i got mine almost 2 years ago..and just love it..got the footswitch recently too...but gotta figure out still how to assign other sounds to the extra beat button overall...a fantastic product..love it..cannot play without it..
Personally, I've never been a fan of drum machines but I understand that its not practical to have live drums for most venues or gigs. This looks like a pretty good solution, simple and intelligent operation and not too big.
I just watched the interview with him on soft white underbelly and what a story. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons. I’m here to check out and possibly buy this product!
"... It's like having a drummer, you kick him and he does whatever you want... and nothing is more fun than that...". Priceless !!! hahaha Thanks for a great product.
Thanks for the demo. I am glad I was sick and didn't pull the trigger on Black Friday for the Beat Buddy Mini. Your voice compression on the video was just a little annoying, but I was able to get by that and your demo of the devices answered all of my questions. THANK YOU. 🤬 Now I have to spend over twice what I was going to pay and buy the big brother version of the peddle. I would hate myself for going the cheaper route and I do look forward to producing some great music with it before I die. 😂
I use the Beatbuddy Mini and it has the same problems as the Beatbuddy with regard to live performance. In a live situation it is important to change the drum genre and tempo quickly. This isn’t possible with these pedals unless you bend down and adjust them between songs. Another problem, when playing rhythm guitar as I do, is that double pressing to end is very awkward for many songs. I’ve modified my Beatbuddy Mini to insert another pedal, not in the pedal socket supplied, which emulates the button on the pedal. This means I have my pedal on a stand where I can adjust it standing upright and conversing with the audience but a can still operate the pedal with my foot. This still doesn’t address the double press to end though. I now have another socket to add another single pedal with some simple electronics that emulate a double tap of the pedal. It requires a battery and I have fitted a rechargeable battery. This has solved my problems. It would be really super if you could come up with something similar in both your pedals just for us live musicians. Thank you.
I know it's not always optimal, but it sounds like you can solve those issues with a midi pedal. More gear to carry, but many more possibilities using MIDI along with the peddle. For recording, as well. And 24 bit drums! I'm pretty much sold on the Beat Buddy big boy. (Sorry, wifey, but you married a musician for better or for worse.)
it seem like a really good product, nicely put together, and will come really handy when your drummer just found god and decided to leave the band including the drum.
David: really great product. Have you noticed every demo of your product has people using their hands on those grotty foot switches? Hummm… Beat Buddy Studio. Just change the form factor to desktop for those of us (recording studios, etc) that don't want this thing on the floor. Switches become pads. No R&D, that's it, just change the package. You could go crazy and break out the MIDI to individual IN/OUT/THROUGH jacks.
In the market for a beat machine. It's between the BeatBuddy and the Trio +. If you guys had a looper on this, I'd get two. It sounds great. I recently purchased a Zoom GX3 and it only has a 40 second loop time which is ridiculously short. Need more time to learn from my many mistakes. Hahaha. Good luck, David. Great tutorial as well.
If you took all the best bits of each looper and combined it with a beat buddy you would have another great seller ...all the loopers presently excell at one thing or another but they also fail at one thing or another also.
@ 10:03 -10:25 talks about the Metronome. The green blinking LED above the display does not blink in-sync with the metronome bar that moves across the display.
you need a separate amp for that? Example if it is on a pedal chain it will be affected by the overdrive or the delay pedal etc. Not sure where this would go in a pedal chain?
Hi, Stephen. If you were going to run the pedal in-line with other effects, I would put the BeatBuddy last. That way it isn’t getting affected by the other pedals in the chain. Thanks for your interest! Charlie Davis, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1320, charlie_davis@sweetwater.com
I can't figure out how to put my newly purchased downloaded beats into the SD card and have it show up on the interface of the pedal. I'm using a regular Toshiba PC. Am I missing a step?. Anyone..... Help me.
If you add the MIDI Maestro, would the footswitch still be useful? I bought a beat buddy & footswitch from Sweetwater and really want to get the Aeros looper & Midi Maestro. Just wondering if the foot pedal would still be useful. Thanks!!
If you are thinking of live performance in semi-loud situations the additional footswitch is fine. However, be warned, the switches make an awful noise. I would not take them into the studio for recording. Their tech man checked out my video and said that the level of noise was 'normal' for them. You can hear the clunk of the switch as well as the squeak of the spring, all amplified by the enclosure.
Hi, thanks for your interest! No, the BeatBuddy doesn’t have the ability to isolate specific parts of a recorded track. It’s really designed to be a practice and/or performance tool for guitarists needing a drum machine. I’m not aware of any pedal that has the functionality you’re describing, but AI algorithms in software are getting quite good at “unmixing” recorded music - you might check out iZotope Ozone for a great example of this: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Ozone11St--izotope-ozone-11-standard-mastering-software-suite I hope this helps a bit - feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, and thanks again!
