I agree, she is trying too hard to pass as a native Torontonian (the tone and inflection of her voice and her sunny disposition give her away 😉 as well as her teaching people how Toronto is pronounced )
jason's apartment is pretty brilliant. all of that for 1000 a month here is a steal. you'd usually be stuck sharing everything but your room for that price
why do I feel like this is unrealistic, these are all gems and half of my friends live in basements paying at least $1500
I don't think this is meant to be realistic. Buzzfeed wouldn't show apartments that aren't aesthetically pleasing because it doesn't generate views.

Ya no way. I paid 1800 for a one bedroom one bathroom and den apartment in Edmonton Alberta.
I moved out of TO in 2018, but these rents seem way cheaper than when I was there

That toaster in the microwave gives me anxiety. If a button goes off accidently it will blow up
THANK YOU! I have cats and they don't know boundaries so often times I would stick something I had cooked in there til I finished... like a pot so that they wouldn't try to eat the food. I would always unplug the microwave. And I'm glad I do... cause my current microwave is broken (but still works) and will randomly turn on so now it's always unplugged except when I want to use it.
And it was turned on too

@@danielalozano2435 the microwave is plugged in. If the microwave malfunctions and starts "microwaving" then it's going to cause a fire with the toaster being inside of it.
The microwave is broken!! The light turns on when you open it but it does not work at all. I promise nothing will accidentally blow up.

i was gonna say!! a townhouse condo between queen and bathurst? girl, you are looking at 2900+ for new listings in that area, I'm guessing they got lucky with subletting or they've been there for years and its rent controlled

These are pretty old buildings, but prices are accurate since the pandemic brought everything down. If you are a working professional in the city you make enough to afford it.

These prices are inaccurate, the church wellesley apartment has been rented for 6 years, 4 years ago in 2016 we had a housing jump, and prices have increased over 10% per year. The price should be closer to $3000 now.

Haha right? Thats what i keep thinking. When we just moved to Toronto we were renting this 2 bedroom condo for $950 -$1000 in etobicoke in 2010. That same apartment is going for about $1950 now . And thats like 30 min out of city on a good day lol

Crazy to think to get the square footage I have they would need to spend like $10,000 USD a month. My cousin was buying a condo in downtown Toronto last year and I think it was something like $500,000 CAD for 500 sq.ft, insane.

these places are way too cheap for what they are. that queen west apt is insane deal. Some 5 years ago 1 bedroom, 500sqft and rent was close to 2400 just a few blocks from queen/bathurst.

it looks like 333 sq ft or a little less for me XD when you are not counting a balcony. I do live in flat this size, but I do have separate bedroom, instead of kitchen with only small kitchenette in my living room and I do have plenty of space. layout of the apartment and how many furniture you have is important in small spaces like that

These are not common at all. I would suspect these people have been living in their apartments for many years. No way you could find deals like that now.

Okay I loved this but also there are other neighborhoods in the GTA surroundings. The Toronto Pearson International Airport is in Mississauga but doesn't get credited ever.
