@@Hyperlink1337 Well said Sir. Thank you. Next time Joe Bonamassa comes out with a video let's also marvel at how much longer his ---k got since last time.
Yeah, I also do hope they put this crazy dnb x aal mathy sound together at least for one song in the next album. I listened to his "thump!" on repeat for days.
I’m very intrigued by this pedal! For 8 string, this is great for clarity and getting that thump tone. However, I’m wondering if this pedal could be used as like an OD to boost and clean up high gain rhythm tones, if you dimed the Level and clarity knobs while keeping the other knobs low to zero
People in the comments that don't know what a compressor does going "I don't get it what a terrible reveal >:(" people that do know what a compressor does going "bruh......that attack on every note sounds deadly and punches harder than Tyson in his prime."
I'm interested to see how it builds on sound of the Bogner Harlow, especially the new 'smack' control. The Harlow is such a unique and excellent pedal, it's just a shame they're so hard to get hold of.
IMO your style would match well with Alva Noto (solo and collab albums with Ryuichi Sakamoto (rip)) and Frank Bretschneider ("KOMET"). Maybe even CoH (many albums). And clearly Colin Stetson on sax and drummer Tatsuya Yoshida of Ruins (these two and you would be an incredible trio!) And then there's "MaituoGuitar", his channel, he's about 10 years old from China and needs collaborators to help expand his talents on guitar. I'm (extremely) new to your material so I'm just sharing references that seem to make sense to me (Ack! Do you know Supersilent? Good stuff! Pfffff even Nine Inch Nails would make sense! Whoa, almost forgot Ichiro Agata from Melt Banana, that would be a stellar pairing!). Ok, I'm off to listen to all of your albums! 😂
Recommended for Tatsuya Yoshida: "Praha In Spring" from "Symphonica" album; also the album "Refusal Fossil" is a fave as a more raw live recorded album of just him and his bassist. Recommended for Ichiro Agato is the album "Charlie" (fave textures) and "Scratch or Stitch" (the raw-er one).
And while I'm here, a track or album with marching band tuned percussion and horns could be invigorating and breathtaking. Seems like a chellenge you'd take on with a whole world of genres that could be taken on. Maybe even a whole new genre unto itself. Check out "Blimmguass" by Sax Ruins (yes, the same Ruins but wtih saxaphones) over on their Bandcamp. Mari Iijima's "ROSE" album has some Frutiger-Aero stylings that touch upon your more melodic/harmonic musings from what I've heard so far. :)
It's always the same. Just when you think Tosin's tone can't get any cleaner, punchier and hi-fi he comes out with a new album/product and outdoes himself. Pretty soon he's gonna be playing directly into a neural link.
It's a compressor pedal, it's just showcasing how the quiet sounds and the louder sounds get more even volume wise. Thumping is a great example because the technique is a very dynamic sound which has alot of very subtle sounds that don't really come through as well without the compressor bringing them up to level with the louder tambers that come from him thwacking the string with his thumb, while the other fingers are lower in volume, the compressor evens everything out volume wise. You can adjust different parameters to get different responses, like attack and release.
@@canadiancombatwombatthe3rd782 Wouldn't it make more sense to do A/B then? He is right, there is too much going on in this demo. It is just an AD that shows some tech specs in a cool video with some good playing but isn't a decent showcase of what the pedal sounds like and what it does. You've just explained what any other compressor would do no? Like with modern compressors you too "can adjust different parameters to get different responses, like attack and release."
@@VeryStrangeweather don't buy it then I guess Idk, as someone who does use alot of percussivie style, I can tell that this compressor is really nice sounding, has great attack and evens things out and not in a rounding off way that most compressors tend to do. This is an unveiling, so all the sounds have been made using that pedal, the same way they made all the sounds in the Pathos demo come from the pedal. Once people get their hands on it and put reviews out, you can watch the hosts twist knobs and A/B the thing all day long.
@@canadiancombatwombatthe3rd782 I mean yes you "dk" and yes I won't buy it off of this demo. Yes I know I can watch the reviews once they are out.. Like what are you on about ?XD Why are you stating the obvious? The lad above just said that he can't get a clear idea of the pedal from this video and you attacked him for it and your best claim is that you can tell it is good "as someone who does use a lot of precussive style" Huh? How do you even guarantee that the pedal is being used in the video and not just put through a ton of outboard gear (which it sounds like it definitely is to sit in the mix) to make it sound more enhanced? Yes I know it is *just a promo* video. The lad was just saying it is a really busy unveiling which I agree with. At least you got one thing right in your comment. You definitely don't know.
Every time I see Tosin in a new video it looks like he has put on 10kg of muscle since the last time.
That’s how I feel about John Petrucci! 😂
what a truly bizarre observation to make. this is a pedal advertisement, not a thirst trap
@@Hyperlink1337 lol hyperbolic much? Bizarre would be saying "wow his hair is exactly 1/4" longer since his last video!"
You need some serious strength to play all those thumb/tapping parts that clear ;)

INSANE.
PUT THIS ON SPOTIFY...
it would be awesome if the next AAL album sounded exactly like this
Yeah, I also do hope they put this crazy dnb x aal mathy sound together at least for one song in the next album.
I listened to his "thump!" on repeat for days.
And, just like that, "BBC" no longer meant the other thing, and directly referred to "Beautiful Black Compressor" from that day forward.
That dnb switch up was unexpected, and even more appreciated 😉
I really hope this device makes it into your Neural DSP Abasi X update in the future!
It's great idea
If I’m not mistaken the Logos from his plugin is very similar in function to this pedal. And I believe both are based off his Bogner Harlow pedal.
The percussive elements are usually the sound attributed to Tosin, but 00:40 is when you know for sure it's an Abasi piece. I love the whole thing!
Some of the best product photos and videos in the game, amazing stuff
2:44 so sick!

The man has transcended far betond this realm wtf.
The idea sounds like Bogner Harlow but with his own twist. I like it.
What a tone!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 sick track!! 🔥

Tosin + drum and bass? Um yes, more please!?

Will this make me good at guitar?
Can this pedal take bass guitar well? Line level synths? A dual band comp in pedal format is mighty appetizing

This name is craaazy bahaha

Is this for Bass or Guitar? Would kill a guitar amp?
jungle legend
That knob looks a little too close to the foot switch for my fat feet. Looks and sounds great though!
So the Bogner was no good anymore?
Whoopi Goldberg shreddin'
About as much as Tim Henson is Lucy Liu shredding 🤡
Another compressor i will buy sooner or later, my purse doesn't like this.
I couldn't even understand what the pedal does or what it sounds like.
jesus christ. I wonder how it would sound used to boost the front end of a high gain amp.
when cheaper import guitar pls
Dude that thumb it’s just so disturbing. It’s almost a right angle 😂 sick demo
Bro wanted his own bogner harlow and got it done too. What a legend
Mmmm ok it offer the great and very sought after ability to transform any guitar into a very fast hit hat cymbal and cardboard drum… ok.😂

strange decision to obscure so much of what the guitar sounds like while trying to show off the pedal lol..
