CONGRATULATIONS RICHARD! I Watched My Mother Drink Herself Into, "ALCOHOL INDUCED ALZHEIMER'S" Something I had NEVER Heard Of. I Was Raising My Baby Sister, Who Was 9yrs Younger Than Me & Lived At My House, So I Knew She Was Safe! I'm Glad You Went The Direction She REFUSED To!
I always wondered why I liked Maurice stage presence so much, was it his smile, or his hat wearing style? Now I know, he had a beautiful soul. The Bee Gees gave us so much. RIP Maurice, RIP Robin.
I'm so glad that Maurice and his family had their happiness before his passing. I noticed that Maurice's son has a smile just like Andy's. How sad for Andy that he didn't grasp what Maurice tried to tell him about A's drug use and his impending losses. With John Lennon giving 17 year old Maurice that first drink, I can't help but remember how Lennon had a knack for tarnishing the best around him. Maurice, I know you're resting in peace. You had your Purgatory here on Earth.
Maurice was the coolest of the Bee Gees. He was so honest in his confession about his problem with drinking. Gone to soon. Rest in Peace! Best hat wearer ever!
I first came across this about 6-7 years ago when I was coming off prescription drugs after 28 years I decided something had to change. I had a bit of a rough time but I’m proud to say I exceeded all expectations & I never looked back. On one of my hospital visits I found this & every time when I’m feeling crappy & in pain, I come back & watch this.
Agree, he was so honest, admitting the problem was with himself no-one else, the verbal abuse etc. I myself don’t drink (through choice) but I have never seen a ‘happy’ addict, be it drugs or drink. I’m so glad that he squared himself up and had a happy home life in the end.
Maurice is the person who helped me to go to rehab and change my life for the better. Although he's gone I still watch this interview from time to time to boost myself up. Thank you Mo for your inner light . RIP love you .
I have never heard alcoholism explained so clearly. Everyone who has this problem in their family or the alcoholic should watch this. Thank you Maurice Gibb.
So honest and sincere. Especially when it came to friends. I will send this to anyone in need of help. Such a talent. It so hurts. I was in a daze the day he passed. Yvonne, Samantha and Adam have his talent too. I am so hurting for them. Amazing person❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹🌟🌟🌟

Doesn’t matter if it was recorded 25-30 years ago, every single thing that Maurice talks about is still very relevant today. His family can be so proud of him 🥰
So inspiring to listen to Maurice admitting his problems and going on to treatment, not just for himself, but for his wife and kids. RIP Maurice. A real gentleman.

Yes. Mo really rocked those trade-mark hat's! The one fedora hat he wore so much was given to Robin when he passed. Robin placed it in sight on his mantle, from an article I read quite a while back. Robin was always my favorite of the Brothers but who can't help but love sweet Mo? And I'm so glad he was born a twin to Robin, to walk thru life with him. (But poor Robin almost lost his mind with the death of his twin.💔)
I respect Maurice so much for this, just being so honest and explaining everything so openly and clearly. It shows a very human side and I feel like this could be helpful for people struggling with Alcoholism.
His testimony is so inspiring. He recovered in a time when it wasn't fashionable to share your alcoholism with the world. I'm so proud of him for sharing this part of his life with others. As a recovering addict going on 10 years now, I know "Our secrets keep us sick". Props to Maurice and his family for supporting him.

RIP Mo, du war’s große artig. ❤️🙏🌹 Bee Gees produzierte zeitlose Musik somit für immer und ewig. Danke Jungs
As an alcoholic in recovery, I certainly appreciate the honesty and acceptance that Maurice had as he dealt with alcoholism. Doing the interview and "giving it away to keep it" has certainly helped many, and now, me as well. This disease does not discriminate - it cares not whether its victim is famous or obscure, wealthy or poor, black, white, male, female, young, old.... In the end, while he had a great career as a musician, I'm betting that he was most proud and grateful for getting his life and family back.
My heart too , From the first moment I saw him . That first instant was so long ago, I was still a child. If anything has changed in all that time, it's my ever-growing admiration.
This made me cry. I am so sorry this beautiful, loving soul has been taken from his family and all the rest of us. And to think Robin had nearly the same thing happen to him. The Bee Gee's have always had a special place in my heart. RIP sweet Maurice and Robin.
How many famous people in this day and age would admit to even 1% of what this man is making public? Major props to him for airing his dirty laundry, admitting he has issues and being man enough to confront them and change himself!
I never knew of his alcoholism! Maybe because I was deep in my own misery of addiction. Even though he has gone he just gave me a gift that keeps me going in my own Recovery! Thank you Maurice. RIP 4 1/2 years for myself!
Maurice left us too soon. The Bee Gees are an inspiración for our lives. My favourite was Maurice, bit I love them'll.I CRied for him....RIP Mau.The mourning of his family is our too.Love you Bee Gees..
What a brutally honest interview by Maurice. He bared his soul completely, in hopes that he can help others in the same boat. He was so fortunate to be married to Yvonne. She was so patient and tolerant, despite all the pain, suffering, and fear she and the kids went through with Maurice's alcoholic addiction. I am so happy he was able to control it, renewed his vows, and became a good, loving, and devoted father and husband. It is unfortunate he didn't live long enough to spend more time with his family after being sober.
The nearest thing you can get to a Bee Gee's concert is a fantastic tribute band called Jive Talking go to their web page for gig dates they work most weekends and tour from Inverness to Devon and Cornwall and all points in between
I know I never really realised how good the beegees was, my family knew maurice personally as his wife was from around where I live, they all praised him. I now see his wifes brother oftenly, not so much his wife as she lives in America
eleanor gordon Oh my dear friend I so wish I could give you a taste of what the experience was seeing them in concert. I saw them in concert in 1979 and I can close my eyes and feel like I’m there as if it was yesterday.. I absolutely was on cloud nine and in heaven the whole night. I thank God every day I was able to have that experience. May you always enjoy the music and when you are listening to their beautiful harmonies..close your eyes as if you were there.
@@maryrevis3367 That's how I imagined it would be. Thanks for sharing. Memories for your lifetime. I become engrossed just watching their live performances. They ooze charisma, especially Maurice.
Hey buddy..that's crazy talk..just look how far down Mo was!... but he sought help..stayed the course..and re-claimed his life!...can see you truly admire these wonderful brothers...and that alone shows great taste and character!
bbodinefan11 Hey...just wanted to give you a 'shout-out'.. coz I haven't seen any new posts from you in quite a while now ... used to converse now and then about Robins voice, as we're both huge fans of his.....so just kinda wondering how you're doing there?....Happy New Year!........Keep the faith man!
Thanks and Happy New Year to you as well. Yeah I love Robin Gibb my all time fav. I'm trying to keep the faith to be around for my kids. I have a 9 and a 5 year old.
I will never stop missing this man.. a warm, wonderful, super talented human being...its feels its like only just yesterday that I heard that he died...i remember exactly where I was..in my living room...whooh...
As I'm a HUGE fan of Maurice's, I'm pretty sure I would've fallen off the boat if I were Lynn Redgrave and saw him waiting there on the dock. RIP to a marvelous and talented man.
Thank God he broke free of this prison before he died so his family could have their Father, husband, brother and best friend back, again. Truly a gift from God.
Was the alcoholism a gift from god too? Seems a bit mean, creating a problem only to then claim credit for fixing it... But I guess god never has to take responsibility for the bad stuff, that's always "the devil" or "free will". The good stuff never is somehow...
@@kisbear89 Yes they were. And yes it's sad. I feel so bad for Barry, it's not right being the oldest brother and outliving all your baby siblings. I just want Mo to get the credit for beating his alcoholism, because it's he who did that, no one else. I saw a docu once where he had nick names for all of them according to their respective favourite poisons "pilly, potty and pissy". So irreverent. Lovely guys
@@annnee6818 Ann, go open a Bible. Adam and Eve had free will and they made the decision to eat from the one tree that God had told them to not partake of it's fruit. Adam and Eve chose to follow the Serpent's suggestion to eat this fruit. The Serpent told them that they would be as wise as God. So, Adam and Eve did eat the fruit from that one tree. From that moment, man became fallen from God due to disobedience. Hence, man has been fallen since then. Every decision we make is ours. We can choose right or wrong. God gave us free will. If you choose Jesus as your saviour, it's your decision. Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected for all of our sins. But, first we must choose Jesus as our saviour.
@@brendairwin257 I know age plays a huge part and Barry got to be the oldest but from being the most handsome of the three he became the least good looking. Maurice DEFINITELY came into his own to be the best looking brother.
He was right some people hang around you for the wrong reason Users.as long as you are buying they hang around. Once you say I'm tired of this I'm quitting they leave they were not friends.once you cut them loose. Your life will be better.🙂naturally n.a.jj.
That rings total Honesty - I mean how many of my "friends" who I knew that were drinking/drugging actually SHOW UP on visitation day wishing me well in recovery? ZERO...and by the way 32 years later (now) they're all dead... Friends I have now, from treatment - many are still around thru good & bad times (what most of us know as LIFE)...
@@rgoob4045 So it seems rehab gives you the proper outlook on life. That's wonderful. Life lessons learnt the hard way. I'm glad you overcame your addiction. Where I used to live I had a ton of friends, until I quit drinking. They are 'good time' friends and not worth having.
This is beautiful that he got well and he was such a good person but so hard to watch since he's gone. His family must miss him terribly. So very sad. It's been years now but still. What a great human being.
I smoked weed for nearly 40 years. I stopped instantly when I begged God for help. Threw away everything and have not had a single craving since. Been 2 years now and I know I won't ever smoke again. Thank you Jesus.
Maurice was always my crush of the group . He seemed to be so much fun ,even after sobriety . I remember being in bed on a lazy day ,listening to the radio ,and it said Maurice had passed . I cried for weeks . Now it seems from media that Barry will soon join his precious brothers. Again ,I’ve cried for days ,as a 66 year old woman . There never has ,nor will there ever be ANYTHING like The Bee Gees 💔
Thank you Maurice for having the courage and honesty to share your darkest moment with all of us. God bless you and your brothers. What a wonderful inspiration. RIP
The work he’s done in the service to others in recovery, publicly sharing his disease & the process involved in recovery - this is the biggest impact he left behind as a legacy...I have been an a devoted fan of The Bee Gees my whole life - and I’m a recovering alcoholic with almost 7 years - the music has & will continue bring joy for many many for generations, but his honesty & public openness has & will continue to actually be a contributing factor in countless saved lives.
His story changed my way of battling my own food and weight obsession and i have been sober since 1993 and i wish he were still here with his family and may he rest in peace
Sad thing about it is, alcohol can be totally abstained from so as to not partake in that which destroys you. But not food. You have to have food to survive. Just think if alcoholics had to have just a glass or two a day to survive but no more. No one would survive alcoholism.
Oh I was so extremely impressed by this OH so clear and honest interview by my very favourite Bee Gee bro...his clarity and easy going super intelligence reached way down into my heart...I'm watching for the 30th time! I'm so in love with him now... FOREVER Bee Gees.# Forever Maurice!... our Marvelous Mo! Missing him more...
It must been hard to turn away to teach him a lesson especially Robin being his twin had be hard. But maurice learned his family was more important than drinking.in that case love did save him his family had show tough love but it worked.mo will always be loved. We miss him. N.a.jj.
Man In Magenta Wig oh WOW I just finally watched this entire interview. So wonderful and yet so heartbreaking that we don’t have this beautiful soul anymore. It’s so unfair THANK YOU for posting this- god bless
Dear maurices Gibb. En Robin Gibb.i mis you zo match. Maar in mijn hart leven jullie voort. For ever end ever. I LOVE YOU ZO MUTCH. RUST IN PEACH. Heel veel liefs van Holland Harderwijk i love you all.
I love watching this video! Maurice was a true inspiration. I never drank or did drugs, but I have hit rock bottom many, many times in my life and Maurice is right when he said you have to do it for you. You have got to want to get better for yourself. It can't be for anybody else. You have to love yourself. You cannot even begin to love someone else if you don't love yourself - words to live by. I also agree with Lynn Redgrave, Maurice was a very charming man. He is my favorite out of all of the brothers because of what he overcame.
Mine too, I don't think Maurice got the recognition he deserved. Maurice not only played instruments he could sing he also wrote some of the Bee Gee's music. The duet he sang with Lulu on her show the The first of May he wrote that. He was a very talented man and would have made a good comedian as he had a great sense of humour. Maurice is a legend!
I knew him from my Little River AA days in Miami. He was always willing to help others. The day he died was such a shock to all of us. I think about him every now and then--even years now since his passing.
How courageous of Maurice to talk in public about his drinking problem, what his family went through along with him because it's obvious he was suffering or else why drink and of course his love for them which drove him to detox. Of course,Barry by Maurice's side as older brothers and sisters do.It's the "responsibility"that follows the 1stborns as long as they live.
Mo was a true talent and real character from what I've read about him. His honestly here is remarkable. This video is very educational. Addiction is a real bastard to all involved - not just the individual suffering from it. Hard to believe it'll be 15 years next month since Mo passed away. RIP, Mo. You were a good person and are dearly missed. Thank you for your legacy.
A legendary group! Barry is the only living member still performing with Robin & Maurice children to packed audiences today. Barry still looks great and sounds great!
It break my heart to see them smoking.its not helping their lungs or vocal cords. I hope they have quit.its nasty habit.bless all the children's hope Barry live long healthy life. Afaik n.a.jj🙂.
@Sparkle Destiny I know Barry quit smoking he said so on the Larry King live show. I don't know if Robin and Maurice did but at least the pictures were not as prevalent showing them smoking.
Wow. Amazing interview. very powerful. Maurice was am amazing human being. Having weaknesses is not what defines us. It's whether we choose to fight back and how that determines the measure. Maurice was real man. He stood up and took control.
Rick Baker -- actually, as paradoxical as it sounds, Maurice ultimately LET GO of his attempts to control and that's how he finally got clean. He ultimately let go of any idea that he was successfully controlling his life or his drinking, and THAT'S the moment when he had a fighting chance to get clean and stay clean. It sounds completely un-intuitive, but funny how that works :)
Appreciate the fact that Mo came clean about how bad and totally out of control his alcoholism had actually gotten. And he didn't try to deflect or down-play any of it. Very happy that his story had a happy ending. Yes, he died a few short years later,.. but he died with his family unified and right by his side at all times. His career and life was back on track. Mo left this world with his dignity fully intact, and left behind a beautiful legacy.
He was such a beautiful and talented man, such a shame that he took so long to kick the habit and seriously damaged his health. R.I.P You are sorely missed.
@@mwendapoleee his death was due to a birth defect and nothing whatsoever to do with his years of alcohol consumption. In fact his liver was healthy. Smoking had done a lot of damage but that didn’t cause his death either.
@@mwendapoleee We know, because his post mortem reported what his cause of death was and it was nothing to do with any of his past lifestyle choices. It's not a debatable point, it's medical fact.
Although Maurice was more quiet with guitar and keyboards, it was he that was the high note one. Many may not know this but even Barry has said so himself. Shown well on Nights on Broadway. Everyone believed he was the deeper voice. As a trio, the harmonies are unmatched by anyone as yet. The song writing, the singing, the talent flowed from the Bee Gees like the wind blowing across an ocean. Naturally, freely and the music they have made and the bond they shared was in their Souls.
When they were harmonizing in medleys. Yes, Maurice would mostly sing in falsetto. But all 3 of them would always have a time they would sing the "higher" part
@@candyc.3163 Yes he did. Some of his songs are: Closer Than Close, man in the middle, wildflowers, and probably my favorite the bridge. I don't know about wildflowers but there are videos for the other songs. For Closer Than Close try one night only in Las Vegas.
Tina Johnston-Baker No, Barry did the falsetto on Nights on Broadway. There’s a video showing the making of it, the producer asked the brothers to try and Barry was the one who was best at it........ the rest is history.
Maurice was charming, very handsome and talented. An obviously very honest. He had the strength to go into rehab (many don't). Thanks Maurice for your great talent, honestly and helping others and the wherewithal to keep going. I don't believe you were blaming Lennon, however, I do. You were young, weren't involved in alcohol or drugs but introduced to them when you were impressionable. More so because you were a big entertainer. RIP
I'm happy to see he had love and support from his family and friends and brothers ❤️ such a lovely man Maurice may God keep him in total peace in heaven wish I could have known him❤
You are a good soul, Maurice. I am so glad you have shown to the world and most importantly to your family that there is hope in conquering addiction. You have shown to your family on who you really was, a good son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend and a performer. It is so sad though that it ended tragically. RIP, Maurice.
He was 17 what if he hadn't accepted that drink.to drink because someone you admire give it to you is wrong.some are easy to get addicted..at one time or a mother we all seen them smoke.his telling his story I hope help others now vaping is killing our children's I'm sure some have tried beer and other drinks. I'm glad mo quit and told his story.we could lost him sooner..n.a.jj.
Interesting to see and listen to the real Maurice Gibb - a very intelligent, honesty and empathetic man - down-to-earth on himself. He had to endure the fantasy and fake world of showbiz and so many fail. Sorry we have lost him, but thank you for this revealing video.
Maurice was always my favorite BeeGee. When I see or hear them sing now it hurts me. They were already famous when I was born so I grew up with them. I find it sad when I see Barry alone now.

In the end, while he had a great career as a musician, I'm betting that he was most proud and grateful for getting his life and family back.
R.I.P
My heart always melted for Maurice , his eyes are amazing ! I loved watching him sing and the way he would always look at Bary !!
I envied Evonne . He was a beautiful person 💔

I hear y’a ..... all the good ones are taken from us so prematurely.
He should have stopped drinking,. He might have lived a lot longer.

And Andy
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful interview. How heartbreaking to watch and listen to Maurice and know that he is no longer with us😢❤
As I listened to him talk about his time in treatment, I cried. What a beautiful testimony of strength and courage.
I thought the redoing of his vows was especially sweet
I don't drink. Can mess up your liver and kill u.
The Bee Gees were the best singing group in the world. Ever. B.k
Beautiful description of the courage and strength one takes on the path of surrender and healing. What a sweet guy.
How many famous people in this day and age would admit to even 1% of what this man is making public? Major props to him for airing his dirty laundry, admitting he has issues and being man enough to confront them and change himself!
HE WAS SOOOO HANDSOME 💞💞💞💞💞
Yes💕💕💕
Maurice and Robin both got more handsome as they aged.
Yes he was
Wonderful that a man can change so much and then be honest about it. He is a teacher. I pray his family have all healed. ❤️
Mo is so so handsome and he was brave to do this video.Ilove love him.
I never knew of his alcoholism! Maybe because I was deep in my own misery of addiction. Even though he has gone he just gave me a gift that keeps me going in my own Recovery! Thank you Maurice. RIP 4 1/2 years for myself!
KEEP IT UP THE PAY IFF IS HUGE!!!😊❤️🌈
Congratulations 👏
Such a smile, talent, good soul. These men are so genuine, honest, good men.

What a gorgeous and brave man he was.
I simply love the way he carried himself, the laugher , smile and the hat. Always love you
What a brutally honest interview by Maurice.
Such honesty from one so famous. My only regret is that I never got to see him and his brothers in concert. R.I.P. Maurice. You are so missed.
Me too damn damn
eleanor gordon Oh my dear friend I so wish I could give you a taste of what the experience was seeing them in concert.

I'm almost to the point of giving up.
Hey buddy..that's crazy talk..just look how far down Mo was!... but he sought help..stayed the course..and re-claimed his life!...can see you truly admire these wonderful brothers...and that alone shows great taste and character!

Maurice was sooo handsome I never noticed it until now I've been a huge fan of their music 70's and 80's particularly
As I'm a HUGE fan of Maurice's, I'm pretty sure I would've fallen off the boat if I were Lynn Redgrave and saw him waiting there on the dock. RIP to a marvelous and talented man.
I know didn't he look so cool standing on the dock?
I almost fell off the boat watching that scene.
Maurice had such a good smile.
The way she is sitting is very unprofessional!
that's exactly what I thought!
@@annnee6818 I have to agree with that, but it's to bad this is how it ended. They were all Wonderful.
Tomorrow is now....Maurice Gibb was so nice and funny, who continually overcame his demons when he sought help, - RIP to the man in the middle.

Start thinking LESS of yourself, and MORE of others~!~ That's it~!~ Guarenteed to work!!!
As I was typing the first reply to you, I hear Maurice saying HOW SELFISH, HOW SELFISH HE WAS BEING to everyone~!~!~!~
Do NOT listen to everything the media say. Barry is fine.
Barry’s not joining his brothers any time soon.

It would have been last if you didn't get sober.
It would have been less if he hadn't got sober. Maurice mentioned
Maurice mentioned his liver. The alcohol was affecting his liver, before he got sober.
It's great that Maurice and Yvonne did the program. It helped to save their marriage.
Remember Andy died of complications from the disease of addiction. He also died broke.
Such a gift... his journey from active addiction into recovery.... he had the best speaking voice too, and an unforgettable smile ... we miss him x
Gorgeous man. They were such a wonderful group. Hard to believe three of the four are gone. What a tragedy.

The sweetest, most definitely the most attractive Bee Gee brother. Hand down. So sorely missed
His story changed my way of battling my own food and weight obsession and i have been sober since 1993 and i wish he were still here with his family and may he rest in peace
Outstanding, Kara!
Congratulations. Stay strong and stay safe. Rock on.
Sad thing about it is, alcohol can be totally abstained from so as to not partake in that which destroys you. But not food. You have to have food to survive. Just think if alcoholics had to have just a glass or two a day to survive but no more. No one would survive alcoholism.

Total respect for his honesty and determination to best his demons. He is such an inspiration.
Love the Bee Gees. Mo is so awesome, love him still today
What a beautiful and honest man Maurice was. RIP xx
My husband was an alcoholic--- treatment twice--- Maurice has to be honest or treatment doesn't work--- honesty is the key
"Wait! What? Moi? Volleyball?" Hahahaha. He's always been so funny and charming. I'm so glad he made the right decision. So inspiring :')
I noticed that part, too. 😊
I absolutely love Maurice, he’s so cute and honest
Mo was a true talent and real character from what I've read about him. His honestly here is remarkable. This video is very educational. Addiction is a real bastard to all involved - not just the individual suffering from it. Hard to believe it'll be 15 years next month since Mo passed away. RIP, Mo. Amazingly talented. Never Forget. 🎖🎗🌺
It sounds completely un-intuitive, but funny how that works :)
lindalu22291 Powerful comment!

Bad religion
When they were harmonizing in medleys. Yes, Maurice would mostly sing in falsetto. But all 3 of them would always have a time they would sing the "higher" part
Nigerian Prince did Maurice ever sing lead?

Tina Johnston-Baker No, Barry did the falsetto on Nights on Broadway. There’s a video showing the making of it, the producer asked the brothers to try and Barry was the one who was best at it........ the rest is history.
Maurice was charming, very handsome and talented. An obviously very honest. He had the strength to go into rehab (many don't). Thanks Maurice for your great talent, honestly and helping others and the wherewithal to keep going. I don't believe you were blaming Lennon, however, I do.
