    This larger die grinder ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxmwiwyX3ADeryrwvcsiwLeKxme6QNQmGL runs very smoothly in use. There's virtually no vibration. Paddle switch with the safety trigger is a bit cumbersome to use, but is much safer. Grinder cannot turn on if set down on the bench.Note that this die grinder, like most others, runs at 25,000 rpm. Always use a face shield and hearing protection. If your grinding stone has any sign of chips or cracks, throw it away. At 25,000 rpm, the stone sees very high G-loads and could come apart explosively if the stone is damaged. Always run the grinder for a short time before using it to check the stone.This tool is heavier than some but very well made.Recommended.

    Something I love about the hilti stuff is how everything is flush and refined. The plastic seamlessly blends into the rubber for handles and whatnot. Gets rid of that sorta cheap feel because everything has excessive overmoulding and random curves and stuff

    For heavy duty work I'd go with the Hilti though (if you need cordless access), I have a corded "non-brand" SDS drill with like 3J - and it drills holes in iron reinforced concrete like into butter, with it's brushed motor though. Liked the review nonetheless! Great work guys.

    Great review guys. As primarily a Makita owner I was a little depressed with their performance until I saw the difference in skin price! I just have the single 18v Makita hammer and it works fine for what I do. (very occasional tile chipping or lino removal)

    I upgraded my older corded Bosch to the new 60v sdsmax(USA version) DeWalt. Both my older Bosch and new dewalt lack the depth gauge which I really could use. Does anyone know why larger combination hammers seem not to have a depth gauge?

  • @WRXMK
    @WRXMK 4 роки тому +2

    Bosch for me. DeWalt is the most powerful, but I think Bosch is more precise and durable. My 19 year old Bosch GBH24 VRE is still going strong, runs as good as new! It's been through a lot of crap, from smoking, to being red hot and it just doesn't want to die. My only issue is its batteries. We are down to 1 and it's starting to die out, it's been in this stage for quite a while, so I hope to source some genuine ones second hand.

      Have you guys come across Makita's 12v/10.8v (depending on what region) tools yet. There is a kit sold by amazon here in the UK directly for £125 which is about $210 AUS and is very highly rated by (i'm imagining) DIY users:

I have yet needed to go over a inch and a quarter in wood with my 18v DHP459 Makita and the DTD153 Impact has breezed past anything 4" and under screws in wood.
      Amazon AUS is launching anytime soon - i'm surprised it's taken this long, are you guys going to getting an affiliate account setup? You sure deserve it if users are going to purchase tools you are rating highly!

      That is sad a bit. I remember that DeWalt had some adaptor for accu tools to run them also plugged. And also some chinese cheapo manufacturers do offer hybrid plug-in adaptors fot their tools. And I find that quite useful as occasional user mostly working within the reach of plug. Or for situations, that you really need to work several hours without charging. And yes, many quick chargers are able to charge the battery somehow before other is depleted, but these short cycles with high currents and overheating do significantly reduce battery capacity over time. Especially for power tools like rotary hammers this plug-in adaptor should be included.
      btw. Do you plan to compare corded rotary hammers? This battery tools review is nice! And I'll be very interested to see 4-6kg corded machines also. Tools like Bosch GBH 4-32 (SDS+) DFR and GBH 5-40 DCE (SDSmax) and some comparable tools from Makita, DeWalt, Hitachi, Hilti, Milwaukee or Metabo. These are used both by small companies and homegamers for lighter drilling, chiseling through brickwalls, light concrete demolition stuff etc.. And there are no usable comparisons available around. . + maybe add some cheapo piece ($100-150) just for comparison :)

    I'm confused: This Makita is said to bear 3 Joules on Makita's website. Did they upgrade while keeping the same model number? OR did you just note the wrong number?

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  5 років тому

      [Dwain] Is there still conflicting information on Makita websites? They originally said it was 3J, then altered it to 2.5J to adhere to some sort of Australian standard or something. I spoke to Makita at length about it.

    • @elmariachi5133
      @elmariachi5133 5 років тому

      I don't know if it's conflicting on Makita's website itself. But I have seen 3 Joules in all shops and at Makita's website, but you say it's only 2,5 'real' Joules but 3 'australian joules' xD

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  5 років тому

      2.5J - www.makita.com.au/products/power-tools/categories/rotary-hammers-demolition/dhr264z-18vx2-mobile-26mm-sds-plus-rotary-hammer

    • @elmariachi5133
      @elmariachi5133 5 років тому

      Now I got it. Then They obviously still have conflicting information on their websites. They corrected the value on their australian website, but at least the German one, that I was looking at, still has the old 3 Joule on it. ( www.makita.de/produkte/akku-programm/akku-bohrhammer-dhr264zj/ )
      Ridiculous, when one remembers that EPTA is for "European power tools association'.
      My intention was comparing the DHR264ZJ to the DHR263ZJ, that is said to have 3 Joule, too, and the 281 and 283 which are said to have 2,8 Joule. On the australian site the 263 is said to have 2,5 Joule in the title, but 3,0 Joule in the specifications, and the 281 and 283 don't seem to exist in australia at all.
      It seems like there's no stronger Makita SDSplus than the 264, but Makita's policy really isn't helpful in search for a product...I'm beginning to regret that I chose the Makita 18V system and already have some batteries and charging stations for that system.

    Man I only need an SDS like once a month… but I am a wireless internet tech. We install up to 50 foot telescoping poles on roofs of clients to get them internet in the middle of nowhere where there are no other options. So if I need to drive half inch anchors into a brick chimney (and I’m talking the new age American bricks - the dark white stone bitches that a regular hammer drill can’t touch above 1/4” bits) to mount some w brackets to secure the 10 foot section of the pole then I’m absolutely screwed. Not only do I lose the install but I feel terrible for not being of greater help to the client. SDS+ is not just for people drilling concrete all day. If you have to drive anything above 3/8” anchors then you start getting into some serious trouble. Some of the brick used here is harder than concrete as it’s just cut stone

      Oz Tool Talk i own the GBH 18V 26F and you can't compare the 18 and 36V Systems. The 18V is hand to hand up to 10mm in steal concrete nearly as fast as the 36V. Smaller hoses live 8mm is even faster because its faster spinning. For a contractor drilling indoor for drywall concructions and up to 10 mm you are fine. You also can do 68mm holes
