Many thanks! Your video fixed the backlash on my 2004 S211 E320. The nut on the 211 is located at at an upwards angle, so much harder to get to. Had to file down the socket a bit. Greetings from Denmark :)
Thank you for this video i have changed inner track rod and outer track rod and the tie rod amd it still rattles. I am going to try this as soon as im home. Thanks you again
I have a bit of left to right play on my passenger wheel. Tie rods are new. Mechanic couldn't do alignment because of it and said there is a bad bushing in the rack. Could tightening that nut help take that small play out?
Thanks for the info. I have a question please. one of the sway bar bushings for my car came with a plastic rounded piece like a nut. what is it used for?
@@autoservice. i do this thing from your video and it give me small difference and maybe the small.differenc reason is my car is classic, its not elegance or avantgard and it cant be smoother like elegance or avantgard w210 if you dont change the steering system to elegance or avantgard. what do you think bro?
@@autoservice. but when i drive the elegance it has more smoother steering than my car.. whats the reason then? also in your video that wheel is smoother than mine.. when i do what you showed in video my steering get smooth but not like your car.. it gave difference but small.
Last week on my 98 honda crv I complained to my mechanic i had a little free play in my steering. He adjusted my steering rack. The next day we discovered a broken tie rod. Now I'm concerned maybe he shouldn't of adjustment the rack since it was a tie rod. Will this adjustment wear out my rack ?
When your internal rack is noisy, you could try this trick, but be very very carefully.. when you thight this nut too much, you could damage your whole steeringwheel construction. When there is a lot of slack in your steeringrack you could hear banging noises when driving on bad road surface.
It puts tension on the sliding rack, with a bushing on the end of the adl. nut that rides on the rack. Too tight will make hard steering and put wear on the housing, too loose will have easy steering but tires can veer off more easily, possibly taking the steering wheel out of your hands. Kind a works like a steering damper. On older vehicles, that bushing on the end of the adj. nut can wear needing a slight adjustment.
@@autoservice. So by screwing this nut/screw, it be pushing toward the gear shaft and press it on worm shaft so that eliminates the off gearing ?? Is that correct ? because I have the same issue in my car.

@@DataKhasaia everything depends on the rack itself, the hydraulic booster.
The socket you are using is not moving the star nut, it's the wrong socket you can see it didn't move?
put on your goggles and check your car
Do you know if a 2007 Toyota Sienna have an adjustment screw for the rack?

@@autoservice. . The wheel fully comes back to center when turning so I don't think he adjusted it too tight . I don't hear any noises or anything.
@@autoservice. .thank you for replying so fast
Could this being slightly loose cause a click from the steering rack area when turning the car at low speed ?
No chances are clicks mean you have a CV joint issue.

What is the function of that nut? Does it make the steering harder or smoother?
check this video, this might give you more info.

Do you need to sleep buddy
😂😂😂
Does loosing nut mess up the alignment of the car
Hi is this works on bmw e60 models?
On the E60 you need to replace the whole yoke assembly. Check BMW F30 Steering rack clunk videos on youtube and you'll understand
Veldig trøtt?
Will my mechanic see I did this if I dont tell him ?
how this rack nut effect steering ?
