I agree....this is the best leaf tutorial on YT.....because the flat brush does so much...pressure on brush, color variation. Simply done, but elegant!
Thank you so much. May I just say something? Maybe it is only me, but I do find videos without music in the background much better. They calm me down. Your voice and presence and instructions are good and enough. I have to pause to follow your instructions and sometimes I have to slow it down or switch back and for… and music kills me. 😂 maybe there will be a chance just to hear your lovely voice by itself. Thank you very much for your effort here on YT.
I love how you were so polite with your suggestion, some people can be so rude. I must say , I agree that the music is very distracting and in my opinion unnecessary since the content is so great!
I love the music 🎶 hers is perfect ❤ but I completely understand and agree to some extent some videos are so bad where you can only hear the music lol but I thinks hers is perfect I didn’t even notice it till I read your comment lol
so happy I found you! Was looking for loose leaves and florals for background pageswith watercolor ground in my junk journaling. Your designs are perfect for that and your teaching style is wonderful. Thank you. I'll be binging on your videos for sure.
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! As a beginner to watercolor, I have been struggling with adding leaves and stems to my flowers. You really helped me! Thanks!
Beautiful leaves! This is the first of your videos I've ever seen, but I will definitely be coming back to learn more. Thank you for sharing your talent!
This is absolutely beautiful. I wish I could see your brush better. People used to say, just let the brush do the work! You are doing just that. Thank you and God Bless
Wonderful tutorial Crystal! I tried painting along with you! Mine came out a little different but I am happy with the results! Thank you for sharing your talent ❤
Hi Crystal! Love the video! I am finding when doing my loose floral bouquets I am almost panicking when it's time to fill in the leaf foliage lol. I'm trying to get some bleeds and want to be efficient-but I'm often not happy with my final leaf choices or placement. It would be a GREAT idea for a tutorial to focus on just that aspect of creating a loose floral bouquet.
Thanks for sharing Grace! Its very self-aware of you to notice the panic that arises at different parts of the painting. For me, I can't wait for the leaves because I feel like its super ugly and unfinished without them. Don't worry about the bleeds or anything at the moment. Just have fun and play around with all the different angles and placements and what not! Will definitely try and plan another leaves video soon!
Thank you Crystal for your tutorial. I just watched your video on your ten tips to getting started in watercolor. I had just decided that I was not going to be able to learn watercolor from videos, but now I am inspired to give it a try. This video on leaves is especially helpful, I think I can actually do it! Thank you!
You're most welcome! I too did not think I would be able to learn painting from a video. But it's surprisingly not too hard to do! Some teachers have great videos to follow - Jenna Rainey is my favourite. And of course mine arent too bad either :)
Your great!! And thank you for this beautiful tutorial ❤ and also I was going to say the same as you… when I’m watching any video even if they go slow, I still pause it or I watch it a few times before hand too 😊
@@crystaltanart yes I’m in Australia 😊 I do love the round type eucalyptus leaves. They do look beautiful in floral arrangements. I had just a big spray of those down the middle of my Christmas lunch table as decoration and they looked beautiful.
Thanks Susan! Use different greens. Or make up different mixtures of greens by adding other colours to it like dark blue, purple (to darken) or yellow (to lighten). Im sure you can!!!
@@crystaltanart I’ve been doing that but it still looks flat. Better with more greens and blues but yours has such amazing texture. I’ll keep at it and maybe one day it will all click. ☺️
Thank you for this. I’m having trouble getting the “ombré” effect. Where some of the leaf has more pain than the other. Mine are looking solid Any tips?
after you paint a 'solid' leaf, washing your brush to the point that it's ALMOST totally just water and paint the next leaf. And if its too light for your liking you can always drop some paint back in.
Hi Crystal, this is beautiful. I enjoyed learning from you. Will try it. Can you please send the link of the half inch flat brush. I would like to get one. I noticed your link is the one inch and three quarter inch flats.
This is absolutely beautiful. I wish I could see your brush better. People used to say, just let the brush do the work! You are doing just that. Thank you and God Bless

Thank you for your comment and feedback! I will definitely keep this in mind! I have been paying attention to my music and try to not make it so loud.

Funny to hear Eucalyptus leaves are trendy. My yard is full of them lol. I loved this tutorial. Thank you ❤
Really? Are you in australia? There are so many different varieties. But these round ones seem to be really trendy in bouquets!

So lovely. I never use the flat for leaves. I will have a go ! Thanks
You should! It's a great brush for leaves!!
Loved this! But how did you get such beautiful granulation and/or color gradations on the leaves. So lovely and so impossible for me to recreate.

What kind of brush are you using Crystal? The brand I mean. And you said 1/2 inch isn't it? Beautiful work and great lesson❤
It's a 1/2 inch flat brush from Princeton Heritage series. Thank u!
Hi Crystal, this is beautiful. I enjoyed learning from you. Will try it. Can you please send the link of the half inch flat brush. I would like to get one. I noticed your link is the one inch and three quarter inch flats.
This link is for the is a 1/2 inch Princeton Velvettouch which is similar to the one I have Heritage! amzn.to/3Jy8oDA
Great Tutorial
.but i'd wish that i could see your brushstrokes from an sidewise angle abd the mixing process of your colors. Thanx a lot
Thanks for the feedback! yes I didn't have another camera for this tutorial.
Show your palette while painting please
most of the time we can't see how to do it because your hand is hiding your brush. Take a look at 6:43
I realise that Maya. Working on different camera angles and learning how to paint without covering my painting. WIP. Thanks for the feedback.
Boys must be in bed my now.
Its 8am Monday morning here!
Really beautiful video Crystal! And I have that exact brush and use it in almost all of my landscape tutorials 😮😊
@@Tammykaye Thanks Tammy! It's such a hardworking brush for me. I feel like splurging on some new ones. But will hold off for now. :)
I really loved this tutorial, thanks Crystal! The flat brush is so much more versatile than I knew 👏🏻👏🏻 Cheers, Donna @therapeutic_creations
