I own this exact car. It has given me no problems except a gasket that is in front of motor but was easy to get to and extended warranty covered it. So since it has been a good vehicle,burns no oil,starts right up every time and has never left me stranded I'm going to get the next size up Atlas.Im gonna keep this one though also.VW has earned this first time buyers trust and I'm sure I will be happy with it also.
I have a '14 which is pretty much the same car. I am not sold on the infotainment systems in most cars on the road today and feel that in 3-5 years when some of those systems start to break and owners have to buy new units for lots of $ or lose control of radio/ HVAC/ Nav etc. I think while it is a little dated the car is solid and outside of the annoying MDI cable instead of USB and limited cargo area it is a good car for me. I sacrificed cargo space for maneuvering in tight city parking spaces. The turbo engine has a nice kick to it too and the AWD has never failed me.
You are right...My Chevy infotainment system stopped working on year three. Needed entire replacement. Makes the car like a 2002 once they crap out. Then they are $400+ before repair.

And, If you keep over reving and shifting too late, you will have early engine problems. It will burn oil, etc. You already have some yellow stuff on top of the engine. What happened there? You need to find out where that's coming from. And clean it up!
The VW Tiguan is just soooo dated.
