Your remixes literally sound *exactly* like they're from the 1980's, and always sound nostalgic for me every time. I genuinely think you're at the same quality as TRONICBOX, if not better. And the visuals here are very unique, and go above and beyond with details and photoshops! The production value on this video is especially sky high. "Awesome" doesn't begin to describe your work, and you deserve way more attention and subscribers. Amazing work!
This song was playing at party I went to in Beverly Hills in 1983. I got an invite at the last minute because I worked with someone who was friends with the host - I won't say who the host was, but was a VERY famous author who wrote books about Hollywood. I met her at the party, and she insisted on playing this song for everyone at the party. That was the first time I heard a Taylor Swift song. I'll always remember that party and the amazing people I met there. The host passed away in 2015 and I'll always associate this song with her. R.I.P.
I remember how much hate she got when she came out with this song for simply highlighting the darker side of the industry. She was really one of the first to come out to sing about it even though it was so prevalent. I remember some artists were heckling her when she picked up her award for this song at the music awards in the late 80s. Sad that it ended up with her going through so much rehab but I'm glad she's doing better now
Tronicbox has left the scene, but fortunately now we have you. This song is originally average but you orchestrated just as it should have. And those Christopher Cross-like Rhodes chords... Divine!
I love how this song could be a perfect intro for a late 80's sitcom LOL --- Taylor is a fun but lonely girl working at the Gap at the mall and she dreams of dating Corey Hart ha ha ha!
LYRICS: I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser Midnights become my afternoons When my depression works the graveyard shift All of the people I've ghosted stand there in the room I should not be left to my own devices They come with prices and vices I end up in crisis (tale as old as time) I wake up screaming from dreaming One day I'll watch as you're leaving 'Cause you got tired of my scheming (For the last time) It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me At tea time, everybody agrees I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby And I'm a monster on the hill Too big to hang out, slowly lurching toward your favorite city Pierced through the heart, but never killed Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism Like some kind of congressman? (Tale as old as time) I wake up screaming from dreaming One day I'll watch as you're leaving And life will lose all its meaning (For the last time) It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me) At tea time, everybody agrees I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero I have this dream my daughter in-law kills me for the money She thinks I left them in the will The family gathers 'round and reads it and then someone screams out "She's laughing up at us from hell" It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me It's me, hi, everybody agrees, everybody agrees It's me, hi (hi), I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me) At tea (tea) time (time), everybody agrees (everybody agrees) I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
Excellent remix, comme toujours ! Des e-pians qui scintillent, une basse bondissante, des brass étincelants... un solo du niveau "I'm always here" :p .... Les années 80 comme si on y était On a de la chance de le compter comme claviériste. Le meilleur qui soit de Biarritz à Ostende !
Very impressive. So recognizable I can't help trying to figure out the song structure template, but Foster/Graydon etc is probably as close as I'll get :)
Thank you so much. Yes, they are some of my biggest inspirations, like Robbie Buchanan, Kashif, Afanasieff,... and my remixes also depend a lot on what I listen to at the moment. the intro of this one is clearly inspired by "where do you hide you heart" by Amy Grant. “switch on you radio” by Maurice White inspired me for the rhythm of the chorus 😛

Anti Hero was my mom's favorite album back in '86! She lost it when the 90s came along! So sad.
My favorite song on the 1959 album

LYRICS:
I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift
All of the people I've ghosted stand there in the room
I should not be left to my own devices
They come with prices and vices
I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
'Cause you got tired of my scheming
(For the last time)
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
At tea time, everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby
And I'm a monster on the hill
Too big to hang out, slowly lurching toward your favorite city
Pierced through the heart, but never killed
Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism
Like some kind of congressman? (Tale as old as time)

I have this dream my daughter in-law kills me for the money
She thinks I left them in the will
The family gathers 'round and reads it and then someone screams out
"She's laughing up at us from hell"
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
It's me, hi, everybody agrees, everybody agrees
It's me, hi (hi), I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me)
At tea (tea) time (time), everybody agrees (everybody agrees)
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

I just take a look at your channel. You're a great guitarist, much better than me. Do you often make sessions ?

Who are your inspirations for this one? I hear some Russ Freeman vibes here.
Yes, but also Christopher Cross, Paul Young, DeBarge, Maurice White, Amy Grant,... 😝

I knew that I wasn't wrong that Anti-hero was off by a few decades..
it's been 37 years today since the song reached first place on the Billboard hot 100, for 12 weeks
