Thank you for your lovely comment! This is the first kitchen where I've had so many things out on shelving. I thought they would get dusty, but because they are things I use, they end up getting a wash before dust gathers.
Your antique blanket chest is beautiful, the way you lined it is very respectful of its age. Always nice to see what you have been working on. Have a lovely week
Thank you for giving us another beautiful video. Love the copper firebox! Inspired!! And the added extra touch of the lavender inside the coffer - one of my favourite things. Can't wait for your next video ❤
Your plants flourish in your damp English soil. Here in Virginia we are having our typical autumn dry spell & I have to water. Your garden is so lovely!
I've lived through drought situations, so I know how sad it is to look out the window and see the garden suffering. Hopefully, you'll get rain soon. My fingers are crossed for you!
I'm glad you like them! I have been trying out a few longer videos with a mix of things to see if people are interested. It's great to have feedback as I was worried they were too long. Thank you!
@@BoundaryRoad never 😀 but I realize you need content that jives with your life I love anything garden; I also found I love watching you sew, make curtains; and of course your talented home improvement projects. I would love to learn more about your city, living in Scotland, and the history of your house. I enjoyed your get aways and especially your stay at the estate. But most of all I love the way you slowly unfold your content. So maybe not longer videos now that I know more will be coming. When I discovered your first video and fell in love I was worried that it was a one off. Now I can relax and wait for more - long or short! Thank you.
Oh my, thank you! I have 2 antique chests, lined with a open loose cotton sheet. I will make this, and a piece to cover in the end, because when they are full to the top, it will protect the linen inside from the lid wood. Right now, I cover everything with the extra sheet fabric that hangs from the inside. Love the fireplace color! Much love from Portugal ❤
I hadn't thought of the top! I was surprised how little space our spare linen took up, but I will make sure I keep some of the wallpaper aside if it gets to the point of being full and touching the inside lid.
Bonjour Claire.
What a lovely day. Such careful and loving touches to all your treasured places and possessions. I love to see you puttering in your beautiful garden and baking in your cozy kitchen. Humphrey is a dear, sweet boy. Your camera work is wonderful. Your life is so different from mine. I am in a different continent, different climate, modern third-floor walk up apartment, no garden, no pets, very minimal possessions. I don’t live like you but I absolutely love and respect what you show us.
Thank you for your beautiful comment and compliments. I like to watch people who have very different lives from me too. I hanker after a cabin in the woods ;-)
I've always used the term ' to fill up the coffers' but didn't realize it was an actual name of a piece of furniture ! Thanks for that little gem of information! Another great video , thank you.
Similar to you, I feel I've heard the term more than seen the piece of furniture. I always imagined a 'carry-on' size that was full of gold. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos - thank you!
Training ourselves to ignore what needs to be done and to just enjoy the moment is a very tough process. :) beautiful place, you are blessed. All the hard work you have done is rewarded with the peaceful moments of enjoying the beauty around you. Thanks for bringing me along on the journey.
I agree, tough! I'm improving in that aspect though...reminding myself that creating a home takes time. I'm happy to hear you enjoy seeing the progress.
Your work is quiet, thoughtful and the results are always a little treasure to behold. Your antique find is very charming. In my little bedroom that is in work right now, an old french linnen chest sits to be moved in the hallway later on. The wood I chose for the bedroom furniture is mahogany and hence a bit more "bourgois", but I love the colour so much, it brings warmth. All my finds are of what is your victorian period, mid 19th. As are my treasured family pictures I brought from Germany. Renovation and decoration are long periods of waiting with me, the budget is tight. But what a joy when it all comes together and I feel cozy. Your garden views are so appeasing and colourful. Enjoy the time out there!
Thank you for your comment sharing your own work. I love mahogany furniture. I've been keeping an eye out for some we would like to use in another bedroom we will be working on next year. Good luck with your work!
I eagerly await your fabulous videos. What a beautiful job you did of lining the blanket box. So much patience and skill. Would love to make the GF scones but couldn't find the recipe in the description box? 😊
I'm sorry. I forgot to add it to the description. It is there now. I hope you enjoy them. Thank you for your kind words and for reminding me. Enjoy your weekend!
I always spray old furniture as bed bugs and carpet beetles can hide in the corners and cracks and you don’t want those. You may see carpet beetles on the window ledges, teeny tiny almost furry bee like fur striped looking creatures, smaller than a pin head and younger ones dark brown minuscule dots smaller than a quarter of a grain of rice, they eat natural fibres, such as cotton and linen and of course wool, hence the name woolley bears! Also check for woodworm in old wooden furniture and get it treated as it can spread through all your floors, beams, supports etc, don’t forget underneath furniture, this too needs treating, just in case! You can get papers that are impregnated with insect killer, they are called carpet beetle killer strips, but they have suddenly shot up in price, get moth killer strips instead, same impregnated paper strips as the carpet beetle strips but much less cost, about £5.00 for 20, I put them between linens and cotton fabrics, again, just in case. We had these insects in a house we moved into, they don’t like the polyester fabrics but they do love their natural fibres to munch into.
Hello, and thank you for sharing your knowledge. My antique dealer treated the unit, but I also did another treatment myself. That saying, 'You can never be too careful!' comes to mind. The oil drops I added to the dried lavender is a moth-repellent oil, but you've made me think I should put some closer to my fabric, so I'll get on to that. 🤗
Probably not as it's the first room on our heating system so it's the hottest room in our house and we're usually trying to work out how to cool the room down. I'm happy to have found it though.
What peace and joy your videos bring me! Each item in your kitchen is a treasure! You are a lady of many talents!

I'm so glad you liked it! I opened the coffer today and I could smell the lavender. It's nice to spend time on the little things too 😊
Beautifully folded linens! I love the fireplace. I always look forward to seeing your vlogs. So peaceful. Thank you!
I'm glad you like the videos - thank you! I thought the linens would take up more room, but they didn't even fill it by half. Have a good weekend!
Te he descubierto hoy!!!
