    Cool. Just what I needed to know: 73mm DUB BB is no spacers on the BB itself, but a 4.5mm one on the crank axle itself on the drive side. This vid clearly earns a thumbs up. 👍

      Thats what the manual says too. But why does it come with only a 2.5 & 10mm spacer. Think 2.5 should be enough?

    • @eddy1406
      @eddy1406 Рік тому +1

      The 2,5 are the inner spacers, the 4,5 a outer spacer that fits the crank arm

    I spent the entire day researching BB, castes and cranks and was going crazy trying to find bottom bracket for 68, then i found this video and stopped freaking out and got furiously angry with myself :D. Excellent video thank you mate!

      Here the same. Half the day already lost, it is very frustrating. Shimano should include a simple manual on paper about those spacers, but they just don't.

    So the spacers are just to make the BB 73mm wide. I guess my bike got some work done at the factory and they made the BB 72mm~ they had one spacer from the factory so I just added one spacer. Should be good. Thanks man

    Thanks for clearing this up! I have a 73mm frame. But I'm going to use 1 spacer on each side of the BBT so in future I can easily remove the cups. Otherwise its just aluminum on aluminum tight, which after struggling with my old bottom bracket is a motherFer to get off lol.

    I have 73 mm, says i need 4.5 but on the outside right side...i think...if i'm reading the sram dub chart correctly, so I'd install without spacers and add the 4.5 to the right side before i install the crank arms right?

    What makes no sense to me, is that on the box the bb comes in, is a check to show what the bb is compatible with. The mt-800 shows that it is only compatible with bsa 73mm. What then, is the purpose of the spacers? It seems that they're making a bb that's only compatible with a certain type of bb shell, why not stick with that, and have a single bb for every type of shell? Seems that it would make it much simpler

    What if you installed a shimano hollowtech II BSA bottom bracket on a 73 mm shell without the per shimano recommended driveside spacer? I had no idea I needed to install the spacer, and everything seems to work fine, but i'm wondering what the function is of that 2.5 mm driveside spacer, or why it is needed? I'm using a shimano SLX M7000 1x11 crank, so no front derailleur or anything like that.

    • @MasterBaetiong
      @MasterBaetiong 2 роки тому +3

      I believe it has something to do with chainline and making sure your derailleur gets to shift as smoothly as possible, especially on the highest gears. I used to have bad shifting performance on my 3 highest gears but when I added another spacer which abides by this guide video, the issue went away.

    • @newttella1043

      I agree with what JP said. Plus, if your chainring(s) have enough clearance from the chain stay AND your rear wheel, then you're fine.

    If you used the DUB on a 73mm and set it up like the boost back on bike with a 148mm rear with 27.5x3" tires would that throw the throw the chainline too far off? looking to gain a little bit of space between the tire and chain.

    Hi,
    I just bought a Sensah/RX groupset. Somitd basically DUB.
    68mm BB, added a spacer each side. Added the other spacer over the axle. When tightening up, not even close to 50nm, the cranks become quite difficult to spin. They don't spin freely at all.
    Do you have any recommendations?
    I also have a wavy washer I've installed on the left side.

      You will require the correct amount of spacers otherwise the crankset won’t be spaced correctly through the BB.

      I'm installing the XTR BB93 bottom bracket with an 11 speed 1x setup on my Santa Cruz Nomad 1 Carbon and having the same issue. It has a 73mm BB shell. The shop where I bought the bottom bracket said to use a single spacer on the drive side as well. I was about to take off the single spacer on the drive side and see if it shifts more smoothly through the whole range of the cassette. Totally understand it's not "correct" but if it cleans up the shifting, maybe it's the right thing to do. Could be something with the frame being made when everything was 10 speed, or that it's full suspension?

      I t will cause noise from your cranks and pedals as the spacers will prevent the crank arm tightening properly to the spindle/ axle.
