- We are having fun learning how to make Ucuuba butter soap using the cold process soap making method in this weeks soap video. Ucuuba butter is a delicious natural plant butter grown in Central and South America as well as in Africa and Ucuuba has some fab properties for soapmaking.
UCUUBA BUTTER SOAP RECIPE (500g oil batch size)
100g Ucuuba Butter
150g Coconut Oil
25g Argan Oil
150g Sunflower Oil
50g Shea Butter
25g Castor Oil
150g Water
71g Sodium Hydroxide (lye)
15g Lemongrass Essential Oil

I use uucuba butter for my daughters' soap and creams. It's good for dry skin and eczema. The same with cupaucu butter.
I love that! Cupuacu is one of my favourite butters and I use it lavishly in many of my skincare recipes. I agree the Ucuuba is great for dry and irritated skins and I bet your daughter loves it x

Hi Laurie, Welcome to the soap party! There are lots of recipes on our channel that use simple ingredients you already have in your home, so pick one that you like the sound of and dive in.
Laurie Joe- I would reccomend any low fragrant oat based soap for sensitive skin.

I am always impressed how you find these amazing products to add to your soap. I've never heard of ucuuba. I'll have to look that one up. The color of the batter in the pot looked like caramel to me. Thanks so much Renee. I am a bit of a butter and oil junkie. I cannot resist trying them in lots of ways in soaps and skincare. They can make a product feel totally different and can add to a story. I love when I can work with someone that has these ingredients locally and can help them create a difference within the community.

Hi Katherine, It is a lovely ingredient but I haven't made a Bacuri butter soap for years. Maybe it is one I should put on the list to do again :)

TFS I have some OCD issues (don’t judge 🤣😂)...why didn’t you scrape allll the batter out of the mixing cup? 🤔
My recipe makes up the loaf mould and just enough for a single bar. I generally test a gelled loaf and a non gelled single bar whenever I test a new recipe or ingredient

I noticed in your recipe for a 500g oils soap that you add 15g of lemongrass essential oil. Which equates 3%. Is this correct? I have learned that lemongrass essential oil should only be 1.5% maximum. Am I mislead? Please advise as I want to produce this recipe as it sounds great 😊. Thanks
Amounts allowable if selling vary from area to area and over time too. The amount was correct at the time of filming but lemongrass has been limited in the UK now to a lower amount if selling
the ucuuba soap looks luxurious. Ive never heard of ucuuba butter. Where would purchase it in the United States?
