I'm not a fan of Harry Potter, but it was still fun to see you and your friends having fun! I really like your subtitles.
9:42 Horseradish dyed green is what is served in England and called wasabi. They are sneaky.
10:57 Wow! Privet Drive *really* looks as if it could be on an English recent build estate. That's good work. I think your feeling of despair comes from the memories of the films.

According to the Potter wiki, students used to be able to arrive at Hogwarts any way they wished. They could fly on broomsticks, apparate, use the Floo, ect.. This ended in 1827, when the then Minister of Magic, Ottaline Gambol, suggested stealing and converting a Muggle steam locomotive to ferry the children back and forth. (see below).
While the reasons why this was necessary are not explained in this article, I believe it was because the Ministry and Hogwarts both saw the need to ensure that students were safe and in no danger while traveling to Hogwarts as well as maintaining the security of the school.
Remember that a lot of people were apparating, sometimes attempting to apparate to close to the school and getting caught by their anti-apparition wards. Others were simply unskilled or insufficently trained in apparition and were jinxing themselves. Those who opted to travel by broom faced a long and uncomfortable journey on a broomstick, and the luggage they had to carry would have made the broomstick very unstable. As for the specific means of transport suggested - Floo Powder - that posed its own set of problems. Leaving aside issues of motion sickness, Floo Powder is not entirely reliable if one is not used to and confident with operating it - take a look at Harry’s unplanned trip to Knockturn Alley at the beginning of the Chamber of Secrets as an example. Even if we assume that all Pure-Bloods and most Half-Bloods could be expected to have experience traveling by Floo Powder, for Muggleborns and Muggle-raised, a Floo Powder trip to Hogwarts would literally be their first attempt at that travel, and they would have little to no easily available instruction. Furthermore, seeing as Harry had to break into Dolores Umbridges office in the Order of the Phoneix to use the Floo to call Sirius, as well as the stringent security wards known to protect the school, we can assume that Hogwart’s Wards block Floo travel to all fireplaces except for those controlled by the teachers. This would create a severe congestion problem, if all the students were expected to arrive through one or two small fireplaces it would quickly become unmanagable. This is also completely ignoring the fact that the Ministry would have to briefly hook up the houses of the Muggleborns attending Hogwarts to the Floo Network for the event, as it is stated in the Goblet of Fire that Muggle households are normally not connected to the network (and therefore presumably cannot be used with Floo Powder).
It is far simpler, safer, and cheaper to give the students a nice, secure place far away from the school (to preserve the secrecy of its location) that can easily or at least realistically be reached by both the Pureblood and Muggleborn families and transport them from there in a nice, comfortable, safety-rated locomotive. This also has the side-benefit of ensuring that the students all arrive at the school at the same, predictable time, allowing the professors to deal with them as a whole rather than reacting piecemeal to each individual arrival throughout the day.

Thank you! I've been waiting for this video! My Southern California high school had 45 minute "periods" every hour for class, lunch, whatever. I love the fact you did the match to arrive at .00000416% of the UK population attended.Hogwarts per 7-year cycle Your Potter knowledge was on point, and your general patter is always a delight. Thank you, Lyssa.

3:00 Lunches in England are like 45 minutes to an hour but it can depend on the school :)
10:55 Houses in England aren't too far off that, depends how the person decorates it, what era they're from, older people would definitely do that 😂
Tour looked like a pretty cool experience! Thanks for taking us with you!

Very late addition- I'd actally say that this house is on the nicer end of the spectrum as it's meant to be in Surrey in the 90's and the Dursleys were a reasonably comfortable family financially, but the decor is pretty old styled even for that time setting which might be why it has a weird vibe. It does look fairly narrow too

Learnt so much from this, thank you! 😄 Such a fun video, exploring the studio through your expert eyes 😁
Oh those lunch times sound normal to me, around 1 hour was my usual uk experience. Not sure how you managed to get enough time to eat and chill with only 20minutes! 😲 Houses too are similar to those, if not a nicer representation of the reality of housing estates, but they do a good job 🙂

I'm definitely late to this party but I really enjoyed this walkthrough :) it looks like such a fun experience! And thank you to Sara for teaching me a new thing about blueberries, I didn't know that their antioxidants provided vision protection (and I'm a health nut).
Also, about the lunch times question, in America we have a problem where the state dictates what and how much curriculum is required in schools, which forces the schools to cut both time and extra curricular programs (think music, art, and theatre programs) in order to meet these requirements. Currently, there are even elementary schools who's schedule has become so tightly packed that they do not provide children with recesses simply because the curriculum requirements are too high. There are people fighting this however, but it needs a larger voice to really make the states listen.

I did both HP house tests, the long "official" one and the shorter less-than-official one and it turned out that I was Ravenclaw according to both.
I found that interesting and can't generally disagree I guess. Fun!

Great Video, i know i'm late to the Party but i have to agree Ravenclaw is the best. My School always had about 20 minutes break but i'm German so i don't know if that really matters.

Hey 👋 I'm moving from the UK to Tsukuba in October for a year. I'm not sure if I'm really ready for how isolated it might feel. You look like you have a cheeky friend group! Any advice on how to meet people in Japan without looking like a creep? Ha thank you! 😅

Perhaps you could be a snowy white owl , but you don't have to deliver mail .. you deliver desire . Or maybe a pheonix in that you bring others back to life, however a pheonix I think perhaps brings themself back to life. Or maybe a thestral in that you have to work to be able to interact with them, but that one is maybe dark. My petronus would be you , perhaps not though..maybe like Godzilla.. maybe not though. Expectodesestrus , promotion of desire .. I created that spell in name perhaps it doesn't work.
The hogwarts express is for security, if Hogwarts had a flunetwork too much then it could be vulnerable to unwantedes.
