This is one of the differences that I notice more between American and British pronunciation, but that same time the more hard to imitate (British). Altough I know that the word "can't" in British could be mispronounce and turn into a bad word.

I would never eat cat food! Tim, the pronounciation workshop is an amazing resource for my English classes. Thank you and keep up the good work.

İ wanna ask a question. What does “would” mean and how and when can we use it ? Also what’s the difference between İ say and İ would say?

"(...) You see this? (...) Do you know what we call this?"
BBC Learning English, congrats for the channel and thanks for teaching us. I'm Brazilian and I have a doubt.
In English classes in Brazilian schools we learn that questions are made with auxiliary and putting the auxiliary verb before the pronoun (subject). But in movies and conversations, I see English speakers making questions as we Brazilians do, with just intonation. Can you explain this to me? Are there rules for both modes?
Please, if there's anything wrong in my text, let me know. Thank you!

Hi Alex Moraes de Souza. We are glad you like our channel. When speaking informally, the intonation will tell you if this is a question. You can say, for example, 'do you want to go to the cinema?' or 'want to go to the cinema?'
However, the second version of the question is very colloquial. When we omit one or more words from a sentence, we call it 'ellipsis'. This is a common feature of conversation.

    • @yanchen2527
