- You know, 15 years ago jumbo stripers like the one featured in our video cover image this week were about the most targeted Jersey Shore species at this late point in the month of June. In fact in the early 2000s the bunker busting bass action was probably hottest between Father's Day and the Fourth of July. As we head into the final weekend of June, there are still a few jumbos in the mix (that's a Tyman fish by the way caught earlier this week). We kick off this week's video fishing forecast with a quick look at the weekend weather forecast while running through the July edition of The Fisherman Magazine out this week in local newsstands and tackle shops. Lighten up for your summer surf sessions (7:20) chasing fluke and bluefish in Open Boat, but be on the lookout for other summer visitors as well (11:27) like bonito, houndfish and sheepshead. New Jersey's one-fish bag for black sea bass (14:55) returns on Monday, but folks crossing state boundaries by boat need to be up-to-date on each state's rules and regulations. George has your update from the Pocono Mountains (18:00) and we spend the final 9 minutes of this week's report (20:41) discussing the politics of fishing which includes a pending vote in New Jersey on speckled trout regulations, and a congressional debate on Capitol Hill today with saltwater anglers at the forefront - or shall we say the "crosshairs" of the discussion. You can view the hearing in its entirety at • Legislative Hearing | ...

Saw several guys get tickets in March, putting stripers in the box on the nj side of the raritan then crossing that ny line before the ny season opens up.
That tog video is wild! And you said he and the bluefish made an agreement to split it lolololol!
Thats Big Hound Fish, Jim!
What would you recommend for lbi surf fishing this week? I’ve been using cut bunker, sp minnows, diamond jigs, swim shads and more for hours today and yesterday and no bites so far.. im using a 10 foot penn squadron with a diawa bg 4000.
Personally, I'd follow Jenni's recommendation in lightening up right now for fluke in the wash (bucktails or jigs tipped with Gulp or FishBites). See if this helps www.thefisherman.com/area/new-jersey-delaware-bay-surf/ -JH
I'm about ready to sell both my boats and take up Golf full time. Anglers are getting Pounded! Wish they spent as much time finding out who's really benefiting from these Windmills and Foreign companies tax breaks.
Can you catch sheepshead from shore? Off of jetty’s ect it seem like the only people that get them is kayak.
Yes, there are several piers (public and private) in Cape May County waters in particular that are quite productive. -JH
