I find it interesting how Thrawn and Tarkin are polar opposites with their military strategy. Thrawn never underestimated the rebellion, with the Tie defenders he was building up the empires capabilities to maintain their military advantage and win the war traditionally. Meanwhile Tarkin wanted to win the war before it even began, he underestimated the rebellion because he didn’t see the Death Star as a military battle station, he saw it as a enforcement of his political doctrine. TLDR if Tarkin and Thrawn swapped opponents, so Thrawn took on the alliance and Tarkin took on the ghost. The rebellion would be very VERY dead and buried.
What are you talking about? Thrawn constantly let the Rebels go after they blew up several of his people and space ships. Then just said, "Ah, all according to my plan." Proceeding to lose in that plan at the end of the day. What a bastardization of another beloved character.
You are correct. A single star destroyer helmed by Thrawn with a full squadron of Defenders would have wiped the floor with the Rebels at Yavin, Luke or no Luke.

@ThatWTVGuy I want you to know the entire show didn't build up to that event. There were no hints as to what that master plan exactly was. It was hastily done to make the guy a real threat for once but it ultimately didn't matter because Ezra communed with whales or something. So that plot was another one episode then move on story. Then, there was a whole season of Thrawn constantly doing nothing about this specific rebel group just slapping his ass and running away. He's a moron who could have taken 5 seconds to go after them. There was literally a scene where after the Rebels blew up one of his things he was in a space station just staring at them and said for no one to go after them. They also did that dumb thing where the villain kills his own people to really look evil. They once again ruined another character and we'll never get the real Thrawn who came back with a whole fleet to take over after Palpatine died.

I also really love that two of the most prominent generals in the clone wars, Anakin and Grievous never meet in the clone wars show because of one line in episode 3.
The writers of Rebels dug deep into the old expanded universe for Thrawn, a blue Chiss imperial admiral who farmed New Republic ships from the shipyards of Sluis Van in order to supplment his fleet, an operation Thrawn referred to as the beginning of his ultimate victory over the New Republic thus an important turning point in the original story of Thrwan. Therefore the working title for Rebels was originally called Blue Harvest
Rebels was only good when characters from other SW content were there : Vader, Ahsoka, Maul, Thrawn, etc. The main cast however was really weak, or rather under developped. They focused too much on humor for the first two seasons. Should the tone and writing of the third season been there since season 1, the show would have been way different.

I was fully expecting a blue harvest bit to slither its way into the trivia portion and when it didn’t happen I thought to myself “wow, James showed such restraint, especially when talking about how Thrawn was blue” but in all honesty he probably just forgot that’s a bit that he does
When you claim Thrawn's order to bombard Lothal was nothing more than "standard Imperial procedure," I think you misunderstand how this showcases Thrawn's strategic abilities. In the season finale, the rebels' master plan was to trap all Imperial forces into one building and utilize them as hostages. When the rebels succeed in their plan, Thrawn orders the entire city to be bombarded, save for the one building Imperial troops were held hostage in. Thrawn used the rebels' plan against them by allowing them to "trap" his ground forces, thereby avoiding Imperial casualties when the city is bombarded. Not only were the rebels completely blindsided to this flaw in their master plan but Thrawn is successful in utilizing the bombardment to get Ezra to surrender.
I wish they knew that Thrawn in supposed to be a genius level military tactician. It's a pretty easy thing to remember. It worked in the books since there was plenty of people he was allowed to kill offscreen, but here even the most minor npc has plot armor so it made him seem completely inept.

Spoiler Warning This video was awesome man, favourite joke is the stabbing fireball I actually laughed out loud at this. But my favourite scene of the finale was Gregors Death, its sad but so good, like the clones got so screwed over by Palpatine. They were child soldiers fighting a war they had not started, for a system that viewed them as property and then they were forced to murder their friends and generals. And then Gregor pays the ultimate price fighting the evil, they helped creating and says, that hes proud to have fought for something they believed in come on man, thats so good and I cried. But maybe I am the exception cuz its not even mentioned in this video :D
Originally, Dave Filoni proposed to do a series _without_ Force users, and focus on fighter pilots. Eventually they went with the idea of focusing on a group of heroes that were always on the run while trying to help others, like The A-Team. In some versions, Kanan had a robot arm, Zeb was first conceived as an Ithorian (the Hammerhead alien) then a large blue Snivvian (Snaggletooth) before finally basing him on some of the original Ralph McQuarrie Wookiee concept art. It was also decided early on to focus a large part of the narrative on the Empire’s plot to capture Force-sensitives and turn them into imperial agents (code name: Project Harvester), which would later be touched upon both in the video game “Fallen Order” and the Disney+ “Obi-Wan” series. This ultimately led to some members of the production team jokingly referring to show as “Blue Harvest” which was also coincidentally the working title for the 1977 film Star Wars.
I absolutely hate the "Nik Sant is actually Rex" theory. You see the thing about Rex is, he's a clone. And the thing about clones is, they have Temuera Morrison's face. The person who played Nik Sant was just some old British guy who looks nothing like him
Same for me it just seems forced. I know if I give my character a beard and jungle fatigues I can say he’s that guy from ROTJ. If you want to create a backstory for “Nik Sant” fine but don’t dress your new character up and say it’s him
oh yes it's that time of the week and its the third time where I will comment on a Caravan of Garbage where I shall request the boys to cover Curse of the Black Pearl
What Clone Wars/Rebels did for Maul and characters like that is truly spectacular. I will never not tell people that those shows are pivotal watching material if you are a Star Wars fan.
Speaking of Ralph Macchio and Karate Kid... you guys should do those movies. All of 'em. Or Cobra Kai? Either one. I'd be happy, a whole new swatch of nerdom would be happy and available to you guys. Sounds like a market to me. Do it.
Rebels is one of the greatest SW shows out there. At least during Disney's era for sure. The exploration of the Force alone makes it a great show but the characters and their development is amazing. They also did all this with a fraction of the budget they had for Clone Wars. Anyway, this show is probably my favorite SW show ever.
The art design shift that he found upsetting was the Clone Wars series has more angular square-shaped heads and the Rebels series rounded out the heads to be oval-shaped with smooth edges. It was the first thing I noticed when they played the clips from the 2 shows and I feel the same way.
I clearly remember James saying he loved The Clone Wars especially the early version of Ahsoka. Also his favorite arc was the one with the droids and the little frog man
Genuinely shocked there wasn’t a Blue Harvest joke, considering the obvious inclusion of Thrawn.
I think it's because it's already Star Wars, so the sillyness of the gag wouldn't land as well

I like the art style but I wish that the show had a bigger budget. The same art style but crisper and more detailed with better animation could look amazing.
@@dustinakadustin I somewhat know what you mean but I feel like even if you disregard how the show looks it is still overrated every situation the ‘gang’ gets into it’s always solved by their big friend the space whale monsters or something stupid and kiddy, and do I need to mention the helicopter-sabers?
@@tomgarton9442is it OK to disregard 4 amazing seasons of character development and some of the best worldbuilding in new star wars canon because there are whales in space and helicopter lightsabers in one episode 🤨 people always focus on superficial and unimportant things about rebels and never the love and care put into the characters. And never once do they escape because of something "kiddy"
@@conorb7094 r u brain dead u lit described the last episode and there is definitely multiple helicopter instances😂 and the empires always getting foiled by zeb the crazy alien or chopper the funny droid hehe u know I’m right lol
Spoiler Warning
This video was awesome man, favourite joke is the stabbing fireball I actually laughed out loud at this.
They didn't give us a hint and told us to figure it out. That means only one thing time to pop in my copy of snake eyes.
Thrawn "I'd have gotten away with it too...if not for you meddling kids!"
More animated Star Wars content? I FEEL it boys, the Umbara arc is coming soon.
LOL, the ball of fire shanking was the SW content i never knew I needed.
James saying “every face a different shade” made me laugh way too hard
18:52 To sumarise Maso's thoughts on The Clone Wars finale, he was a big fan of Jesse's head tattoo. I think that was it.
Mason might be the most disinterested Star Wars fan of us all. 🤣
19:56 "I'll never tell" So, in honor of Subspace Rhapsody, they are doing Once More With Feeling.
"We got you nothing and that's from both of us." I'm dying over here 🤣😂🤣
Originally, Dave Filoni proposed to do a series _without_ Force users, and focus on fighter pilots.
Can't wait For Ahsoka... Rebels was a top-tier show by itself
of course the one time Harrison Ford cared about Star Wars lore it was about how to fly a plane
Guys the next Caravan of Garbage series is Robocop, James said it on suggestible this week (his less successful podcast)
WOW, perfect editing when James said "slobs and snobs" they showed Mace getting a KNOB.
The World Between Worlds is a physical manifestation of Wookiepedia.
If you want to create a backstory for “Nik Sant” fine but don’t dress your new character up and say it’s him
I almost took back my like for the lack of the temporary return of the Blueharvest bit.
How the hell can a star wars caravan of garbage doesn't have a single blue harvest joke. This shows that James have great restraints
1:42 little pig boy comes from the dirt.
Yall are amazing, this video editing killed me.
oh yes it's that time of the week
and its the third time where I will comment on a Caravan of Garbage where I shall request the boys to cover Curse of the Black Pearl
2:09 "Don't worry! We'll just only kill off the neurodiverse-coded character! Nobody cares about *him* right?"
What Clone Wars/Rebels did for Maul and characters like that is truly spectacular. I will never not tell people that those shows are pivotal watching material if you are a Star Wars fan.
It’s been over a year since you were supposed to do the Kenobi episode of this show! I am outraged and will not be leaving a like on this video!
Speaking of Ralph Macchio and Karate Kid... you guys should do those movies. All of 'em. Or Cobra Kai? Either one. I'd be happy, a whole new swatch of nerdom would be happy and available to you guys. Sounds like a market to me. Do it.
“Cate Blanchett in crystal skull lookin ass…” 😂😂😂😂
7:43 And Galaxy Quest has yet another layer, with the Thermians building the ship to function based on Laredo's movements from the show.
Hearing mason say "lookin ass" makes my southern heart swell
Next week's gonna be Snake Eyes but Mason didn't want to spoil the surprise
Rebels is AMAZING!!!
I like this Star Wars because of how Star Wars it is too!
9:52 I was going to say the magic realm that allows me access to various important points in the Star Wars universe is called "Disney+" 🤣
They tried that in She Hulk... didn't work out did it. 😅 (I actually really liked that sequence) 😂
The art design shift that he found upsetting was the Clone Wars series has more angular square-shaped heads and the Rebels series rounded out the heads to be oval-shaped with smooth edges. It was the first thing I noticed when they played the clips from the 2 shows and I feel the same way.
I think your editors put the wrong tags on this video lol
14:18 the original original trilogy. The OOT.
I like how this video has tmnt tags lol
I clearly remember James saying he loved The Clone Wars especially the early version of Ahsoka. Also his favorite arc was the one with the droids and the little frog man
I am convinced you say stuff full knowing the editor will have to make it happen visually.
Was hoping to get some blue trivia thanks to the blue man being featured
