This is one of those Tool songs that spark different visuals and recall different feelings and memories for every single one of us. I’m so glad MJK doesn’t ruin our individual experiences by defining it. There’s no better art than this.
TT even though the studio and live versions are the same song they sound completely different. The TOOL army would love a back to back comparison. You guys ROCK. ✌
I STILL, after all these years, can’t make it thru them without the ole waters going all faulty and leaky. Anymore I’m not even sure I make it to the first spoken lyric, before I’m yet again betrayed by my faulty works. Ok maybe that didn’t sound right.. ok for the record, this goes out specifically to the ladies, I DO NOT HAVE FAULTY WORKS! My Works work just fine, better than fine, uh whatever the opposite of faulty ups... ahh Damnit I was just trying to say I was crying in such a way that wasn’t so non-masculine . BACKFIRE
These 2 almost always make me cry. My mom passed in 2011 after a 5 year battle with stage 4 cancer and I found her body when passed. It was the hardest thing ive ever been through and them songs helped with the healing process but still to hard for me to listen too. When the line "Shake you fist at the door saying ive come home now. Fetch me the spirit the son and the father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended, give me my, give me my, give me my wings. I break down almost everytime.
Please react to Schism. I think that song is important during these times of strife. Its about people growing apart because of their breakdown in communication. I think it has a message that the whole world needs to hear right now, especially now. Great reaction as always.
The original Ænima version is (imo) the greatest Tool song because it's the perfect representation of the bands evolution. There are elements of all 5 of their albums in this song alone. Pretty fucking fantastic if you ask me.
9:50 may be ny favourite moment in any Tool song... Adam’s guitar somehow morphs into a violin, Maynard’s vocals soar, and the emotional impact is immense, especially in context of the studio song
tool its the only band that after listening to any of their songs makes me feel like i just heard a masterpice , they just dont make bad or good music , they just make amazing
The live and studio versions of this song definitely approach the topic of this song from different directions. Maynard wasn't joking about looking at it under a different light. And you're right, this song in the most general terms is about being in an abusive relationship. Whether it's between you and yourself is up to you. Whoever you're in the relationship with though, don't let it come to the violence they reach in the end of the song. No literal "claw your fucking throat away", everyone.
Hollywood, Smokey, LOVE THE TOOL GEAR ❤️ much love and respect to you cats! Thank you for sharing your journey with us, and giving us TOOL TUESDAYS to just forget life for a half hour and just enjoy TOOLS greatness 🤘🤘😎
I love when you can see Hollywood's face melt at the crescendo. I saw them play this version back in 2001 at what was Phillips Arena here in ATL. I had a few rolls that I was saving for a rave at the Tabernacle across the street after the show. I was getting a little tired before the show started, so of course I took one. When you said Astral projection took me back to that very moment. Thank you for that. Those were good times. What a face melting experience.
These dudes REALLY REACT to Tool!! I also love the fact they will just share what they thought basically unfiltered about their experience, whether it may be weird and silly at times, They are coming from a real place it seems. Subbing
Parabol/Parabola (as one single song toghether) is the song that has spoken to my souls and elevated it the most ever. I always come back and hold my headphones listening to what he says and brings me an unexplainable sense of peace and warm comfort, as if reminding me that i am not alone.
You guys need to do 1.5 grams of mushroom tea a down it 30 minutes before they go on stage. If that means missing the opening act do it. Chop the mushrooms into tiny pieces then brew some tea. Add the mushrooms after you pour the water into the thermos, add chia tea or whatever you like. Let it all steep for 5 minutes. Pull the tea bag out. Bring the tea with you. You want it to be hot when you finally do drink it. All of this helps the mushrooms hit fast and give you a clean consistent trip without the peaks and valleys. And it doesn’t last too long either. It’s perfect. If you do this and see them live you will find it to be maybe the single greatest experience of your lives.
@TrashTalkers you should be looking into doing one of the many "compound" songs soon. 10,000 Days / Wings for Marie Lipan Conjuring / Lost Keys / Rosetta Stoned Disposition / Reflection / Triad Parabol / Parabola
Someone may have said this already but this is exactly what TOOL is for. It’s a TOOL for introspection, made to make you look inside yourself, open up your mind, and view the world differently. Keep up the good work!
I randomly came across your channel one day a few months ago being a rabid consumer of TOOL and have become big fans of yours. Your reactions are so genuine and honest it brings me back to when I found TOOL in the early 90's. Even though I listen to and play their music all the time tou guys have helped me rediscover that very intense feeling of hearing them for the first time. So awesome keep up your journey.
My dudes, I'm SO HAPPY you guys are on this journey. I've been listening to them for years and finally went to their concert in St Louis with one of my Og's who introduced me to Tool. I bought her ticket and surprised her for a free Tool concert. This band means so much to me and it warms my heart that you're experiencing this too.
Oh my god you guys!! Yes!! Been waiting for this one for a long time, thank you!!!!! You made my whole month😁🙏 I know you guys will get to the original at some point and it's ok.
Almost fell asleep then remembered it’s TOOL Tuesday!!! And my favorite song! Thanks fellas! Both interpretations are correct. That’s the beauty of Tool. It’s your tool for your own life & situation.
Awesome vid as always. The Studia version is WAY different. Both good but yall gotta hear the studio version as well. I'd love to see more reactions off of Æneman, Undertow, and Opiate. Keep up the good work!!
@@BillyBong I'm an atheist and so is Maynard. Doesn't stop Wings 1&2 from being some of the most tragic, beautiful, and cathartic music I've ever heard.
What I love about this version is it never lets you off the hook. It's like you're at the finish but you're not. I think it's brilliant the way they do it live. Same with 3rd eye off of this album. They just don't let you off the hook
that number always changes man.... "ticks and leeches" used to be my favourite tool song, now I hardly listen to it. I save it for certain moods haha "Push it" is a heavy hitter though man, and very deep. I guess depending on the kind of relationships you've had will depend on how you interpret the lyrics. But as for the number 1 Tool song? All of em dude. All of em. They're all masterpieces and they all suit different times and moods and there's not one bad track in the entire catalogue... except the skits... fuck that screaming baby skit lol
I agree with you all that my exact ranking always changes. I'm just saying I made a list and had to put something there. There are about 10 that could probably be number one to me... Oh yeah... and the rest are only a hair behind.
Love that you guys have a tool Tuesday. The greatest live band ever and without a doubt the most unique and amazing bands ever. There lyrics will just transport you to a whole new dimension in your mind
Also patiently waiting for Wings for Marie parts 1 and 2. I’ve been asking for these songs for like 2 months boys. Also that green lantern hat is fly as fuck.
IMO they still aren't quite ready for those yet... First they should listen to Jimmy, then Judith by APC, then they should do Wings 1&2... It's a progression of MJK's experience and makes Wings more impactful and worth the effort.
This was a special rare version of the song that was only played on their 1998 tour.. A special detail on the live song: Danny had his Indian tablas instructor, Aloke Dutta, come on stage to play along side Danny... during the little "drum solo" in the middle of the song, it was Danny trading off with Aloke, back and forth. 🥁
Studio version us way different I really wish you listened to studio version first the reason this song is so great to us Tool fans is because they took one if their greatest songs and reinterpreted it. Now that you heard this version first its going to be way different for you then it was for most of us
Yooooo!!!! I could see on your faces that you both entered a different plane of existence. If I ever find myself back in the ATL, I gotta find you guys and buy you some drinks. Proud to have you both in the Tool Army.
It's the most I saw you two into a song. Whichit's a sign it's really great because you really react sincerely. And sincerity is a very rare comodity these days. About everything, even reactions: most people try to play "a character".
Nice channel, guys! I was a really big Tool fan back in the day. The Lateralus tour was actually my first concert when I was 13. This song was always my favorite, the way it all comes together with an emotionally explosive finish. Anyway, I notice you guys have dipped your toes into Radiohead. I'd love to see you do a reaction video to 'How to Disappear Completely.'
I really hope you guys do both versions in a single reaction. Can’t listen to the alt version without hearing the original first. That said, the salival version might be their best song they’ve ever done. Read the lyrics ahead of time, get familiar with the content so that when you listen, you can shut your eyes and go for the ride.
You guys do it right….’watching your enjoyment’ is the juice. Not stopping it, letting it wash over you, and feeling jealous that you get to experience it for the first time lol
I've never really tried to have a number one TooL song. But its been 25 years and I'm finally going to make this version my #1. This song is hypnotizing no matter hoe many times I hear it. TooL is an experience. You definitely need to hear the studio version because its a game changer.
Follow this up with the original studio version. Make sure to check out Parabol/Parabola (played together), Wings For Marie 1&2 (played together), and Schism.
To me this describes a toxic relationship. Not necessarily physically abusive but psychologically and emotionally abusive. And the battle one wages within when trying to leave.
So powerful... So good... Just speculation, but I think this song was the conceptual bridge between their earlier Undertow -Aenima style and the later Lateralus-Fear Inoculum style... A lot of Tool fans never really cared for the later career as much and vice versa, but this holds both.
It's amazing how this goes from casual singing and subtle instruments and somehow transitions to Maynard screaming and so much happening in the music and that happens without a breakpoint, it just gets there. And yes the studio version is like a completely different song!
Another great review fellas. Fun to watch you guys fall down that rabbit hole with smiles on your faces. A Tool experience is unexplainable. They conjure this zen like euphoria that can both save your soul and tear it apart. Can provide an epiphany while making you question everything you thought you knew. I see it in your faces, your reactions let me experience it again with someone for the first time. Your response is genuine, honest and you allow yourselves to get in the proper head space to transport yourselves to that other dimension. Longtime Tuesday lurker, I finally subscribed. Sorry it took so long. Keep up the good work. And might I suggest for one of the listenings you get yourselves a bottle of Maynard's wine from Caduceus Cellars. It may enhance your experience. Maybe when you listen to the Holy Trinity, which is Disposition/Refection/Triad all in a row. Just a suggestion.
What I love about the Salival version of Push it, is that this was probably recorded sometime in 1998 and it's the first time that the band shows where their music is heading. Definely a lot of Lateralus sounds in the first half. Such an amazing band.
"Parabol/Parabola." Must be listened to at the SAME TIME!
If not, the TOOL ARMY will dishonorably discharge you.
Facts
Yup. Unsubscribed from scribe for that blasphemy
@Velokid93 disagree, on first listen Tool videos are distracting. They are great and unique but they take the focus away from the music
Yes, a must.
100% it's a must

Totally. The original is so angry and resentful. This version feels similar with some anger but almost accepting that is what it is and move on.
I prefer the studio version or the live version with Maynard sitting on the fan, ua-cam.com/video/dS41ost0pM8/v-deo.html
@@ibmasterblaster yup i prefer the original better, uhh more too-ish 😆

This version when I first heard it took me to a whole different level of emotions, this is a true masterpiece and so beautiful ❤️

Been watching you guys for a while. Subscribed. You guys are the GOAT.
Parabol/parabola have to be next guys!
I'm really loving this channel fellas. Definitely subbing.
PARABOLAAAAA
Tool albums are souvenirs from another dimension.
Still waiting for Bottom! I'm gonna keep on keepin on! Believe me guys, you won't regret it.
What I love about the Salival version of Push it, is that this was probably recorded sometime in 1998 and it's the first time that the band shows where their music is heading. Definely a lot of Lateralus sounds in the first half. Such an amazing band.
