentaholics and Home Free fans are known as Home Fries. Both were on the NBC show "The Sing-Off" in 2011. PTX won that season but returned the next year when Home Free won. They don't really collaborate but they share the same love of accapella. Great example is John Denver's "Country Roads" that Home Free did the entire song but PTX didn't get clearance in time for them to include it in their medley "Home" that includes almost every song with the word HOME. PTX released their "Home" medley during the pandemic when everyone was isolated at home. You get a sneak peak of each of their homes as they filmed themselves at home and sent it to Ben Brum and the production company.
They actually produced and released an entire album through the pandemic. Kirstin's song, "Love Me When I Don't" was filmed separately and released for a Talk Show when filming and content was hard to create and limited guests on the TV shows.
The biggest difference is Kirstin is the only female accapella singer amoung the groups. Secondary is the fact that Scott, Kirstin and Mitch grew up together in Arlington, TX, USA. Scott met Mitch when they were 10 years old doing the play "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" and Mitch met Kirstin around age 8, but little interaction with each other. They were Community Arts Theater kids and their parents know each other. They were blending voices for years before the Sing-Off.

Use a filter, logo in front of video or make it opaque. That should appease the blocking gods. True PTX fans have seen the videos
