I remember these from reading the Dark Empire series as a kid! The art style was so grim and stylistic compared to what I was used to with Star Wars. Shadow Droids were scary enough without knowing the secret behind them.
Tying the Dark Empire Shadow Droids into an attempt to copy the Entechment process . . . not something I expected, but interesting considering we know Palpatine had expressed interest in the technology.
The consistent themes of necromancy and the unsettling insights into the cosmological underpinnings of Palpatine's ultimate plans for the galaxy have, after many's the long year, caused me to revisit the old Dark Empire series with fresh eyes. I'm not wild about any number of specific directions that series went, but I appreciate the work that went into this and the several other videos that convinced me to give it a second look. Keep up the good work.
Ah, so you made the models for these fighters/droids, eh? They look phenomenal! Fantastic work, my dude. Thank you for your hard work on a project that doesn't monetarily reward you, but is still beloved by many 1,000's of people. I've always felt that the EAW:X team doesn't get nearly as much recognition and appreciation as they deserve! 😁😁😁
Yeah, entire dark empire comics run, certainly went far out in regards to the horrors and crimes that the reborn empire forces were prepared to commit upon the citizens and planets of the galaxy in order to institute Sidious dream of a truly dark side Sith empire.
The Dark Empire series had so much ridiculously over-the-top tech. Remember the X-1 Viper automatons that were like the best surface combatants ever, and then were never seen again?
Very similar to Cylons in Battlestar Galactica honestly. Burning their personalities out of them was honestly probably better than being in there fully conscious. You'd probably go insane having the body of a machine otherwise. If they had their feelings burned out then at least they would not be able to suffer.
Ghibli Studios gaining ownership of Star Wars would be awesome. At least they know how to do female protagonists RIGHT. I could be wrong, but I think some Ghibli artists did Star Wars Visions
Because while galactic society was fine with cybernetic replacements, ethical heebie jeebies at blurring the line between people and droids? Since we're talking _Legends_ anyway, it's worth pointing out that this wasn't exactly the first time it was attempted by a Sith Lord that had a need for a loyal army and wasn't picky on how he recruited.
@@boobah5643 still had large numbers droids and few cyborgs in the galactic empire why not just put a stormtrooper 🧠 inside a mechanical combat body would benefit the empire military
Same reason Dark trooper MK1 never caught on. It drove the test subject crazy and had to be compensated by either drugging the person up or dominating them with the Darkside. The way the Empire made their Cyborgs somehow screwed people up too much. Clones who where in the Dark Trooper project committed Suicide regularly, maybe they just didn't want to be clankers.

The other droid fighter from Dark Empire is in Lego set 10131. There the "brain" is a red piece in a glass jar. But that is a droid brain.
@ 0:43 - Any time I see that picture, I _ALWAYS_ hear, in that lovely "Sheev" voice, "HUG ME!!!".

I remember the battle of Balmorra basically being one big game of one-upmanship.

It feels kind of like the Ceylon fighters to me.
Nice, the video turned out great (as usual)

With each moment you become more my servant ‼️

So what's the point? if you destroy everything that made an Ace, well an Ace and leave just his brain. At this point just make a droid.
You can't manipulate a droid's mind with the force.
Feel free to question the utility of that, but it's certainly the answer I'd put my money on.

Didn't work on that one Cylon raider though.
The return of Someguy Luke! I missed that joke!
Keep up the great work, Corey. Love the content, as always. 😁😁
Well you know what they say - a brain is a terrible thing to waste.
Yeah, talk about “And I must scream”.
if Studio Ghibli designed for the Sith

Maarek Stele and Baron Soontir Fel would have frowned on this... this bastardry of a martial space art.
Having cyborgs in the galactic empire is interesting. I don’t why it wasn’t on a larger scale?

Their projects were cancelled before they could be implemented on the larger scale because people like Kyle Katarn kept blowing them up.

Who's this Luke Skywalker Dude you sometimes mention?
Is he a big deal in Star Wars or something?
Umak Leth has one of the funniest and cheesiest character designs in Star Wars lol, look at his moustache and his clothes

No, that would be Scorpio.
