Hi, I’m a new subscriber. I don’t make plushies at the moment but I do crochet and knit wearables. I came here looking for Etsy advice and boy did I find it in you. I’d love to suggest you consider making one or two videos a month on everything Etsy-related on this channel. Possibly consider a Q&A either live or recorded or both or perhaps even starting a new channel dedicated to starting a small business and everything that comes with it. You have a knack for this. Out of all the UA-camrs I’ve watched on setting up an Etsy store, your videos stand out. You cover so much more, from upfront fees, presentation, listing products, to shipping costs and beyond. But what truly impressed me was your genuine enthusiasm-not just for your business, product, and craft, but also for your passion for wanting everyone who watches your videos to succeed. I can see you someday doing a TED talk. Keep the fire burning-you’re making a real difference.
hi! ^^ I'm 13 rn and i started my lil crochet business like 6 months ago, and you were my inspiration and motivation that maybe someday ill make big crochet business like you! :D And i absolutely love ur videos
Hi Genna! This is exactly what I needed to hear at the start of the year. My business is tiny. I have made 7 sales of my crochet pattern on Etsy and I'm pushing through with my newest upcoming pattern. I have relied on your advice and my love for creating to push through insecurities about my new business and make it take off. Thanks for all you do! You're a rockstar! ❤
Or hire a professional graphic designer such as myself who designs completely ORIGINAL for your branding since people use and reuse things in Canva and nothing is really original, AND realize that you need to trademark your logo for it to absolutely be yours and never someone else’s.
I really love your tip about taking a leap of faith, Genna. It really hits home as I'm one of those people who constantly says "What if it doesn't work out? What if no one likes my stuff?" Honestly, I really need to get out of that mindset. I hope to be able to conquer that fear this year. 😊
Lovely video. I have a pretty chill crochet business alongside my other 2 jobs and I realize I am so blessed that I don't have to dedicate too much to it. I do custom orders and ready made practical home items and cat themed accessories.
Hello Genna, Thank you for this. This is very informative and helpful. I have been crocheting for many years. However, recently I have started selling my finished pieces. You are inspiring.
Etsy ads are SO important! Even if you have a bunch of followers on insta, getting that conversion rate up will ALWAYS be the hardest part! I have 16k followers and since reopening my Etsy, I've definitely relied on ads!
The dollar a day method is something that Dennis Yu came up with and it's supposed to be very helpful, so it was encouraging to see that you had success starting out with that!
I’m starting my second small business by the end of 2024 and this video was really helpful! I’ve never been into social media but it’s a step I have to take in order to be successful the media based culture we live in. I’m planning on repurposing thrift clothing and home decor using my artistic talents and sewing skills (that need to be improved 😂) and selling stuff people ACTUALLY could see themselves wearing or displaying in their house. I’m moving to a city with a fun artist based Bazaar and I can’t wait to start selling my products there in person after I move! Thanks for the advice and inspiration! Wish me luck!! 😁😊
Hi Genna! I am 11 and just starting my small crochet business and I find this video so helpful to me. Thank you! And I love watching your other videos too!😊
Genna, what an inspiring video!!! Great information you have shared from what you have learned! Your personality is delighted. Your honesty is fantastic!!! Love your passion, excitement, and enthusiasm for creating with yarn!!! Well Done!!! Thank you for mentioning the Premier Yarns Brand.
You are so kind to do this and provide specifics in a couple of other videos too despite it being a competitive world! Thank you for the genuine encouragement! It gave me the confidence to finally open my Etsy shop (but I am keeping my expectations low). We appreciate all that you do! 😊💓
You are definitely one of my favorite crochet creators! Your patterns and overall aesthetic are just awesome. Do you think someone could see success selling only locally and at markets? I just don't love online sales and markets make me so happy!
Thank you so much for creating content like this! I'm trying to start my own youtube channel about crocheting but I haven't created videos yet. I also really want to start my own business, and I'm hoping if I have a youtube channel that will help my business grow when I start it. But anyways your channel has inspired me so much!!! Thank you Genna!
Love your comments about tracking sales/expenses in advance! It is so hard to catch up all at once if you don't. And 100% crocheting takes time so it is important to do other things besides just crochet and craft ALL day or you will get burnt out.
Love the video! Just a note, in Canada, regulations can flag stores that run sales all the time as inflating the actual value of the price. So I'd start with lower prices and then work up from there.
One way to track your expenses is to open an account that is only used for your business. That way, everything on your statements is only for your business. And it's a lot easier to track that way. And you don't have to remember to enter the purchase into a spreadsheet.
Your videos have been the most helpful for me! Started crocheting this year in February and I fell in love with it. Of course I feel self conscious all the time because I'm a big man (💅) but still something im working on. I'm glad to have these videos to reference and also your plushies and patterns are so good! Thank you for sharing all of this valuable information! 😊🙏❤️
Woohoo! Congratulations! I’m doing the same, it’s so exciting yet scary at the same time to start a new business not knowing how it’s going to go but I love the journey and the adventure! ❤
Wow U have been grown ! The title of this video the editing everything so amazing so happy to you don’t stop ever keep grown 💘 and this so helpful for me I want to open a small business for my own 💛
I realized that giving names to youtube channels and failed small business gave me the experience to think of good names. My current small business is "frutillas de algodón" and I'm planning to translate or even change it to "cotton strawberries" (which is the english translation) once I start selling patterns or anything
I've been crocheting since the pandemic, I've already participated in some art fairs where I was successful and I've always wanted to start a business on etsy or on my own website, but I didn't know where to start and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to, thanks for the tips and for making me want to start doing this even more
Hi Genna! I had a question about premier yarn, I just started crocheting, and really love the look of the yarn! The only issue is I just started crocheting, and I have no clue about the stitch definition with premier yarn, and cannot crochet if the stitches are not easily visible lol! Just wanted to know if it had good stitch definition or bad before I bought some. Thanks a lot!
I'm wondering what's the best way to stock my Etsy store. Should I come up with the products I want to sell and post them, then make them as the orders come in? Or should I make a bunch up front before I list them? Or a mix of both? Would love peoples' input on this--I've found that I really enjoy crocheting in my free time so I'm leaning towards making a bunch of things (earrings, plushes, etc.) up front and then listing them with a certain number of stock.
Thanks for the insight Genna.. you are the most relatable crocheter biz coach that i can relate to cause we’re both working 8-5. I am taking all 10 advices seriously and just start this year. I have a website for my dolls but not for my crochet creations yet. Back in the day I sold great on eBay and also created my own html listings. I am definitely going to watch your video again, - and probably again and again, - to make sure I do "the right things". By the way, I love your videos, and your really positive energy and way of connecting with your audience. I'll be waiting for the next videos...
Thanks for your advice. I have been crocheting for 3 years and storing in bins. I want to sell and I'm to be honest very scared to take that business leap.
This video is super helpful Genna! I really appreciate you summing up all essential tips every new solo art business owners should know! A mix of etsy, social media, website, etc. Would love to learn more tips from you! BTW I have a question, how many days would you recommend doing etsy ads to see the results? What is the minimum budget would you recommend?

Hi Genna! I know it is not related to this video's topic, but could you please make a video about shein yarns, especially the velvet yarns? I have bought them few times now amd I'm very impressed about the quality, however I'm still not a pro, I would to hear your opinion about them. After I applied all discounts I had, I paid around £2.1 each for 100g. I think it is a pretty good deal. Thank you very much! Btw I absolutely LOVE your videos, keep up the good work!
Genna i just found your video and your content was right on point. I am in the process of setting up my etsy shop and have just finished my product pictures and product descriptions and I am ready to get started. Your video was so informative and i just subscribed. Thanks so much for the information . Keep the great content coming.
I crochet since August 2023 and everyone tells me I should try sell my creations, (not patterns, I'm not able to create mine ones) more than ever now that I lost my job and am jobless. So how much experience is needed to make valuable works? How much money is needed to start a good business? I live in Italy and here seems crochet amigurumi isn't so popular, so I'm worried I'll only waste time and money.. Suggestions?
I’m thinking about changing my business name I would love your suggestions! I was also wondering how do I get your patron do I need an app or do I use a website? Thanks Genna for making videos for us I really love your vids, have a wonderful day!❤❤❤
Hey! Is your shop name currently "CrochetUnderTheMoon"? I honestly love that! And you can click the link in the description to view patreon, you dont need an app, its a website
Hello, I've been watching your videos since I learned to crochet last year, and I'm a big fan! By the way, I love your videos, and your really positive energy and way of connecting with your audience. I'll be waiting for the next videos...
I love my vlog very much
Thanks for your advice.
Hi Genna thank you so much for the information it is really helpful and i think you should post more videos more often because your videos are just the best

Thank you Genna 💖 It helps me alot
Hi, I have a question. Should you already add the shipping costs to the plushie or not?
Genna i just found your video and your content was right on point. I am in the process of setting up my etsy shop and have just finished my product pictures and product descriptions and I am ready to get started. Your video was so informative and i just subscribed. Thanks so much for the information . Keep the great content coming.
Awww thank you so much!! Wishing you all the best, you got this!!
Great tips. Thx so much. Planning to launch my crochet business by Fall.
This video is so useful thank you so much cutie!! 🥰
I appreciate that u didn't give up when the camera battery was off three times😂
Thank you for your tips ❤️
Hello, I've been watching your videos since I learned to crochet last year, and I'm a big fan! I'm 14, and I would love to start an Etsy crochet shop, but I have no idea where to find supplies for shipping- where do you find supplies for that kind of thing? How do you find inspiration and figure out how to shape new patterns how you want them to?
How long are your delivery times? You have to chop things first
You’re such an inspiration!
These are really great tips. Thanks for sharing Genna.
So many amazing tips, thank you for sharing 😊😊
I am like 15 and wanna start my own crochet business to. It would be cool to cause i find it fun, i like to watch your videos and stuff when i was getting started with a shop it gonna be on etsy aswell. If you have any tips let me k.
Do you guys have an idea how to expand a small business? I want to accept a lot of orders, but my hand's energy is just finite. I want to hire ppl, but I don't know what to offer them since if I say I want to hire a crocheter, they can be like "I can create a business on my own and earn more"
I have a question, do you have a DBA or an LLC? I’m so stuck on how I wanna go about this with starting my small crochet business.
