It's not rocket science as you can see, give it a go and you might surprise yourself 👍🙂
You did really good with that. Great job on it.
Superb! I taped mine with clear packing tape, it will NOT rip apart!
Belt and braces 🙂@@davehoward4970
Brilliant. For the price of 1 ready-made wing bag , I can now make multiple bags for several planes.
@@quantomica You're welcome 👍
Brilliant.
I've done this with tape and staples but this is genius.
Thanks cliff.
It won't be long before all my planes are sitting in the hanger with silver wings.
It works well, thanks for commenting 👍
Great tip Cliff thanks. I will certainly give it a go 👍🏻
Excellent Tim 👍
Have been making these wing covers for a couple of years now and are very good. Great video cliff. Will try the covering iron seal soon.Cheers from OZ
Hi Geoff, another bonus is they keep the contents cooler, cheers 🙂👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes especially when I live in a climate that in summer can get to 45 degrees C.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏿
Cheers Morpheus 👍
Excelente!!! Muy buen trabajo.saludos.!!!
@@jorgerostagnol5753 Cheers Jorg 👍
Nice one Cliff. Hopefully you will be all bagged up for our glider day Sunday. I thought that you were living a bit dangerously with a hot iron on your dining table. 🤣
Cheers Rob, yep, should be up there 👍
Very useful, and I'll be trying this myself, but I have to say how this really shows off the beautiful finish on the Mercury. Quality work all round!
Hi Tim thanks the model did deserve a nice finish having been started 40 odd years ago 🙂👍
I've made my own recently using the same material, but using tape and staples for sealing. Melting the foam to itself to join the seams is genius. Well done 👏
Thanks Pat, more than one way to do most things, I wouldn't have thought it possible until I saw the technique with my own eyes 🙂👍
Great idea for wing bags. I was just pricing wing bags. This should help prevent scuffs and such. If Linda saw me using an Iron on Her table I'd be living in the Hangar. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff, just crack on when Linda's out 😁👍
I need to do this for my Filon Champion.
It's a good idea Olly, saves all that hangar rash 👍
Good idea!
Thanks! 👍
Cliff thanks for the video - I had seen wing bags like this before but had no idea how to make them. After watching the video for wing bags my thoughts will be to allow a bit more on the open end (so push the end of the wing in further and not cut so much off). Then do what you did and cut the top piece flush with the edge of the wing to allow the bottom flap to fold over the wing. I will then take the cutoff bit (same width/length as the flap) and trim it to say 1" (25mm - will need to experiment) wide and turn it upside down and seal it to the edge of the flap so the edge of the flap is silver both sides. This will allow me to put velcro dots on the top of the wing bag and the edge of the flap to close the wing bag. I hope this makes sense as I can see it clearly in my mind but putting it in words is more difficult.
That makes perfect sense Ian and a great idea, thanks for explaining 🙂👍
Far superior 👍👍👍
Thanks Nigel 🙂
All I need now is some wings that are worth of a bag! Most of my wings are attached to the fusi. How about rc plane bags next? 😉
The bag would have to be coffin-shape Bob maybe that's tempting fate though 😬👍😁
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Good point. And I don't have any coffin shaped planes.
Good info. This is how I made mine but I used the foil bubble type garage door insulation. Thanx for sharing
Hi Chunky, thanks for watching 👍
That’s really good idea Cliff, might have to try that one, certainly hemp Hangar Rash 😊
You'll have to do it on the dining room table Chris I don't think there's much room in your workshop 😁👍
Brilliant Cliff 👌
Cheers Eric
Great idea, just bought the insulation on eBay. Thanks.
Glad I could help John 👍
Great idea, thanks
You bet!
What a great idea i definatly give it o go
Hi Michael, it's just great to be able to transport components without having to worry all the time 🤔👍
Nice !!
Thanks DW 👍
Perfect and neat solution! Thanks
Thanks Alex 👍
I forgot how ginormous that Mercury is! Worth protecting.
The covering is quite hardy anyway Angus but it also helps to keep it cool 🙂👍
That’s clever. I wonder, at your wing root flap, Could you make a folding crease by running the edge on the iron at a 45 d angle on the inside to melt a thin line of foam to make the crease?
That's an idea Abgus but it would mean a pretty thin line of foil to bend and it's more likely to tear after a short while 🤔👍
Fantastic Ideas!
I tried looking for it on eBay with no luck, can you tell me exactly what to search for? Thank you.
If you search for '3mm Silver Acoustic Underlay - wood or laminate flooring comfort insulation' should find it, cheers 👍
Found it.... thanks so much!
Where can i buy this materiel ?
Hi Ken, if you Google 'laminate flooring underlay 3mm' you'll be spoilt for choice 👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Ordered. TY sir.
