Ah, but there is NO "political Islam". NO 'moderate' Islam. There is only Islam.
With all due respect, when Ali states; "I think in the end it's going to be Muslim leaders who are going to have to sort this out".
She indicates a failure to get to the heart of the issue. It's NOT the conduct of the Prophet Muhammad that justifies the murderous actions of the jihadists. It IS the 'sacred' Qur'an that justifies the murderous actions of the jihadists.
Specifically, it is Muhammad's consistently repeated claim that he was NOT the author of the Qur'an, That ALLAH is the author of the Qur'an. Muhammad stated the he simply wrote down Allah's words, spoken to Muhammad during repeated visits by the Archangel Gabriel. Angels are incapable of error, so Gabriel's words were a perfect transmission of Allah's 'directions' for mankind. Which means the jihadists hold the theological high ground.
Fallible mankind is literally incapable of correcting/revising infallible Allah's words. So, in order to revise the Qur'an, Muhammad's claim that the Qur'an are the direct words of Allah... Must be rejected. Yet that would implicitly declare that Muhammad was either a liar or deluded. In either case, Islam's theological foundations collapse. And that is WHY Islam cannot be internally reformed. It can only be allowed to 'die on the vine'. But Islamic jihad can be deterred. You deter a mortal enemy by attaching to their aggression, the certainty of what for them is intolerable consequence for their aggressions. In the sacred Qur'an, Allah has declared that a Muslim who at the time of their death is in an 'unclean' state can never enter paradise. ANY contact with ANY part of a pig renders a Muslim instantly unclean, which is why they freak out when inadvertently served pork. Pig fat can be rendered and incorporated into gun oil. Any jihadist shot with a bullet from such a gun would be instantly rendered unclean. It takes a special cleansing ritual to restore cleanliness to an unclean Muslim. So a jihadist killed in such a manner is permanently denied entrance into Paradise. Wounded and captured jihadists should be given a quick military trial and upon conviction, immediately executed in an unclean manner. Upload video of the executions for Islamist's 'edification'. So, by their own beliefs, they now risk intolerable consequence. NO virgins for them... Recruitment will plummet because now, a potential jihadist will risk being permanent barred from 'paradise'.
Finally, declare that the day that Islamic jihadists conduct a nuclear terrorist attack upon the West, which by the way includes Israel... is the day that Mecca ceases to exist.
You don't bring a knife to a gunfight and when faced with a mortal enemy, utterly committed to your destruction... you take off the gloves and fight by the rules they are operating under. In those conditions, it is suicidal to do anything else. Speaking of suicidal, 'Hijah' i.e. migratory jihad is a mortal threat to the West. Deal with it or else it will deal with your descendents. "One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere to go to the Northern Hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory." President Houari Boumediene, in a 1974 speech to the United Nations.
As for Marxist woke ideology, it is not just incompatible with traditional classical liberal Western values, it is inherently antithetical to them. Anyone in the West who supports Marxist woke ideology has essentially declared themselves to be a domestic enemy of the Constitution. Loss of citizenship and mandatory deportation are the natural consequence of that degree of antipathy.
It’s the book, i.e. the Quran; and it is, the life of the man, how Mohammed conducted himself that is to be emulated.

In the decades when Jasmine Mohammed wasn’t saved from her abusers by Canadian authorities. It was because Canadians were waking up to the centuries of inherent racism in their treatment of the Indigenous population that had different values. They wanted to become less racist and tolerant of the various cultures in Canada, both old and new.
They wanted to change. But in trying to welcome and coexist with more recent immigrants to Canada who brought along their values. Canadian authorities forgot what Canadian human rights are and how to apply our laws to support these values. This is still a problem and Canadian culture is changing for both better and worse. The solution must involve sex ed. Where the horrors of genital mutilation, sex slavery, and the murder of homosexuals are explained to kids.

Middle East is entirely dependent on West for technology and weapons.
So it is a win-win situation for both. There have always been leftovers of Muslim Arabic culture in Latin America that were communicated through Spain which, though militantly Christian at the time of empire and conquest, had absorbed many aesthetic and cultural aspects of Islam.
