    Even though this channel is small, its quality is on par or sometimes better than other larger channels such as Hardware Canackus and BitWit

      Well, to be fair Bitwit has a low production quality, and does lackluster testing. On the other hand, HWC has makes great cinematic videos with all the information you want to know! Optimum tech is a HWC, not a Bitwit.

    I went out and bought one 4 hours after seeing this video. You had me sold.
    Also, you should do an update video with this board, the newest bios update, and overclocking numbers with Ryzen to show how far the AM4 platform has matured. Would be a very interesting update.
    I also really want to see the details of this board’s overclocking menu options while I wait for mine to arrive 😭

    Can confirm guys. I have this board and besides some minor problems it holds up really well.

    • @dovahkiinb3970
      @dovahkiinb3970 7 років тому +20

      Sometimes it fails to apply the settings I changed in the BIOS and applies them after a failed boot attempt it also sometimes fails to apply the timings for the memory i manually entered. The offset voltage control is also not particularly great, but I heard it's kinda bad on any b350 board. Those are not considered a deal breaker for me tho because I would have to pay like 150$ more for a decent x370 board in my country so naturally I went for this board.

      Hey man, I just built my PC about a week ago with the exact same board, nod I don#t know what your RAM speed is but could you perhaps in God's name tell me how I'm supposed to OC my HyperX Predator RAM to 3200mhz? It just keeps restarting on me everytime I apply the settings.

      +Nicolas Did you attempt to use the XMP profile on the ram?

    • @xXxMrRazorxXx
      @xXxMrRazorxXx 7 років тому +1

      Posh Cheeky Twat I didnt, and im sort of confused as AFAIK there is no specific 'XMP' option on an ASUS motherboard. I'm using an ASUS bios for the first time so...

    • @APeopleP3rson
      @APeopleP3rson 7 років тому +1

      Nicolas Gašparović Look for AI Tweaker(iirc) and anything XMP. Been on a Gigabyte board for too long and can't remember the exact details. You'll have only one option under the XMP drop-down besides auto, so select the opposite.

    Been loving this board. Overclocked my 1600x to 4ghz and even though I messed up and got pc-3000 ram that wasn't on the QVL, I could still get it running stable at 3133mhz.

    I still run this board with Ryzen 2700x (precision boost enabled), RTX 2080 Ti and 2866 Mhz RAM, It works great. I bought it on August 2017 with Ryzen 1600 and RTX 1060 and upgraded in 2018. I can't really find any reasons for upgrade atm, evey BIOS update is very smoth, system is stable when gaming, I'm positivly surprised considering that Vcore VRM is rather poor

    That's the perfect MB for me. I want to build a nice, flashy PC, with AURA sync, RGB strips and fans, but I don't want to spend 250$ on a MB. Pure perfection from ASUS

  • @Nick-GR
    @Nick-GR 6 років тому

    You cannot rely on QVL list alone. Most vendors don't test ALL available types of RAM modules in each motherboard model. So if a particular model is not on the QVL doesn't mean it has been tested and didn't worked. It means usually just that it hasn't been tested.
    An example i've had recently in a system i've build for a client. The Asus B350 Strix-F didn't mentioned the G.Skill Aegis 3000MHz as compatible in the QVL for 3GHz modules, but works like a charm. 100% stable (Memtest86+ pass).

    I can only hope it goes well, I am glad I looked at the approved ram and used it to pick my ram sticks, I just hope ti will reach the 3200 speed as it's what i got for it. Now I waiting for the heatsink hardware so I can use my current heatsink and away I go. I've always had good luck with ASUS Motherboards and I am glad this model is well received by the reviews.

    If I'm to get a Ryzen, this one is the my top pick (140EUR, though). But it's a real damn shame it doesn't really match with my MSI 1060 Gaming X. The gunmetal grey doesn't fit that well with the black and red theme of an MSI card.
    But the nice feature on this board is that the two top PCIe ports are both reinforced, so I can put my card in the second x8 slot, thus showing off that gorgeous chipset design.
    Populating a x8 slot instead of a x16 slot only reduces performance by 0.5 to 1%. Barely noticeable. Steve from Gamers Nexus tested this.

    • @TheSkaterdude64
      @TheSkaterdude64 7 років тому

      STR33TSofJUST1C3 i'v paired this with an msi gtx 970, looks great. This board is stealthy looking enough to fit with any colour.

    • @coolylame
      @coolylame 7 років тому

      the 2nd PCIe slot is x16 anyway, as mentioned at 1:10

    • @STR33TSofJUST1C3
      @STR33TSofJUST1C3 7 років тому

      No it isn't. It may "physically" be a x16 slot, but it's only given x8 lanes.

    • @coolylame
      @coolylame 7 років тому +1

      i mean the manual also say that the top 2 PCIe 3.0 slots are x16.

    • @STR33TSofJUST1C3
      @STR33TSofJUST1C3 7 років тому

      They are physically x16 slots, yes. But the bottom can run only up to x8 when it's the only one populated, or x4 if the top is populated too.
      These are B350 boards, they don't support (via software) more than one x16 pcie port. Physically they are indeed the real deal, but it's disabled in the BIOS.
      Same with the bottom pcie 2.0 x16. As seen in the BIOS, it can only run in x2 or x4, even though it's advertised as x16. Manufacturers advertise the size based on the physical size of the port, not how many lanes are connected.

    You are wrong. Not both slots are running 3.0 x16. Their physical size iz x16 but electrically only first one runs x16 while second one runs x4. B350 does not support double x16

Should i go for an X370 (like an Aorus k5 which is 15 euros more ) ? i dont really care for the SLI since the prices on the Gpu's are to the top now and i can only afford to get one. If you could answer me quick i would be very happy :P I am building it in 5 days so i am in a little bit of a rush...

    Hello there! I bought this motherboard, and i really love it! BUT, i have a concern. In the MoBo manual it says that it has two 16x PCI-e slots. So i plugged my GPU in the 2nd slot because of that rgb heatsink with strix logo. Because of the aesthetics. But when i open GPU-Z it says that gpu is plugged into 16x slot but running at 4x (PCI-E 16x @4x). Then i plugged it into the first slot, and GPU-Z shows PCI-E 16x @16x
    I was wondering if there's any difference?
    Why would it cut down the speed of that slot if only one GPU is used? I am using GTX 1050 TI Gigabyte OC Windforce X2, it as 6pin connector, and runs somewhere in between 1860-1890 MHz.
    And also, I've managed to overclock my Corsair LPX Vengeance 2x4GB 3000MHz to 3200 MHz, and it's working stable. How's that even possible?
    I'm running a Ryzen 7 1700 on this MoBo, with factory cooler, Wraith Spire LED, and i left it at 3.5GHz because of the temperatures. Any suggestions about that? About voltage, frequency etc..

    These reviewers never talk about memory ... The memory of this card only goes up to 2666 mhz without overclocking and the ryzen 3 goes up to 2933 mhz. You have to do OC on the board to operate in 2933 or the ryzen releases the motherboard to use the factory 2933 ??? PFV ANSWER THIS BECAUSE I DON'T SEE THIS ANYWHERE!

    hey man you said the strix b350 f gaming only supported ram up to 3200mhz but in my bios list mine lists speeds all the way up to like 4000mhz... now that said i did update the bios to the newest version when i built it back in march 2018 think im running version 3908 or 3809 or something like that lol id have to look and im not powering down just to do that atm but my build and i have a ryzen 5 1600, asus b350 f gaming, gskill ripjaws 4series 3000mhz (the blue set btw) overclocked to 3200mhz at 1.35volts (had to lower the timings one level to get that stable but all good i think, it handled prime95 mem test for about 6.5hrs and no issues there) also got the msi 1050ti 4gt oc gpu, and a seagate firecuda 1tb hybrid hard drive. tbh i didnt do as thorough of a job on my homework before pulling the trigger on this build but being my first build and step into pc gaming and tech i am pretty happy with the results thus far. i even had the cpu overclocked to 3.9ghz at 1.4volts even got 3.95ghz stable for some benchmarks on my quest for a 4.0ghz clock but unfortunatley that just wasnt meant to be with my chip the 3.95 was with 1.45 volts and i didnt feel comfortable pushing higher then that even just for 10mins to put in some benchmark test results online :( btw i have the corsair h100i v2 aio liquid cooler i def wasnt doing those clock speeds with the stock fan.

      For 4.0 Ghz on Ryzen, I would sugest X370 board (can be MSI if you like it, I think they went down with quality last years, same as Gigabyte) or your power section would be hot as hell.
      Here you can actually see the temps on VRM section, compare Pro Carbon to Taichi. MSI can't match Asrock.

      I agree with Taichi very nice at oc'ing
      but, u dont need x370 at all if u are not gonna SLI
      Pro Carbon has a better audio and things like that than k4

    • @AirsoftAddicted
      @AirsoftAddicted 7 років тому

      X370 boards have better VRM section than B350 boards. Just because of it for OC I recommend X370. And new Asrock boards are insane value - had few in hands, builded few systems with Asrock - they are now best choice along with ASUS.

    Can someone tell me if these specs will well work.
    Asus rog strix b350 f
    Ryzen 3 1200 (planning to upgrade to ryzen 7 1700)
    Gtx 1060 6gb
    8 GB ddr4 corsair lpx at 2666mhz
    Also will this board fit in the nzxt h500 case?
    I'm asking because I'm new to PC building I've had gaming PCs in the past but never built one.
    Thank you.

      Wow, 4.0GHz on only 1.36v? Pretty good, considering some need to crank it up to 1.425v on other cheaper boards.
      A comparion between the three most popular high end B350 boards would be nice though, i.e. the gigabyte gaming 3; MSI b350 gaming pro carbon; and this one.

      srsly amd now with theyre ryzen cpu have more performance for the money and if you wanna go all out streaming 4k then go with the ryzen 7 2700x but use a x470 motherboard or b450 motherboard which can give you the most out of your cpu

      Listen carefully. Return that RAM if you can, and buy G.Skill Trident Z RGB (F4-3200C14D-16GTZR) memory. If you're in Canada, Canada Computers sells it:
      www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_1326&item_id=103830
      as well as Newegg in both Canada:
      www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232485&cm_re=F4-3200C14D-16GTZR-_-20-232-485-_-Product
      and the US. It's critical that you get the 'C14', NOT the 'C16' version, as the 'C14' uses Samsung B die memory chips. If you do, you WILL get 3200MHz memory speed, assuming your Ryzen motherboard and BIOS support it. I have this exact RAM, and it runs at 3200MHz on all three of the following mobos: Asus Prime X370, Asus Prime B350-Plus, and the MSI B350M Gaming PRO.
      I went through Crucial Ballistix and several other G.Skill and this was the ONLY RAM that ran at 3200MHz. Even the Trident Z 3600 RGB C16 wouldn't hit 3200MHz! It is also critical update the BIOS to the latest version for all Ryzen motherboards, especially if the board is one that was released earlier, as it invariably will have an old BIOS that doesn't support the latest AGESA code necessary to run the memory at 3200MHz stable. Do not buy C16 (or CL16) or C15 (CL15) memory for Ryzen, get the C14 (CL14) G.Skill, and specifically, the Trident Z RGB memory I specified above, which is the good stuff.

      It 'supports' any AM4 Ryzen CPU (up to a 2700X at this point).
      For heavy OC's make sure you've got some airflow going around the VRMs (rear and / or top exhaust) and you'll be fine :)

      B350 and X370 boards need a BIOS update before being used for 2nd Gen Ryzen. If you want to use your 2600 out of the box, go for a B450 or X470 board.

Power goes to the motherboard and the RGB node flashes its colors and does that normally but there’s a small orange light on the right corner at the bottom, no fans on my pc turn on period, and my pc case power button will flash blue when I press it so it’s getting power too. Please help.

    I don't know whether I should go for this or the MSI B350 PC MATE. Both of them have RGB headers and that RGB lighting on the chipset is hidden by the GPU so I don't know whether it's worth it to spend an extra $40 on it or not.
