      There is certainly a learning curve when it comes to the classic games (I still can't really get the keybinds of Tactics down even after mastering the first two games), and some, like myself, overcome it easier than others due to previous exposure to 90s CRPGs and so on, but it ultimately takes patience and remembering that the game has a built in help menu (Press F1 while in game, it's so damn helpful), as well as a downloadable PDF file scanned off the original boxed copy manual, which provides an absolutely absurd amount of information I wish I'd known going into the game.
      Btw, as you'll find in the manual a well, if you do wind up playing FO1 & 2, remember to save, a lot.

    Yeah, you used gifted. Gifted is considered a kind of cheat built into the game. That and the skilled trait is what used in my first playthrough of Fallout 2. You can build a super strong character or just a really good character than can do just about anything in game. I wanted to use guns, so I didn't put my strength that high. I think it was like 6. I played Fallout 2 for the first time in 2003. Later on I bought Fallout 1 and 2 in a double pack off Ebay in 2007. When I played Fallout 1 I did the same thing. Skilled and gifted to make a decent character that can just do everything.

    I'm doing a run on the PlayStation Network (which doesn't have the DLCs) and have almost 100k without trying. I still have two casinos I can get kicked out of, as well.
    The interesting thing about doing a run for a million in NV is that all the casinos have a cap. It's still possible, but it's much more of a grind, I think.

      a significant amount of time without some sort of exploit, as even with all of the casinos busted out and all of the gold bars from dead money you're less than halfway there
      a fast way to make a lot of money is to get high-value items like combat armor and anti-materiel rifles and repairing them with service rifles and medium armor farmed from respawning ncr troopers, but you have to be a fairly high level to get those expensive items to drop

    • @ManiacMageetheG
      @ManiacMageetheG Рік тому

      @@fuckingstupidhandles That's what I thought as well. If you made a melee build and sold your ammo, it could help too. However I can't think of any mechanic like Fallout 4 where you can make a bunch of water, or Fallout 2 where you can just gamble. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like you will have to grind out around a half million caps.

      @@ManiacMageetheG there's some fucky stuff with a couple of vendors selling bugged combat armors that you can buy for a low condition price but the one you get is fully repaired, so that's kind of free money, but i haven't tried abusing it repeatedly, and sometimes it bugs out and your combat armor disappears and/or you don't get anything, so i'm not sure. it'd also be abusing a bug so it wouldn't really be fair

    Seeing as there is no Gambling in Fallout 3 I'm curious how you might go about it in that game. I mean in New Vagas it's gotta be easier, the gambling in the Atomic Wrangler, Vikie and Vance casino, the Sera Madre and of course the Strip are all goldmines with Caravan being viable if you want to do more gambling. But 3 doesn't have any of that, closest thing I can think of to farm money is selling people into slavery with the mesmatron. But no clue how viable that is long term.

    Here's a fun fact: In fallout 1 and presumably 2, you can scam vendors with a high enough barter skill, the higher your barter skill, the more thoroughly you can scam them, and it only works on certain vendors, in fallout 1 the two i know of are Mitch and Vance at the Hub, it is a really boring and slow scam but it is specially helpful if you either don't have a high enough gambling skill or banned yourself from gambling, the scam works because some vendors buy items for less than they sell, for instance for me right now, vance sells stimpaks for 65 caps and buys them for 100, and smart people already figured out how the scam works, basically you need to buy at least as many of said item it needs to purchase that ammount and one more, so for the above example, you buy 2 stimpaks and sell them back to him for 3 stimpaks, then you buy 4 stimpaks for 3, rinse and repeat until he only has 2 stimpaks left, if your barter skill is high enough you can probably buy 2 stimpaks for 1 stimpak, low barter skills will mean the difference between buy and sell is lesser which means you won't be able to fleece as many stims from him, you can also use this strategy to slowly but surely steal his caps which is only limited by the lowest value item you have, this is because you'd be selling him an item for 10 caps and buying it back at 6, the lower the value of the item, the more caps you can have him part with.
    The main downside to all of this is that it's incredibly boring and slow.
