I realize this video is 2 years old. I am making this for my G Grandson. I hope i can do this. There are many videos on UA-cam for this. But I get yours...I understand you...When you talk it sinks into my brain, I get what you are saying. You don't talk over the viewer. You teach, I understand. That is huge..
Hello, this is great! Your instructions are so clear and precise. I saw a few other videos about this kind of project. I love how you explained this. I’m making one of these for my nanny child. Thank you! 😌
I've made a few of these because they make great gifts for kids. The pattern I had was for a 12" pillow which I thought was way too small. I adjusted it for the 16" size. A friend of mine made a few also but added a nice extra feature. She put a binding at the top of the pocket using a contrasting color. It looks nice and adds strength to the pocket. Thanks for this tutorial. Now I feel like making another one even though I don't need it!
The binding on top of the pocket is a smart idea. I also like the ones with a handle at the top. Great for toddlers who like to carry everything around.
It’s hard to find gifts for our parents when we’re adults too. They have everything they need and buy what they want. I think a reading pillow with a new book or crossword puzzle would be a wonderful and thoughtful gift for your mom.
Cute pillow! I don't have any grandchildren either and I'll be 57 soon enough. Great idea to go over other pillows. We don't use our original couch pillows either! Have a good weekend :)
I was just thinking that these would be fun for the giving tree. A local organization collects toys and clothes for needy or foster kids for Christmas. Adding in a book and reading pillow would be fun for various ages. It’s so hard to make things for older kids. Most everyone loves a squishy pillow.
I like watching your videos because you give great tips for sewing this project that can be used for other projects. I plan to make a bunch of these. They are great for in the car or home. I have seen some with a small handle in the top seam for carrying. Great video for new and experienced sewers.
Thank you. Yes, once you learn a few basic techniques you can apply them to many other projects. A few little tips and tricks can make things go much more smoothly. I did see the ones with a handle and I thought they were a great idea. Perfect for toddlers who like to carry everything around the house.
Need to add this project to my Christmas gift list! Watching you wrestling the pillow in made me wonder if giving my cat his medicine is an easier task! 😹
🤣. I think this pillow has foam pieces inside versus fiber fil. We don’t use these pillows because they’re rock hard. A regular pillow form will be much easier to stuff inside the cover. I don’t even want to think about giving my cats medicine 😱
Lovely Suess fabrics. I have some (non Suess) alphabet fabrics which I can substitute for my project. In the UK an oblong pillow goes on a bed - a square cushion goes on a settee/chair. I remember the first time reading/hearing how you use your 'pillows'. Happy sewing Robin :)
It does take a second to switch our brains from US to UK or UK to US. There are so many regional dialects and word usage that makes it even more confusing. I do sleep on an oblong pillow. I sit on a couch cushion and I use throw pillows to decorate my couch. Come back next week and I could mix all of those words up 😉
I love the reading pillow! 📚 If I was planning for a stuffed toy or bulky items in the pocket, I would definitely plan to add an inch or so to the starting fabric squares. Thanks for the video!
One of the best tutorials I've seen
Thank you so much 🦩
Love your pillow That’s so cute with Dr Suess material.
Thank you Theresa. When I was choosing fabrics I knew I had to use the Dr. Suess fabrics.

Thank you so much. You can do this. One step at a time along with me in the no idea. Pause. Rewind. It’ll be a great gift for your GGrandson.
excellent tutorial with lots of easy details and hints; thank you so much
You’re very welcome. 🦩
Thanks so very much for your pillow tutorial! You are the ONLY one that explained the 1/4 seam mark on the sewing foot!!!!!
Thank you Cindi. It’s just a little thing but so helpful.
Pretty pillow 👍🏻🦩🦩😋

You’re welcome Sally. This pillow raises the “fun” level of just a book for Christmas.

@@rsislandcrafts that sounds like a wonderful, thoughtful gift idea!
What a neat idea! I think my family will get one and maybe a pillowcase for their big pillow to match also. Thank you for such wonderful ideas.
A matching pillowcase is a fun idea.

Meant to say arthritis- just love spell-check sometimes! 😾

I agree. A stuffie would need more room.
Hello 👋 Anna
How are you doing?
Such an adorable pillow and cute idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you 🦩
I like your little fabric basket for your clips! Tutorial?
I received the little fabric basket as a gift but I did make a video for a similar basket. m.ua-cam.com/video/XaovpuE20wU/v-deo.html
Would there be any issues with having the envelope flaps horizontally on the back rather than diagonally as you have?
You can have your flaps in any direction. Personal preference. I tend to think left and right versus top and bottom 🤷♀️
Sorry not diagonally but vertically 🥴
That’s okay. I read It as you meant.
can u please tell me the name of fabrics used.
All of the fabrics are from the Dr Suess line from Robert Kaufman
@@rsislandcrafts thank you
