Lotto's only job should be getting Caleb onto Sam's wheel. Sam is the best lead out man in the world and Caleb is the only one in the world that can come over him in the last 50m.
The insight on how Kluge was pinched by Morkov and Laas was spot on. Didn't notice that live! Quick thinking by Ewan. Well deserved win and another great vid!
Its pure joy with all the consistent contet from you guys. So ye i love the work you put in the UAE Tour. Im watching it all, so if you will cover similar small races like Tour de Pologne and Romandie, i would be in heaven. I know its a big favor to ask, because at that time there is already so much cycling going on. You guys are just doing a stellar Job, so i just love more hahah xD
Bro... Ive been a subscriber from early in the game and at the time, "How the Race Was Won" was the best cycling analysis on the interwebs.... THE KING IS DEAD....LONG LIVE THE KING!!! Your use of graphics, detailed breakdowns, multiple camera angles and insightful commentary is at the highest level hands down... GCN, Velon, Eurosport and all the other sport channels should have a look at what you are doing... You are fast becoming the Chris Harris of online cycling reviews... BRAVO! :-)
Excellent analysis as always. I enjoyed the UAE Tour. The ability to watch (most of) the stages here on UA-cam was a great addition. These vids - and the podcast with Benji - are the best cycling-related content out there. P.S. there's a sweepstake running on when the hat makes its next appearance :-)
Mate your videos evolved great and are even more enjoyable. Keep the good work going. You are hitting the sweetspot between tactics, insights and entertainment. Thank you!
Great review. Very succinct. This is a text book team effort to get Bennett the win. Ewen had no team to keep him from getting pinched and having to burn all of his matches. A great lead out is really quite fascinating. All of the miles and all of the breaks and all of the pulls leads to the win coming from a launch consisting of about 6-8 pedal strokes at full gas at the perfect time.
Still have Calebs sprint from the tour fresh in my mind. If he can find the right wheel more often and be delivered better then I can see many more stage wins coming his way
Yates is hard as nails. in the first sprint the road surface in the slowmos looks herrendous, ridges in the road you see wheels bumping around. the seconds sprint you can see how smooth the road is.
Not sure I really need to watch the race live, listen to Benji and Lantern analyse it on the pod, then watch Lantern go through it again with more video, but here we are
What I noticed from this video that I didn't see at the time was the form that Gaviria was in; came from a mile back to get 5th in stage 6, then was nearly put in the barriers on stage 7....definitely looking better than his results
It's been said before but if you are a sprinter (really, any type of rider) and you leave Quickstep you are basically guaranteeing yourself worse results.
I thought the crosswind stage one took the wind out of it a little bit. The Pogacar-Yates gap after the ITT and Yates tactical mistake to ride him up the Hafeet seeled the deal too early. You know there were no 40s up the Jais. But the cool thing is you still had sprints to look forward to the next day. And in general this race had interesting stages just the big GC fight you dreamed of before couldn't happen after stage one.
Great commentary, but I always find it strange when LR says "I think there may have been a crash", "I think there may have been a fine" ... to obviously verifiable statements. This happens regularly.
Amazing job covering this tour. Always excited for new content from this channel as well as the podcast. Keep up the great work!!! on another note... what happened to all your old analysis videos? I like to go back and watch from time to time and discovered that most are gone now :(
I like the fact DQS leadout riders often keep sprinting in order to secure another Top5 result for the team. (I know they also did it for other purposes)
Give Caleb Ewan a consistent leadout till the last 250 meters, his number of victories would go through the roof. The depth and quality of of today's sprinters make for exciting finishes at the end of the most boring races.
Is it only me or do you guys also think Caleb has changed his sprint position? He used to be leaning over his bars with his head just above the tarmac, as far as I remember.
Consider how quick Bennett overtook Morkov on stage 6, and contrast that with stage 7... Bennett looked alot more slow, and was also looking over at ewan rather than his usual drill it to the line... LR failed to mention that Bennett lost Morkovs wheel (in the final 2k) and had to drop back, go around the outside and sprint back up to Morkovs wheel. Regardless, these two are set for a great year of dueling.
@@LanterneRougeCycling I might be wrong, but I think I remember you said in your podcast that you were planning to do a KBK recap podcast. Just sayin' , KBK isn't very important and you are spoiling us anyway by bombarding us with great content almost every day.
Watched the entire race ... I was rooting for Greipel to get a win and he was dropped off in good position on at least two of the sprint days but alas the Gorilla no longer has the power to deliver against the younger generation. ISN should be working for one of their younger sprinters and have Greipel mentor and lead out.
Your arrows and key road point marker are excellent additions.
I really agree with this. A subtle addition that adds even more 'Lanterne Rougeness' to the LR channel
I don’t recall who of you guys mentioned it in the podcast, but the organizers should really make the last stage a night crit in the F1 track.
That would actually be class
I would pay to see that.
Sounds sweet, gets my vote
Haven’t they done this in the past boring af

Loved the UAE tour very fun, and I love the highlight videos and the podcasts!
I absolutely love those videos. That's the only way I followed the UAE Tour. Thanks for doing them! Production value is top notch.
Go at it LR - too much fun! Your reviews are magic.
I truly appreciate the level of depth of your videos. much respect. cheers from Israel
Again great commentary, I wouldn't know who the up and coming riders are , or team strategy without your insight.
Fabulous stache you are rocking here mate

Did not watch any of the race, aside from your excellent videos. Thank you!
dang, yates making ewan look downright huge at 5:11.
lmao that's weird, Ewan is shorter than him. Crazy how much muscle he packs
I really liked your highlights series. Continue like that 😉👍.
I did watched. Great competition, better better with your coverage!!
I'm just watching these for the sick outro.

Love the analysis LR 👌
Roger Kluge ist a great rider. It was impressive how he pulled Ewan thru last year's tour.
Lanterne, are you still going to do a KBK podcast? Love the content!
Amazing analysis as ever.
great great coverage
Bad take, LR. 6:21 guy in blue obviously throws a magic booger that causes the wreck. It's plain as day.
Haha
Didn't miss a minute!
5:59 it was at this moment, he knew... He'd fucked up.

great vid. I could have used a label for Bennett at 3:37

Sprinters change but Mörköv stays. Dude is the real beast. Underrated domestique/lead out man.

who is a better lead out man Morkov or Renshaw?
LR: what about an analysis of Chris Froome's form and performance?
Does Ineos even have a sprinter?
not at the UAE, all in for Yates GC
I'd consider Pidcock a decent sprinter with his leg speed and bike handling, but not in the mass spurts
I like the fact DQS leadout riders often keep sprinting in order to secure another Top5 result for the team. (I know they also did it for other purposes)
Lucky they have disc brakes on all these big tour sprinter's pancakes.

Was Bennett in too high a gear to respond to Ewan? His cadence was certainly lower than Caleb’s in those last 150m. 🤔

Honestly, if I were any other team having to go against Pogacar, I'd be sh*ting myself 😅
How come all the old videos have gone from the channel?!? They were golden
6:36 ouch
Caleb really does seem the faster sprinter, but every Cavendish needs a Renshaw.
Does any one else like LR videos before you actually watch them? I already know its gonna be good
No, that defeats the purpose
Lanterne rouge, what happened to all your videos, I’m devastated. I was just looking back to watch my favorites and so many are gone, what the deal?
