Crystal was a strong courageous person . She finally had enough of the racism in the gay/ drag community. There was a Bias against Black and latino Drag queens, these events were run by white queens. Crystal later started her own Ball for Black and Latin Queens. She also Founded the House of LaBeija in 1977. Crystal was a strong black queen. Her House is a Legendary house, still going strong today. She died in 1982 of Liver Failure.
How many of these houses are still in existence? It would be a riot to have all these houses ranked like Drow Houses in Dungeons & Dragons and see them all tear each other to pieces to be the First House.
PungiFungi LaBeija, Ninja, and Xtravaganza all exist as of 2020. Those are the three that I remember from Paris is Burning. Ball/ drag houses exist all over the world at this point.
