@pistonslapuk - Buongiorno 😊 and thank you so much, that really means a lot. A big hello to you too from the Norfolk countryside. Glad to have you here, and I look forward to sharing more with you soon.
So many things came to my mind watching this. It's interesting to get a view of your personal life. I have lived in many different parts of the States, from the very southern part, (Florida) to the very northern part where I am living now (upstate NY) and a few states in the middle. One of those states was Kentucky. I had a cabin out in the wood there that I heated only with wood. The winters there are not as harsh as they are here. All of what you did brought back those memories. I do have a wood burner here, but it is a pellet stove. I fill it with pellets, it lights itself and I don't have to worry about it for about 24 hours. After a few days of burning pellets I take the drawer out and I have a few handfuls of ash. The down side is the pellets are not really sustainable heat. I thought it was when I bought the stove but have since learned that it's not waste wood that makes the pellets but large scale cutting down of forests. I had to laugh at the end. I have to admit my first thought was Cookie Monster, but after I heard what you said, I had to think about it. It's a toss up. lol Enjoy the warmth, would you believe we have yet another winter storm that is supposed to hit here tonight bringing another foot of snow. At least today was sunny and it actually got above 0c today! I'm ready for Spring!
Hi Jim, thank you for sharing your story. It’s amazing how the video brought back memories of your cabin in Kentucky, woodburning has such a timeless charm. I didn’t realise that about pellet stoves; it’s a good reminder to consider sustainability. I laughed at the Cookie Monster reference too 😊 Stay warm through the storm, and let’s hope spring arrives soon!
