Their the most drammatic song. Very well composed representing all the moments. Soft and melodic when she calls for mother and then when she had no reply the dreadful moment comes and music changes to chaotic with the long scream. The story telling is good. Very well done.
The song reminds me of The Dreadful Hours by MDB lyrically. Wish that was a nod to the band, but I suppose that's just a coincidence.

Eugene wrote the lyrics and most of the riffs. His style is recognizable if you listen to the first half of "Pausing Death" for example. Yes, the line about childhood was later inserted by Tatiana into Retrospection, where she gives credit to her parents. "The Prophecy" and "Ape" are also connected. For next Jinjer I suggest something more uplifting and melodic, "I Speak Astronomy" for instance

You know what? I finally know who Tatyana reminds me of. Singing specifically... Teena Marie. Now a lot of you don't know who Teena Marie is, but she is one the great R&B singers of all time. And yes she sounds like her. It's like she's channeling her from the grave. Awesome voice!
I was waiting for your reaction to this song. For me, this is their strongest song. Musically. Lyrically. Absolute balance in guitars and drums. And Tati's vocal... The slow part reminds me of Alice in Chains. Perfect.
This song is about the horrors of child abuse. Eugene wrote it, and he said is about no one in particular, but after it came out many assumed it was Tatiana talking about her life. She tried to set record straight by revisiting the lyrics Childhood of misery, lifelong injury...but in retrospection she added "no that's not for me, all I've ever known is fathers love..."

Supposedly Eugene wrote the lyrics for this song, or at least quite a bit of it. He said that it wasn't about anyone in the band, but a friend of theirs. She put the line in Retrospection before "No that's not for me. What I've always had is father's love and mother's hand."

Not many people react to this song... And Lyrically it is incredibly dark (though thankfully not autobiographical, apparently Eugene wrote the lyrics inspired by the domestic abuse he saw happen to friends when he was young). Musically it's such an awesome song. I don't mind dark lyrics myself, and musically this might be my favourite track off Micro.
Yeah man. This song slipped under the radar when micro dropped last year and....of course while listening to it on headphones I picked up on so much more. So hard to play with that feel, patterns are so dope. This was my favorite one they played at the whiskey. I was the loud MF at the show that yelled when the dropped the first four notes. It was written by Eugene based on a childhood friend. The line from Retrospection "childhood of misery is lifelong injury, no that's not for me..." was to put a nail in that. I'd worried at first too, given her chronic depression and that I've known a few women who had childhoods like Dreadful Moments and adult lives like Pisces.

Yeah, good connection with the line also being in Retrospection. Tatiana said she sprinkled a lot of lyrical easter eggs from Micro into Macro. It was also meant to clear up any confusion because everyone assumes this song is about Tatiana when Eugene the bassist actually wrote the lyrics after being traumatized from seeing a child abused.

Being real: I miss structure in their more recent work. All the bits and pieces sound amazing (especially that transition to the blast beat part), but they throw all these amazing pieces into a bowl of soup and it just comes out all over the place. Just my opinion. Love their older work though.
That's the problem with prog sound - the untrained ears cannot digest the structure and melody at first listen as used to standard intro-chorus-riffs-chorus-bla-bla... This song brings in so heavy emotions with every listen that you are reincarnated in the end. And the live performance is just like an exile!

I really love the intro to this song, but then it kind of goes meh for me.
Neal This is more of a musicians track with all the crazy time signatures. This is very impressive from a musical stand point probably why I absolutely love this track. And I can personally relate to the lyrics like no other so it’s a done deal for me
The one single thing that puts me off with jinjer and other modern bands is how they tune. I'd want to be able to listen to them much more, but their low tuning makes me feel numb, and it has always been like that. The lowest tuning my ears can take without hurting is D, C is already pushing it.
Jinjer has good songs but because of all of this I can't listen to them any often. Luckily through you I can follow the band a little more passively
