If there is any way you can recover some old on-board GT1 footage from the Aston Martin DBR9 and the Maserati GT1, it is a shame there are not more than a few that you can find on youtube atm.
What a beautiful car... I had forgotten about that one. The driver must have been told to keep it under 9K, cuz there's no way that rotary doesn't top that tach right out and come up the other side...
Some of those cars were meant for endurance racing. So for reliability reason they top them around 9k rpm (787B, IMSA GTO and this one the 792-P). There is a video online of this car topping the rev limiter, in long beach IIRC
This car looked aerodynamically like a (back then future) 1990s GT car. Which was also very odd direction because if you look at the competition, the Toyota Eagle for example...
Sees the red mist at 5:39, love hearing him go through the box down the strait and brake late for turn 1? What prototype did he pass that got a quirky?
I wonder one thing, how much sound insulation material they put that it caught fire? From what i read one place, it seems IMSA used to (or still have) noise regulation limit at certain decibel at certain distance
Listening again with headphones on this time i can hear the engine still dropping revs like it normally would. It does still look and sound a bit odd. Could be just the way he drives or something with the car. Somebody with more knowledge of the era might know.
rotary engines rev up super fast so any throttle input makes it go crazy. On downshifts they heel toe and using the side of your foot to blip isn't easy to make it sound good especially for that engine. He's not exactly meaning to do that but it just happens.
that taco is annoying and he was being too friendly, rotas need to be driven harder, all or nothing with that engine, needs a decent 3 stage shift light in prerifial vision
That sound is glorious.
Todd Michaels Why was the engine stuttering from 0:29-0:35?
Gearbox elasticity ( space between gears ... etc )
Oh yeah well that SPEED is glorious, I’m a speed freak.
Those downshifts are so crisp, so perfect!
Some people simply make better life decisions than others.
What a blast!
I love Laguna Seca
Why must it sound so angry on the downshifts 😍😍😍
It's a race car, it's always angry.

Don't forget the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT GT1.
Or the Ford gt's that competed in gt1
That is the prettiest race car of all time!!!!
That sound is heavenly.
Who da fuq gave this a thumbs down ? This car is Sic!!!!!!
Damn I want a new RX
that's a beautiful racecar
Omg what a beautiful Sound 🔊 I mean what a epic anger hehe. What a Monster!!!! 😎
When will this become available on Spotify

This is like the perfect dream job lol

i want this in forza, the 787b was my favourite but this is a whole year newer
When a throttle is turned off, I don't know why a tachometer means 0.
Brilliant car
I think this car should be very competitive in IMSA back then
It had potential, but was held back by its engine.

Looks like a gen 2 RX-7 GTO.
@@Lbuzzer RX7 IMSA GTO, build from a RX7 FC chassis. Sick car, there is a video of it online racing in Long Beach, wicked ride!

I think it's funny how he passed the 787B in almost a pissed off manner lol
*767B
why did the rev gauge keep dropping down to zero most times he came off the gas? why not just a heel and toe blip
first couple thousand rpm aren't indicated. seems common in this era of cars.
yeah but every time he came off the gas, almost like it stalled or the engine immediately dropped to idle?
Listening again with headphones on this time i can hear the engine still dropping revs like it normally would. It does still look and sound a bit odd. Could be just the way he drives or something with the car. Somebody with more knowledge of the era might know.
It almost seems as if the rev-gauge stops working when he lifts of the throttle.
Sweet jesus. I get a bit wobbly every time I hear a 4 rotor.
scareyaf it's a 3 rotor afaik.
awesome omg..
Love...
Wow........
Steering wheel is on the wrong side but the gear stick is on the right side????? WTF?????
That's how it was on nearly every Group C / GTP prototype of the time.
auto bliper? or that driver just a freak?

Of course he means to blip the throttle on downshifts.
Doesn't look so smooth at low rpm
