I always held a special place for the original until I first heard this one-the bass meter change towards the back end is insane...... now my fave version
For the "drum solo" section of the live performance, Danny had his tablas instructor (Aloke Dutta) up on stage with him.... Danny would start off playing his tabla samples on his electronic pads, then trading off with Aloke playing his acoustic tablas. This was a special and unique version of the song that was only played on tour in 1998.
I was 46 when I saw this show, sitting 1/2 way up on the right, mesmerized. Pushit was the highlight of the evening. The climactic ending is still seared into my brain 23 years later. I even got over the shock of MJK strolling out in drag. An unforgettable performance in a very special amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.
It drives me crazy when people say tool shows are boring. He's probably the most entertaining singer I've ever seen. Especially the 3 times I saw them when they were touring for lateralus. I wish like hell I could've seen them during the undertow period. You could've easily convinced me he wasn't human at that point.
One of your best Tool reactions! That moment around 7:30 where you both (think you) have a minute to breath and get ready for the next way Tool is going to blow your fucking minds ... and then Danny comes in. Thank you for this, for helping me to relive the first time I heard this track so many years ago. The moment at 10;22, fuck. we feel you so hard on this. Like, you think you legit cannot take any more and it is the moment Tool brings you all the way around and back again and you're like "wait. WHAT." And there are still like three minutes left. 12:20 - 13:10 We all thought we were going to lose our shit, too. We might have. And by the end, you think you were prepared, and you knew you should have known otherwise ... now you are just fucking stunned. And it only gets better every damn time.
This is the best tool recording ever! I remember discovering this version back when Napster was still a thing. I felt like I discovered a gold mine. The most beautiful recording I’ve ever heard.
So fucking incredible. It does not matter how many times I hear their tunes or see them live....they ALL JUST GET BETTER with each listen. The anticipation is static if not increasingly dramatic. No other band has EVER consistently drawn out my raw emotion like TooL. So grateful I was alive to enjoy them. But make no mistake...they will be the most talk about, combed over rock band for many years after we are all gone. Greatness.
Rediscovering this song, first time I listened it changed my whole perspective on life. This time now that I'm consciously listening to the musical side I've realised that Justin chancellor is way more of a beast than I thought. He's always been great imo but this song is slayed by him
You guys are awesome. I wanna meet some real down to earth people like yourselves. I'll be 46 in 23 days and finding people like you 2 is very rare. Have a good one and love your T00L journey. I've been to 11 T00L concerts with the first one being in 1995 and the latest one being in 2019 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and they get more amazing every time.
This folks is what an eargasm looks like. I’ve seen hundreds upon hundreds of music reactions, but your response and simple but precise commentary to this chillingly emotional masterpiece ranks it right up near the top for me. Loved it! This performance continually blows my mind.
11:29 when he reacts to the bass dropping to a different note than the original...so good. That shit gives me the feels too, love this video and all your videos. You guys really do a great job on these!
One of the greatest live recordings I have ever heard. This Year they still had it when I saw them in Dallas. Great review. Just no words for the powerful emotion of this song.
I love you guys and everything you do with music reviews I will always watch your tool reviews they are spot on and I’m glad you appreciate the musical masterpiece’s that is tool
I've seriously watched this specific one over and over because his reaction is the closest it gets to how I feel when listening to Tool. It's therapy lol. I love them both ❤️
Thanks for this one as well. Such a brilliant song. No words except that the best Tool song is the last one you listened to. I agree with that statement. 🤘🌀
Love your reactions my lady and I. Our favorites. Im in central ca seen tool 6 times and will see them again or whenever they come round. MY TOP OF ALL TIME. Concert junky 262 shows and counting.
Some of the tabla parts are played by Danny's tabla teacher in this live version. He (the guru) is actually playing a real tabla while Danny is accompanying him with tabla sounds on electronic drums...
T♡♡L melted they face multiple times over 💀I'M DEAD☠️ 🫶🏼😆😅😂🤣🤘🏼 Clayton Kershaw & his wife reactions to T👽👽L is the best. Seeing these vids as a life-long T🛸🛸L army fan makes me so proud. 👏🏼
Typical Tool. Take an amazing song and move it to the next level. Build slowly then punch you in the face. It gives me the chills every time I hear it.
I've listened to this version 100's of times, I still get goosebumps as if it's my first time. This is their holy grail, best song in their discography.
I remember sitting in stunned silence after hearing the studio version the first time when album was first released. And this is after hearing 46 & 2 and Jimmy for the first time. I knew then that I was listening to greatness and that Tool were the new standard for a long time to come.
MAde my comment before the end and then saw the clip with Bill Paxton yelling "It's Game Over man!". Almost spit my coffee all power my screen I laughed so hard. All that was missing was his follow-up line "We're bacon man"
Easily one of, if not the, greatest live song ever fucking recorded.
word...
Easily.
Along with 20 other tool songs
Easily one of, if not the, greatest comments ever fucking typed.
along with Descending Live
Love the studio version, but this one is special. Unbelievable talent and whoever was their sound guy deserves a raise.
They could have recorded this version in the studio and it wouldn't even have been as good. This recording is literal magic.
I always held a special place for the original until I first heard this one-the bass meter change towards the back end is insane...... now my fave version
I’m not sure but I think they’ve had the same guy for a looooooong time.
@@kristofferjonsson7584 I hope so. He obviously rules.
@@justinman114 it sucks you into so many layers 👽🖤🤘
When Adams guitar is wailing Justin is fucking slayyyyyyying the bass
Justin is so very much under appreciated, and yet I think he likes it that way.
@@jason-7956 the deeper you dive into tool you realize how Justin is such a huge part of every song
This one of the best live musical recordings ever put to tape. Haunting.

i saw them that year ....they played it a few times indeed
They played it Halloween 2015 dressed as Led Zeppelin.
Maynard had the Robert Plant look spot on. Specially the hair
Eulogy has to be next, it’s been my go to car stereo song forever

@@Cheesusrice69222 Gives me that nostalgia and chills.
It wasn’t just Danny. It was him and his tabla teacher, with Maynard on the sitar.

I did not know this! Wow!
Finally she got herself a shirt by Tool. I wish I could have seen this version of pushit live. It is so outstanding.
You have finally reached one of the best pieces in Tool's portfolio.
One of my favorite acid trip songs
I put on this, You Lied, No Quarter, Merkaba, and Third Eye from Salival when the boomers are about to kick in and it's blastoff city!!
Late 90s Tool, you would have to say Maynard's vocal prime, this preformance is absolutely spot on
You are blessed to have such a cool wife to listen to music with!!! You guys are great, keep it up!!
Wow, yes. Those don't grow on trees, as I have commented before. So jealous.
Tool is my absolute favorite band ever and my husband's too! We are lucky to have each other
@@RosettaStoned462 Yes, you really are. I congratulate you. Cheers, from Sweden.
Justin's bass playing in this song is probably the most hypnotic thing I've ever listened to in my life.

This is the best tool recording ever! I remember discovering this version back when Napster was still a thing. I felt like I discovered a gold mine. The most beautiful recording I’ve ever heard.
Right next to Moody’s Mood for Love 1953 version by King Pleasure

this performance is seriously too good. cant believe how much they nail it
back when i first heard this.....that line when Maynard says "We'll meet you on the other side"....I LOVE THAT. The delay effect sounds so sick
This one is special, along with Third Eye from Salival
not forgetting "you lied"
And No Quarter, hands down best cover I have ever heard
11:29 That is the bass drop of all bass drops.
I heard this song for over 200 times ,, this is the first time i notice that drop .. damn

I know there are alot of versions of tool songs out there, there all fucking awesome 🤘
TOOL is not human. No human can do this live but TOOL
I was there live Lewiston Maine 98 18 years old man I'd pay anything to go back to that show!!
I saw the emotion at 3:08. That part kills me, too.
I tear up every time I hear this

The tone drop on that bass at 11:29 is a great example of his genius...It's not in the studio recording either!
