About 2 Meter Sessions

Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

I don't know much about rap, but I found this because I'm a fan of Dutch guitarist Jan Akkerman. This performance is absolutely amazing. Ice-T is a true artist. Fantastic!

Wat mij opvalt is het volgende. Jan doet terug getrokken en bescheiden zijn gitaarspel en rol daarin. De scratcher en percussionist richten zich gedurende dit nummer meer en meer op Jan Akkerman. Aan het eind doet Ice-T dit ook. De echt grote ster blijkt Jan Akkerman te blijven. Wereldnummer voor mij. Zelfs Ice-T buigt zijn hoofd naar hem. Opgeblazen ego vs bescheidenheid

Als je je even verdiept in Ice-T kom je er wel achter dat dat wel meevalt met dat opgeblazen ego. Hij kwam (komt?) een tijd best vaak in Nederland. Een vriend van me heeft in een club een keer zijn demo aan hem gegeven en hij was bijzonder vriendelijk. En 'bescheiden' Jan Akkerman? Het waren gewoon twee alfa mannetjes bij elkaar, dat kan een beetje fout lopen.

Met kennis van nu is het makkelijk oordelen. Realiseer ik me terdege. Met terugwerkende kracht zou je het volgende kunnen concluderen. De presentator realiseerde zich dat een unieke combinatie plaats vond. Door de lange intro van de presentator dat ook prominent in beeld brengt speelt hij een rol. Botsende ego's die tot elkaar even laten zien dat hij ook een rol heeft te vervullen.

Ice is 1 of my favourite rappers he's not the best no where near .....he kinda reminds me of U god from Wu can sometimes spit some napalm bombs then the very next song will be weak ...

Op 0:00 zegt Ice T dat de opname min of meer in 1x op de band stond, terwijl de presentator op 1:42 zegt dat er UITEINDELIJK iets op de band stond.
"Uiteindelijk" heeft betrekking op dat stroeve kennismaking maar toen ze eenmaal begonnen met samenspelen stond het in 1 keer op de band.

they were invited i guess, Ice was in the Netherlands and Jan lives there. So the TV program asked them for a session, and this came out of it. ( Jan , thats how he is, studies a lot, so he knew how to play the song , even backwards or upside down, thats Jan).
