Call me crazy; but I absolutely LOVED this show! It was not just beautiful (the colors, the style, etc); it was wonderfully acted and amazingly different!! So glad to you are watching!❤. If you haven't watched "Why Women Kill," consider it. It's a dark comedy. EDITED: Sophie Okonedo should have won that damn Emmy for her portrayal of Charlotte!!! AND Shame on Netlix for not giving it another season to catch on!

I really enjoyed this. The show had such a cool aesthetic with all those costumes and cars, and also really good to see so many great roles for older women - that seems pretty rare

In multiple personalities, each identity is kind of "container" for memories. Heck, the reason that people develop that disorder, it walls off traumatic memories to protect them from the trauma. Those things happened to "someone else" so why would they (the main persona) remember it?

So happy you reviewed this series. It was great, great acting, great characters, costumes and locales. I also started watching and got distracted and went back to finish it up just a couple of weeks ago. I think you would really like Why Women Kill if you enjoy this retro asthetic and strong complex woman characters. I also love you're going your own way and not just following the crowd even if it costs you in viewership from time to time.
It's such a shame Ratched didn't get renewed. Netflix is such a bastard for that. They did it with The OA too and that upset me so much.

You can only remember if the other personality if it lets you. You need to read ‘when rabbit howels’ by the troops for Trudy Chase. The troops were her 99 personalities. Great book on the subject.’

Before you get into longer series', I'd ask you to consider two single season shows: Chernobyl (which is an actual mini-series) and Station Eleven (a single season that stands alone very well). Both are available on Max.

I loved this series. I was mainly interested in nurse Ratched’s backstory. In One Flew over the cuckoo‘s nest She was a true villain. in this series they give her a lot of excuses for the way she acts. In the movie, she had no redeeming qualities.
Have you watched and of the American Horror Story seasons Ashleigh? Ratched was made by the same people I think.

I enjoyed this series, and disappointed that a second season is not forthcoming. I love Sarah Paulson, and the other ladies, Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis et al, are marvelous actresses. Mildred Ratched, is a favorite character. Louise Fletcher, played her wonderfully, in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest!" Strong, intelligent, beautiful, resourceful, confident women, are about as sexy, as it gets! Thank you, for reviewing the series.
I want to request/suggest 2 movies Eddie and The Cruisers and Eddie and The Cruisers II - Eddie Lives. They are 2 awesome movies to see!! The soundtracks are Awesome!! I love John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band. They have a Timeless, Classic Rock sound.
I think for an upcoming series to watch, you should check out X-Men: The Animated Series. Maybe with that one, it could be 4 episodes per video, since that would be the equivalent of 2 hour-long episodes otherwise. Plus, with 22 episodes per season, it makes sure you don't spend an inordinate amount of time on just the one show (of course, with multiple seasons, that's still a lot of episodes).
As with every video of yours, I recommend the movie Imagine Me & You, as well as Zsazsa Zaturnnah.
What used to be called "Multiple Personality Disorder" is now called Dissociative Identity Disorder (or DID). I have been diagnosed with Dissociative Disorder Not Specified (or: NS-DD) which is under the Dissociative Disorder umbrella along with DID. I have "parts", not defined "alters" like those with DID. Everyone who suffers from this condition is different. People with the more severe DID often have amnesia when they are triggered and "switch" and aren't aware of what their alters are doing in the body; some people are aware of what their alters are doing (it can be described as being a passenger in the car while the alter is driving). Unfortunately, portrayals in the media of people with Dissociative Disorders (especially DID) exaggerate and dramatize this condition, so there is a lot of unfair stigma attached to folks who suffer with these conditions. I love this limited-series, but I don't love how they portray someone with DID. Most people with DID don't become murderers. Most people with DID don't "switch" so dramatically between alters (it can be very subtle). There's a lot of sensationalizing this condition since the movie "Sybil" attempted to portray a person with DID back in the 70's.
Hi fellow DID haver :3 your explanation and experience was so refreshing to hear. I like this show, but I agree that their portrayal of DID/OSDD/etc was not as accurate and highly dramatized.
The entertainment & marketing industries have made a business of over-dramatizing and over-emphasizing literally everything. In this series, they couldn't even do pastel colors without blaring them ad nauseum.

Ever hear of a movie called Fargo? In the movie it takes place in Minnesota. Fargo is in North Dakota, not Minnesota. Not even geography is accurate in Hollyweird, so don't expect any facts with complex subject matter either.

Since Nurse Ratched is taken from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", we know (can deduce) that Ratched was able to beat both Edmond and Charlotte. Otherwise, that story would never have occurred. The 'fun' would have been the how and how those actions lead to her personality by the time of the film.

I was so excited when this came out. I mean….Sarah Paulson!!!! If you’ve ever seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, you already know that Nurse Ratched is a vile person, but this is over the top. It’s like they wanted another season of American Horror Story, so they concocted this horrid backstory for Ratched that is just WAY over the top. I was expecting her to have some traumatic childhood, but this is just too much. Beautiful costumes and sets, but I just can’t connect this version of Ratched to the one in the movie. I could have easily have been about some other nurse. The use of the Ratched character was just a selling point and nothing more. But thanks for the review!
