      So just wondering about the t outside, do u run it open on the bottom? I have that same set up in my shop but it smokes me out. Maybe that's the ticket for more draft.

    I never knew of the Stove & Fireplace Cement & Mortar. Awesome! I have not done my first burn yet but I just installed the 1269E that was manufactured in June of 2021. I'm not happy with the EPA crap and this is my first stove with that stuff installed. My last boxwood (I still have) had the cover on top which swings open wide. I used a grate in the bottom for air flow. This one says do not use a grate. We shall see how it works. I wish the bureaucrats and politicians would stay out of our lives. Most of these bastards should be hanging by a noose until deceased. I have two choices ahead. If the new 1269E is a pain in the ass to get a decent burn I can put the unit on Craigslist for sale or I can cut out that damn baffle board and have a more direct exhaust. All my lumber is small scrap from a nearby factory. I do not use normal tree wood and I have no problems with fumes (meaning I don't smell anything bad). Again, I shall see if this EPA stove can handle what I burn, but I am skeptical if you haven't noticed by now. D562....Great Video!

    I had bought one of the newer versions of the stove and was not pleased and its performance the stove has to breathe and the BTUs have to be released within the atmosphere in order for that stove to be or to work efficient so I tore out the insulation in the top of it not only is it more efficient but the stove was able to breathe and do a good burn🔥

      Did you leave the board or whatever is on top after you took out the insulation?

    How does the top get hot enough to boil water with that white baffle in it?

    • @bestofftj
      @bestofftj  2 роки тому +3

      The baffle is to retain the heat in the metal so it doesn't go straight out the flue. Water boils everytime we run it.

      @@bestofftj thank you sir. My family uses an old box stove to cook our food. One of those really old ones that has the same shape. We got this one and I'm afraid we're going to have a hard time cooking on it. But from what I understand it works just fine for cooking?

      The baffle does a few things.
      1) reflects heat into box making iron hot (think flames straight up chimney.
      2) from those secondary tubes flames will shoot and curl back above the board 1in below the cooktop.
      3 matinence don't burn wet wood. Close any cleanouts like i have on bottom of outside.

      I used 2 sets of pliers to basically crimp all around making the diameter slightly smaller, worked it in and screwed it.

      Like.... A wall kit and a cheapo hearth pad would have made this at least 50% safer lol. the stove is not MH rated either.

      My wall section / vertical inside/ and outside bottom cap, opened every 2 months and cleaned if necessary.
      Do have plan on secondary aircrete box around model 2.0.
